Best

What I like about these guys, they won't force you to buy their service unless you really need it.

Worst

I hate to say it, because I love local businesses, especially those who are a little bit sassy. But I didn't have the best experience with Gregg's this time around. I thought I'd ...

Helpful and Professional 3/29/2012

Nate was very helpful and professional. He makes it a pleasure to shop at Gregg's. The rest of the team is great as well. more

Very Helpful 3/23/2012

Adam and Wes were both very helpful and considerate of my needs and my budget! They helped me tremendously and were patient and happy! This is the second bike I have bought from Gregg's and have already got two friends in based on my experiences. Love love love this shop!! more

Knowledgeable 3/14/2012

Wes was very knowledgeable, no pressure, really helpful with everything. Very personable and easy to work with. more

Best Bike Store 2/28/2012

I like Gregg's Cycle because the people who work there they now about bikes, they give you the right information about bikes. Gregg's Cycle is the best bike store in Seattle, I say this is not because I want to win a bike is because I got the right information and the right bike. more

Great Selection 2/23/2012

I don't have a lot of knowledge about bikes but it appears you have a great selection. Very nice, modern, clean and well laid out merchandise and accessories. Ability to tootle around on the bike within the store a bit. It makes you want to buy there. more

Thanks so Much 2/14/2012

The employees are are very helpful and I feel very welcome at the store. I have only recently started getting into cycling and always have questions that are answered by the staff. I am becoming a better cyclist with their help and I always find what I am looking for at Gregg's. Thanks so much. more

This Place has Everything 2/7/2012

This place had everything I needed and for such a great price. I've looked online and other shops, and couldn't find what I needed for this great of a deal. I will recommend you guys to everyone! more

Show me the money! 11/12/2008

Heaven help us pathetic poor-people that only have a budget of 2500$ or less! After being assured that the size, brand and model of shoe I needed was in stock, I was handed the 100$ more expensive version. It was the same thing on the bike sales floor. After being forcefed a pair of shoes that were well over my budget and a 3500$ bike I didn't want practically shoved down my throat I left. Where do they find their sales staff? more

Great Selection -- Great Service 6/13/2008

I have been shopping at Gregg's for years and the selection and service never cease to amaze me. I recently stopped by to purchase a new pair of cycling shoes. The woman who assisted me was extremely helpful and patient. I am very picky with my shoes and she humored my interest in trying on every shoe in the store. Gregg's had multiple performance oriented shoes in my size, but I went with the SIDI's. While there I found some awesome looking jerseys (purchased 2) and the parts guys helped me pick up some new lube. Gregg's is surely bigger than the store located in my neighborhood, but they have earned my business over the years with good service, great selection and friendly staffers. more

Good bikes, Bad service 5/28/2008

I came in to the store having already called ahead to put a specific bike on layaway, meaning all the hard work for them had already been done. The rep who helped me out kept talking to me very slowly...like..I..couldn't...understand. It was almost as if he was reading from a teleprompter behind me. As I return from my test ride, pretty excited about my new bike, I told the rep I loved it, and was ready to buy it, plus accessories too. You would think the rep would be happy about that...but you would be wrong. I had heard from people who recommended Gregg that they gave 10% discounts on accessories, and keep in mind the bike alone is already extremely expensive to start with. The rep's first answer was "well you would have to talk to my manager, but I don't know if you can do that" (Hum..what? Why not?). Once the manager finally comes, instead of talking to me, he acts as if I'm invisible and speaks to the rep standing right next to me. I'm not asking for a gift, but I'm ready and willing to pay thousands and I don't think 20$ off 200$ accessories is a lot to ask for. After all this, despite me knowing they do offer discounts to some customers, he blows me off in an indifferent, somewhat condescending way, implying they are already doing me a favour. In his words, "we don't have a problem selling these bikes". Yikes. They do have a good selection, but if you can, I strongly advise you go somewhere else. more

Don't try to get extra service - you will fail! 4/21/2008

I just bought my new bike at Gregg's and wanted to have some parts changed. They were totally unmotivated to sell me the extra parts. After a week I called them and asked about the status. Guess what, they did not even ordered the stuff. I am very disappointed... It is also very hard to get a qualified sales person. They are talking about things they have no idea about. Just try the stuff there, but don't buy. I will be hard for you getting someone helping you after you finished your shopping. Unfortunately I bought some extra labor and wanted to pimp my bike a bit - very bad idea with the Gregg's guys. more

Gregg's Greenlake...A Little Sheepish 11/18/2006

I hate to say it, because I love local businesses, especially those who are a little bit sassy. But I didn't have the best experience with Gregg's this time around. I thought I'd buy a bike from them instead of one of the big superstores in the area, but now I sort of regret it. I felt like they were trying to sell me the bike THEY really wanted, not the one that was appropriate for my needs. Then they didn't do a great job installing my new handlebars; when I went in for a mini-tune-up right before my triathlon they did a half-baked job of looking over my bike (which the REI guys rectified jovially in minutes); and when I tried to redeem my included 90-day tune-up, they were extremely confusing about the process and ended up turning me away after assuring me that I could drop my bike off that day if I chose to drive all the way across the city. Overall: unsatisfactory. Sorry guys. more

Don't bother with Gregg's 11/4/2006

Typical shopping experience with Gregg's. I walk in the door. No one looks at me, or acknowledges my presence. Find a bike that looks like a possibility. Stand over bike, employee hollers from across the store, you need some help? I say yes, please hold the bike for me. So she does, I sit on it, get off it, she walks away without saying a word. This is why I go to Portland to spend money. Not one thin dime will Gregg's receive from me. more

Gregg's Greenlake is the best! 3/3/2006

I love this place. On a sunny summer day it's my first stop for advice on where to ride, what to wear, and what to ride. more

Greggs is too big to care 1/31/2006

I spend a lot of time on bikes and in bike shops around Seattle. Gregg's is my last ditch stop if everyone else is closed. If you are a very casual cyclist that just wants a bike to ride a few times a year you can get one at Gregg's. You'll spend too much though. I recommend going to Recycled Cycles or Freerange Cycles in the north end or Aaron's Bicycle Repair in the south end (West Seattle). They are smaller, neighborhood shops, but will more than likely provide much better service and advice. more

Very Helpful in Choosing the Right Bike 12/21/2005

The staff at Gregg's Greenlake Cycle is very knowledgeable, but that is not to say that they'll just steer you toward the hard-core biking stuff. They also take the time to ask questions and listen to customers to figure out a person's skill level and what they want their bike for. From there, the store has a full range of every type of bike to suit just about any purpose, as well as all the accessories any biker could ever need. more

Happy with my purchase from Gregg's 10/24/2005

A few years back I was looking for a solid road bike, but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. I checked out a bunch of other shops, like Montlake, but ended up going with Greg's for a couple reasons. First off, they were cheaper. It was only slightly, but money is money. Second off, the staff was much friendlier overall (although the people at Montlake were ok), and they really seemed excited to help you get a new bike. I also really enjoyed that they send you out of the store on pretty much any bike you want to get a feel for what's going on. The person I worked with even put me on a super expensive bike he knew I wasn't going to get, just so I could tell the difference. Finally, I needed to get my clipless pedals and shoes setup, and they did a great job helping me out in that area as well. Also, I got my first tune up free, and the shop guys were all very friendly and knowledgeable. It's a great place to buy a bike. more

Start your bike shopping here 10/23/2005

I recently purchased a bike at Gregg's and had a great experience. It had been about 15 years since I had ridden a bike regularly, much less bought one, so I had a lot to learn. I test road a bunch of bikes and pestered the employees with tons of questions. They were patient and very helpful with my purchase, helping me find the right bike for my body type, and making sure it would work for my commute. All and all a very good experience and I will definitely use Gregg's in the furure. more

Gregg's Cycle a good place to start 10/4/2005

I second the recommendation for Gregg's Greenlake Cyle. I believe they also own/manage Aurora Cycles as well. Selection of bikes and equipment runs the gamut from inexpensive to high end components. It's been a few years since I bought a bike from Gregg's but I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. The staff are friendly and helpful. And as mentioned previously, you can test ride the bikes before you buy - a big factor in helping you decide which bike is right for you. more
