First of all, let's put things into perspective. It's a diner. Having said that, the food is decent as diner food goes, but the quality of the food is not as good as what you will get at a chain restaurant.
This is a diner/sports bar suffering from an identity crisis. Kitchy, sporty and drunk all wrapped up into one time capsule; currently, in the throes of updating. Seating is comfortable. Lighting is ok. Management needs to loosen the purse strings and turn up the air flow before someone passes out from the smoky grilled table dishes. Despite the obvious ceiling fans, in both summer and winter, the air quality is downright stagnant. Asthmatics, bring your inhaler just in case.
The menu is quite extensive, too large in my opinion. Better to do everything well than lots mediocre. From breakfast items to dessert, it's all on there, if you can weed through it all. The pasta dishes are listed on the menu as coming with two sides.
However, upon ordering, we were informed that all entrees in that section of the menu except pasta dishes include a side. So, if one was to order chicken parmagiana, one could choose a side of pasta and a side of vegetables, but if one orders the ravioli, ""NO SIDES FOR YOU!"". Pretty misleading. As a vegetarian forced to choose between an abbreviated selection of items, I can't help but feel ripped off by this policy.
Also, we had a problem with how toppings on a burger were added-on vs. subtracted from the bill. The stock response to our dispute was to tell us that ""everything is 50% off anyway,"" as if that would make us feel better. Rather than correcting the bill, the manager came over to the table to explain her position. A professional response would have been to deduct the item of contention and apologize for the error.
The wait staff is a rag-tag collection of vagabonds attired in sloppy sports garb. Service depends on who you end up with. There is one waiter who is extremely pleasant and attentive. Then, there are a few space cadets. Overall, not a terrible experience as long as you have patience.
If you lack patience, you'll be thrilled when your main course comes flying out of the kitchen a few minutes after your appetizers. Otherwise, you will feel pressed to consume everything all at once before it gets cold.
For 50% off (currently on the first Monday of the month), one can't really complain (too much). Although, I wouldn't go out of my way if it was full price. An abbreviated late-night menu is available which is les expensive for smaller portions.
