I took my 6 month old Rottweiler puppy to Gray Kennels for training. First, I should NEVER have trusted a place that takes your dog and 'trains' them saving you the trouble of doing it yourself. That's completely not acceptable and I was naive and stupid to think it would be a wonderful time saver. Really to take and leave your dog with a trainer, never to see the training taking place and missing forming that bond with your pup, it is just lazy and irresponsible on anyone's part - mine included.\r
Lester, the owner, spent about an hour with my pup and told me he'd 'take it off my hands' and offered me a ""highly trained and fear responsive"" adult rottie from his ""collection"". I politely declined and proceeded with leaving my sweet lovable life-embracing pup with this criminal in a charismatic disguise.\r
My rottie was returned to me a week later and literally peed itself when I took out it's leash. For two weeks after pick-up my baby peed itself every time my tone of voice changed or when I picked up the leash again. Lester revealed that they beat the dogs with their leash to teach them to be ""cowed"" when walking and that he'd be willing once again to swap my girl out for one of his dogs. He ruined a perfectly good puppy and offered to swap it out with another...that's poor business ethics. \r
Please don't use Gray Kennels. Don't board your dogs there, don't use them at all. If you MUST use them for your training needs please take a class where YOU ARE PRESENT. Finally, ask around about opinions of Gray Kennels - you'll find more people willing to dissuade you from using their services more than you will find training success stories.\r
Gray Kennels is a nightmare and a sad sad secret in the East TN area.
