HORRIBLE... THEY KEPT MY VAN FOR DAYS, AND LIED ALL THE TIME THAT IT WAS THERE. Finally, i picked it up and took it to another shop, and had it back the same day. They are the worst people to work with. . more

I brought my vehicle to Gretchen's because it was close by, after them installing a bad part on my ride and having to replace it they were asked to do a job and couldn't do it. They didn't work on my ride when they should have and said they had to let it sit to cool down, which was BS. Eventually it was either we take it somewhere else no matter the cost and they would be paying for it, or our money back, we got our money back. I would NEVER recommend anyone to take a vehicle there. Oh, I too am on citysearch for my business and I have all four star and five star reviews MOSTLY five. The owner calls himself ""The Swine""--that should tell you all you need to know about the place. He gave me a quote that was about $1500 more than other mechanics in the area. He also takes advantage of the fact that women don't know as much about auto repair than men do. Be very careful with this place--they charge too much and if you question them, they get very defensive. If I could give them a zero I would. more

I searched all over Long Beach, trying to find a reliable value-priced service department for my car. It seems that you always look as far away as you can, because the neighborhood shop can't possibly be good enough.\r \r Gretchen's is. They're open early and late and will make arrangements when I can't make it during normal hours. They are the first shop I've been to, since I worked at an auto shop (30 years ago!), that actually calls when the car is done, or when it needs more than the estimate (rarely). They keep their promises.\r \r They don't even laugh when I bring in my 11 year old, 200,000 mile Isuzu for repairs. Better yet, they keep it running and so I keep coming back.\r \r The flowers (for my wife) are nice. The car wash before they give it back to me is fine. The crew is friendly and entertaining. They'll give you a ride to work or home, if you can't stay with your car. They also offer free towing, if it's coming to them for repair.\r \r The big deal is that they keep their promis more

Gretchen's is the place that we take our cars to if they have some type of engine trouble, or need an oil change. They are extremely honest, and will not add on extra stuff as would a jiffy lube or the dealer to try to create additional expenditures.\r \r We have always been satisfied with Gretchen's, and they give ladies a pretty flower when they come to pick up their car. more
