Editorial review from Citysearch 2/24/2013

I have a 16 year old weimaraner, a 6 year old standard poodle, and a two year old standard poodle. Griffith works for me. I feel that Dr. Wheeler is my partner in caring for the health of my animals. I am not an easy customer, and I know it. I am educated, ask a lot of questions, and seek outside opinions. I have had a couple of unpleasant experiences with office staff but that was some time ago and isolated. I have to laugh when I read about a client who complained that the bloodwork showed nothing! Showing ""nothing"" gives you a baseline and rules some things out. Bloodwork is almost always the first step. Really, do we want the doctor to simply guess? We have to give the doctors the tools to make a diagnosis. The doctors are intuitive and experienced, but not clairvoyant! more

Great vets but business office sucks 9/26/2011

I have been taking my two cats to Dr. Miner for a year and have also just used Dr. Bogs because Dr. Miner wasn't available. The care my cats recieve there is beyond compare. I love them both. (Doctors) more

My Ferrets Love Dr. Boggs 11/12/2010

We don't trust anyone but Dr. Boggs to care for our ferrets. She's always taken extremely good care of them for us. In any emergency we've ever had, she's made time for them to the point that she almost seems heaven sent. She's the type of vet who just really loves the animals she cares for, and she understands how important they are to us. She's great about giving you lots of information, laying out all your options, and she understands that we're not all wealthy pet owners, so she tries to help you make the most of your resources. I know that each one of my fuzzies has had a better life because of her, and im thankful for that. If you own a ferret or ever plan on owning one, she's the best. more

Oh, the horror 3/27/2010

Quite a few years ago I left my cat here telling the receptionist Mikey was sick & needed attention soon. It was 7 a.m. I left for work. At 10:45 a vet called me at work, Dr Kreuger, who is no longer at the clinic, & said Mikey was in critical condition, that she had arrived at 10:30 to find that he was dying in his cage. She said the technician had done the intake exam & failed to notice that Mikey had a urinary blockage; his bladder was full. For 3.5 hours the techs & any vet that was present walked by Mikey's cage while he lay dying. For 5 days & nights he was on an I.V. Yes, he survived due to his own will to live. He is now 13 yrs old & healthy. Since Griffith closed at 6 p.m. & had no one at all to check on Mikey during the night & b/c he was on an I.V., they decided he couldn't stay there overnight. So I had to rush from work every night & pick up my cat by 6 p.m. with the I.V. & take him through rushhour traffic to the Emergency Hosp on Research for the night. Pick him up by 7 a.m. the next morning when the Emerg Hosp closes, ferry him back to Griffith for day care. At the end of a week he was well enough to take off the I.V. Dr Kreuger told me the accident was my fault b/c my cat was so fat the tech could not feel his bladder. And it was not their fault the tech missed the full bladder. No one admitted the tech was incompetent & that a vet should have done the exam. I paid $1200 for the week of care & they were kind enough to let me pay on time over the next year. But not on the trust system. Instead, the office manager took my credit card no. & the first of each month the nice office manager charged my card untill I paid back every dime for the damage they did him. For all the people who say this hosp is wonderful, well you didn't have the tech I had or an unconscionable doctor blaming you for the screw up. Never ever again since then have I ever left an animal of mine at the vet's. I take time off from work & I wait & I do not leave the animal there. Such a horror was this. Pros: None Cons: Unsafe place & greedy PR man at the helm more

Excellent Care - Very Friendly Staff 1/4/2010

Over the course of fourteen years, we have had at least seven personal dogs (two until death of terminal conditions), three cats, a couple of birds, many lizards, a litter of puppies before sale, and countless strays. All of these have been patients of Lynne Boggs, DVM or another staff DVM. We have bred an AKC Champion to an AKC Champion, whelped a few litters, and fostered countless other stray dogs. We heard about Griffith Small Animal Hospital from a friend and fellow breeder. Now, our whole family, several other friends, and numerous forever foster families rely on Griffith Small Animal Hospital for the care of their pets. We have all always been please with the level of services and the compassionate care. Pros: Too many to list Cons: none more

Loyal patients 9/19/2008

Dr. Boggs is just the vet we were looking for. She never ttried to push extra uneeded procedures/ shots on us. She gave us our options with our ferrets conditions and she has the experience to tell us what she has seen and backed it up with known research. In the end, our ferrets have responded wonderfully to the treatment she suggested. She is very warm, friendly and although obviously very busy, she doesn't make you feel like just a timeslot in her schedule. Our first experience with her keeps us going back to her even though we live quite a distance away. She is the only Dr. I would trust to look out for our ferrets best interests and ours as she gives suggestions that have saved us money. It is obvious that she truly cares for the animals she treats as well as their caregivers :) more

A GREAT PLACE FOR YOUR PETS 9/10/2008

Bob Griffith and Team of excellent Vets have been here forever. They aren't the best price in town, but you will get honest and reliable loving care for your beloved pets. I wouldn't hesitate to send you here. more

Excellent Vets. Well Worth The Cost 1/25/2008

After some negative experiences with my old vet, I moved my pets to GSAH several years ago and don't regret it a bit. The vets, particularly Dr. Lynne Boggs, are excellent. Dr. Miner and Dr. Tan also stand out. Excellent communicators, will return your calls promptly, and will do whatever's necessary to squeeze you in if needed. You will pay for this excellence, however. GSAH costs substantially more than my old vet did. more

Great service, excellent care. 10/28/2007

I recently moved to Austin and had a hard time choosing a vet. My kitten and I had found a great vet back home and our expectations were high. This veterinary facility is clean, the staff is friendly, and they always take great care of my pet. The facility is also AHAA certified meaning that it is anually inspected for cleanliness and quality of equipment. My pet recently had a surgery performed there and not only were they very thorough in their post-op instructions, she healed up quickly and beautifully and has no scarring. more

Avoid this vet clinic. 3/16/2007

I owned a cat with feline acne, requiring shots a vet tech or I could give. Almost impossible to convince the management to lower a regular office fee plus medication costs for a 3 minute shot visit with a tech. The vet finally gave me the option of giving the injections myself. The managers knew they would not make as much money if I gave them myself but finally did sell me a vial at 8xs markup above an online vet supply. The 2nd vial I wanted to purchase had jumped $20. It was an unpleasant chore to convince them to allow the vet to write a prescription, fax/email to the company so I could order and ship the meds to my home at a reasonable cost. Pros: Vets & Animal staff were kind sincere and respectful; generally knowledable. Cons: Key office staff unpleasant, mgmt concerned with profit, Overcharging, not honest in compensating for their error of incomplete procedures more

Dr. Boggs is the vet we were looking for! 12/27/2006

Dr. Boggs is a fabulous vet who shows a true love of animals. The first time my partner and I took our dog to her, Dr. Boggs greeted us warmly and then sat on the floor with our dog. Much of the initial exam was disguised as petting and they were good friends by the end of the first visit. Pros: Kind and professional veterinary care. more

Just wanted to find a good vet 10/25/2006

I must say first and foremost that Dr. Boggs came highly recommended. I had been saving and was prepared to pay the higher costs here for my special needs dog because I was confident that he would get the care that he needs and that we deserve. Unfortunately, I work a forty hour monday thru friday work week, and the clinic doesn't see new patients on saturdays. The receptionist told me they could make an exception and see me on a Saturday a month from now. A month? So I'm back at square one, and have to do what I was trying to stay away from and just choose a name out of the phonebook and hope that we get decent service. If you don't have an option of missing work, you'll have to find someplace else to go. more

A good vet is hard to find 4/17/2006

Came here for Griffith but not taking new patients. Dr. Boggs is great and has saved my babies who like to get in things, quite a few times. She is genuinely concerned. Also saw Dr. Tan other day, she is also very sweet and caring. Everyone acts like every pet is the cutest & sweetest. I've shelled out a lot of money, but the outcome is always worth it. Pros: great docs, great staff, TLC Cons: far from me, price more
