Grappa is definitely the BEST restaurant in town. The food and ambiance takes dining to a whole new level. The servers are professional and knowledgeable. Hosts are personable ...

Who are these people?????? 5/7/2011

Can't agree with the lady or guy who said they had every appetizer and it was crappy and they did not like anything. Holy God.....Where does this obvious ski group eat that is so much better than this?? I agree that it is expensive but nobody asked you to go there every night. It is a special occassion restauarant and popular with most people in Park City. Great mushroom soup and the entrees are fine. Can't even imagine what they thought of the other restaurants in town. more

Good, could be great 9/10/2010

We dined with Grappa on 9/10/10 for our second wedding anniversary, wanting to try something new. I enjoy the restaurants in Park City, including affiliated restaurants Wahso and Chimayo, but I had never been to Grappa. As such, we made a reservation in spite of the somewhat ambivalent reviews. We were very impressed with the hospitality and the location: the restaurant is in a beautiful little historic multi-level building near the top of Main Street. We sat on the second floor looking down main, we were seated promptly, and the service was very attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We started with an assortment of Italian olives, marinated in olive oil herbs and citrus - it came with ""grissini"" which are breadsticks. As far as olives go, these were particularly tasty. We enjoyed a traditional Caprese (heirloom tomatoes, Mozarella, basil, Balsamic vinegar) - not very exciting, but very good. The Grape and Gorgonzola salad (Roasted Walnuts and a Red Wine Vinaigrette) was delicious - the grapes counterbalanced the slight bitterness of the salad perfectly. A tomato soup (with marinated cherry tomatoes) was unremarkable, but loyal to its chief ingredient. A mushroom soup could be described the same way - if you like mushroom, this is your ticket, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Ravioli (Braised veal, beef, and pork, basil, chives, parsley tomato sauce) was okay, not amazing, and the Risotto was a little strange - kind of like a stroganoff flavor with a piece of shrimp and a mussel. A lovely lemon-yogurt sorbet with a mint leaf cleansed our palates, and our main entrees followed: a Pork Chop (very good, best when a bite was paired with the golden raisins and pickled red onion) and a Grilled bavette steak (paired strangely with very bitter and salty brocollini and some kind of bean). The reduction served with each meat entree was delicious, but their accompaniments were lacking - the potatoes served with the pork were bland, and the beans/brocollini served with the beef were odd. The meat was delicious however. Dessert was a refreshing Panna Cotta (rasperries, strawberries, sauce, and the interesting addition of small cubes of raspberry gelatin) and a Chocolate Mousse cake with a refreshing hit of orange. \r Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Grappa, but something was missing. I wanted to be amazed by the food for the prices charged, but everything was just okay. It's the kind of place that I'm happy I patronized, but I won't be in a hurry to return. The ambience is lovely, the wine list is extensive, but the food needs a little more creativity - you can tell that the chef was striving for simple goodness, and he succeeded in a few areas, but could do with a little more creativity. more

Not recommended 4/5/2010

While in Park City to ski, we opted for dinner at Grappas. The dining room is quaint and cozy and while me and my companion were seated at an odd two-top next to a pillar, the view to the street and side yard was nice. The food and service were very disappointing. The appetizers and soup were fine, but when my entree arrived (parmesean encrusted salmon) the salmon was completely raw underneath the breadcrumbs and parmesean. When I sent it back, the server rudely indicated that ""we cook our fish medium and that's not to everyone's liking"". When it came back it was still completely uncooked and unedible, but on the third try they did manage to cook the fish to medium. While the server remained rude, the manager had the good graces to remove the salmon from the bill, but the dining experience was ruined. Based upon the poor service, unskilled kitchen staff and chef, and the price, I cannot recommend Grappas. The soup was decent, so I give it one star. Pros: Nice Atmosphere Cons: Poorly cooked food, rude service more

Wonderful and Not at the same time . 2/25/2009

Great food warm and cozy inside , However way way way to spendy . We had nine people in our group and they all said the same and seven said they would not be back . Pros: Great Place Cons: $$$$$$$$ Not that great more

Grappa = Crappa. 1/6/2009

Absolutely the WORST restaurant I have ever been too. An Italian restaurant with no pasta. 1) Overpriced. $40 entrees with only about 5 to choose from. 2) Poor Customer Service. Had a problem with the wine, they would not budge. 3) Cramped environment. The waiter could not even reach my side of the table. 4) Food quality was atrocious. We ordered 1 of each appetizer, didn't enjoy any of them. 5) Bad idea for your birthday. No birthday cake. With a $300 bill, you'd expect cake. STAY AWAY. Pros: None. Cons: overpiced, poor quality, poor customer service, no variety more

Not worth your $$$ 1/22/2008

The service did not match the $40+ entrees. We were completely unaware that the menu was ""fixed"" and pre-set. The website did not show that information, the reservationists did not mention it, and the confirmation email did not have that info. I called the manager to see if there's anything that he can do to change this, and he said ""No."" If you're managing a restaurant, the worst thing you can say to a guest is ""No."" There's always a solution if you're not lazy.\r \r Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Value more

The best food in Park City 7/2/2007

I recently returned to Grappa after being a non-believer for the last couple of years. I had an experience not unlike some of the other reviewer's and just stayed away. Some friends of mine last winter wanted to dine there and I agreed against my better judgement. Well the experience was a complete 180 degrees from the last one! The food was terrific, the staff friendly and effeicient and the manager even stopped by our table several times to make sure everything was right.\r \r I recently dined there on the patio and let me tell you I have not had a better ambiance or experience in my 20+ years of dining out. The server told us the chef was new and the food was proof that a young, excited chef is behind the wheel now. The osso bucco fell off the bone and was so full of flavor! The salads are huge and the portions on all the entrees are equally large and full of value. The scallops dish was equally delightful.\r \r The kids choices are limited but our server, on the last visit, made several suggestions that fit right on with our children even though they were not on the menu. Again, the staff, excellent!\r \r A tip: In the summer the local newspapers carry coupons for Grappa (and the other stores in thier group) offering great discounts! Pros: Ambience, value, service, food Cons: expensive, no kids menu, parking more

so overpriced! 3/17/2007

i can't believe the prices on this menu - average entree is $46 and so not worth it!\r \r horrible food and even worse service. run from this place. more

SO DISAPPOINTING! OVERPRICED AND HORRIBLE MENU 3/17/2007

My husband and I dined here last night and are still appaled at the menu. First of all - entrees are priced from $38 - $48 PER PLATE. Are you kidding me??! This restaurant would be laughed out of New York City where we're from. We don't mind paying a lot for good food, but this is HORRIBLE. The menu options are limitted and fit for fattening up farm animals. Chicken wrapped in proscciuto sauteed in creme fraiche is one of the healthiest options on the menu.\r \r Additionally - the $16 ceaser salad was too small to be considering a child's portion. My husband actually had them take the salad back - we refuse to be taken advantage of, and this is exactly what Grappa does - they prey on ""tourists"" to Deer Valley who they assume to be millionaires and don't care being ripped off.\r \r The bread (which they call ""foccacia"" - still laughing at that one) was cold, and the wine is THIRTEEN DOLLARS A GLASS.\r \r SAVE YOUR MONEY - ORDER IN ROOM SERVICE! What a joke!\r \r Pros: The tables were sturdy. Cons: Overpriced, horrible selection of food, terrible service. more

Nothing was ""the best"" for the money and it took so long to eat, seriously plan on 3 hours when you eat here. 7/7/2006

This place is so overrated. It is really a pretty restaurant, but the service is notoriously slow and the menu greatly overpriced. The only time it's worth it is when they do a 2 for 1 coupon and even then it's high! I think they find it charming to make you wait for everything! Crazy! Cons: It takes so long to eat here, it's hard to justify. more

At least I had good company! 2/2/2005

Don't bother! I know we went during Sundance and it was crowded, but for the price we paid, the service was inexcusable. We waited over an hour for our table and when they finally called us from the waiting location across the street, we waited another 20 minutes. The waitress delivered a wine bottle with a price tag on it, then tried to cover it up. Our first course was cleared before one of us was finished, and the second course delivered while she frantically tried to finish. Then we waited half an hour for our entrees. Also, there was a hair in one of the entrees, and the soup portion was only a few tablespoons. All that being said, the dessert was wonderful, and the atmosphere would have been great had the service not disappointed so much. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Crowded, Service, Food quality more

Culinary Train Wreck 1/27/2005

I'll grant it was during Sundance, but in their effort to squeeze as many people in as they could, they made for the worst dining experience I've had in YEARS. Tables crammed into odd angles making it impossible for the servers to move (and for us to get up). Prepare to stand outside in the snow 'cause their waiting area is FAR too small. Pros: Atmosphere, Wine List Cons: Service, Food, Crowded more

Go Here, You'll Miss Sundance 1/15/2005

WARNING: if you are only in town for a few days or for Sundance, stay away from this place. Only go to Grappa if you have nothing to do for 74 hours, because that's how long it will take you to get a table. The front waiting area is so crowded it is like being at Madison Square Garden. After an hour my party gave up and we went somewhere else. I took pity on those who dared to wait it out. Park City is a very charming town with my other dining options, all of which you should consider before you waste your timing waiting hours for a table to eat food that I'm told could be cooked at a Roy Rogers. If you go there, all I can say is, you have been warned..... more

WOW!!! 3/3/2004

Grappa is definitely the BEST restaurant in town. The food and ambiance takes dining to a whole new level. The servers are professional and knowledgeable. Hosts are personable and helpful. When in PC this definitely needs to be on your list of things to do. Along with Grappa, the Bill White Enterprises group also owns three other dining pleasures in town, Chimayo, Wahso, and The Windy Ridge Cafe. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance more

Grappa is the BEST! 12/19/2002

Grappa has the best food, service, ambiance in Park City - Bill White knows how to do it right, and the desserts are wonderful, Stephanie, the pastry chef is a phenom! Pros: great food, great ambiance, great service Cons: expensive, parking sometimes a p more

Unusual But Excellent 12/12/2002

Most locals would agree that Grappa is one of the best 5 restaurants in Park City. The food is excellent, if a little too structural in presentation. The wine list is great, if a little expensive. The atmosphere is fantastic, with no qualifications. Grappa is one of uor favorites and we have had some of our all time best experiences at Grappa! We love sitting outside on the terraced decks when the weather, aided by the out door heaters permits. more

gone down hill? 8/29/2002

Grappa used to be one of the best dining experiences in Utah. I don't know what happened but my last 2 dining experiences were not up to par with my memory. I still think it has some of the best ambience around. I think there maybe better restaurants for the same price Pros: ambience, ambience, cool building Cons: stairs more

Romantic destination 5/14/2002

Grappa has several secluded niches and tables making for a romantic dining experience. Flavors are bold and presentation is pleasing. The restaurant is warm and welcoming in the winter and the patio is lovely in the summer. You can spend a lot of money here on dinner, but it's pretty on the level with Park City prices. Pros: Romantic Cons: Expensive more
