Felt like a guest, not a customer 8/24/2008

My wife LOVES Greek food, so my daughters and I thought going to a Greek Restaurant would be a perfect highlight to our weekend in Sacramento. The Greek Village Inn proved to be the perfect choice. Besides the great food that others have written about, I don't remember ever feeling more like a *guest*, truly, than a customer. We had a great waitress, and the husband and wife owners were present and both were charming and engaging and especially attentive to our daughters. When the Greek red sauce on the girls' pasta orders proved a bit too foreign for their young palates, the owner insisted on replacing them, quickly, with some grilled chicken and fries. That, in addition to the Shirley Temple refills, and the awesome dessert, we give it 5 stars easy, and look forward to visiting again when we return to Sacramento. Pros: Parking, service, quality of food more

Best Mediterranean Foods 2/10/2007

The first time I went to the Greek Village Inn, I was in search of some food from my childhood. Being raised in a Greek/ Armenian home with all the foods was the best part of my heritage. Family would gather in the kitchen and share the bounty of a meal prepaired with love and care. The Greek Village Inn has just that. Some of the menu item are alittle on the high side of cost, but once you put it in your mouth, you know it's well worth it!! They use only the finest quality of products to cook. The Feta alone is of such a HIGH quality that you can not find it any other "" Mediterranean Food"" restaurant in Sacramento! Eaten along with the Dolmas and a side of Pita (both very good) and you have the makings of a memory! The staff is very well educated in the foods they serve and how they taste, being able to explain them to a first timer, which i have a tendancy to bring along with me. The Chiefs are very accomidating if I would like more of one ingredient and less of another, and timely with the orders. NEVER have I ever waited for my entree, just the oppisite. They know me and husband well now over the past couple of years that we visited them,we go for dinner at least once a week, and it feels like home did when I was a child eating in the kitchen with family! I thank the owners for finding quality and consistancy on the top of the list above all else! Pros: High food quality, great tasting dishes, knowledgable staff thats fast and friendly!! Cons: always packed, they need a bigger shop, maybe knock down a wall (or two) more

Best fine greek food I've had and five star service!! 8/1/2006

The Greek Village Inn is a favorite of mine. The picture that City Search has is outdated because they have remodeled the inside and it is very romantic. The prices are high but the food is well worth it. The cheeses they carry are some of the finest I have ever had. Order a ""Saganaki"" which is a flaming cheese appetizer or the Kobe Beef. They have a great dinner called a ""Grecian Plate"" where there is a little of everything to sample. Pros: Ambience, Service, Food Quality Cons: Paper Napkins (They should have linen) more

BEST GREEK FOOD OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO! 1/26/2006

I grew up in a very Greek area in Chicago - so I KNOW great Greek. Greek Village in certainly delivers - and far outpaces its competitors in the Arden area. Gyro fans, listen up! THEY MAKE THEIR OWN MEAT! It's not pre-packaged leather. It's not shaved off a cone. It's hand-made daily. So fresh, so tender, so juicy. Desserts are made in-house. The place itself is clean, and well appointed. A quiet little place tucked out of the way. Perfect for a romantic dinner. more

Surprises in a hidden location. 8/5/2005

We came here once when the Kabob House was closed and we were craving Greek food. The prices were higher than we are used to but the food was good and the ambiance was nice. They had some items on the menu that the Kabob House does not have and some things I had never heard of before. Including an incredible cheese appetizer that they set aflame right next to your table. I can't remember the name of it but every once in a while I get a strong craving for it. Once the flames die down it is hot and soft enough to spread on your pita. It was pungent with a hint of the alcohol they used to flambe it. It was so good that I even ate it with a spoon once the pita ran out! Pros: Flaming Cheese, Ambiance, Food Cons: Location, Slightly Pricey more
