Danny changed my hair life (for the utmost better) 6 years ago after I happened to get my hair cut by him before a wedding. it looked great but I wasn't really paying much attention to it immediately, as there was a flurry of family from all over the world in town for this wedding. As my hair slowly grew a bit, I realized it fell and looked better than it ever had before in my entire life and that was it. I decided nobody else would touch my hair...until I decided to move to Portland. I jokingly asked Danny if he and his wife Katie would move to Portland just so he could continue to cut my hair. They didn't and so my hair suffered for 5 years until now as I just moved back to the East coast and made a beeline for Danny. He is technical, experienced and talented - and unlike the one good stylist I found in Portland, he's not creepy or annoying :). Just go straight to him. Happily Hair Ever After. The End. more

I went to Grapevine Hair Studio recently for the first time. I had worked hard to grow my hair out after having the very short and angled ""posh spice"" for years, and I did not want to lose any of the length I had worked so hard for. \r \r I brought in a picture for Katie and she was very receptive to the idea. She talked to me the entire time about what she was doing and why, including instruction on styling and drying techniques. She suggested products that would help me with my style, but was not overly pushy to buy! buy! buy! I left with a great cut. I sent to Grapevine Hair Studio yesterday and received an AMAZING hair cut from Katie Elder, one of the stylists at the studio. Not only is she an amazing artist but she is a wonderful person. Kind, generous and just an overall nice person. She gave me the best haircut that I've had in YEARS. It was a wonderful experience and she is now my new stylist from now on. I've never had a better haircut then the one Katie gave me today! I haven't lived in the area long, but I have waited too long to get a trim. I've had both traditional and funky haircuts and color from Grapevine, and all have been superb, easy to maintain, and long-lasting. I always leave so happy, and in this economy, I can even go 4-6 weeks between appointments and still look great. Jennifer and other stylists are amazingly well educated and easy to talk to. Hip and professional Canton salon. Jen is the only one who has never messed up my previouly inconsistent haircuts. Katie, Jen, and Daniel work wonders with womens' color and style, as evidenced by my high maintenance wife. Sort of just kidding! Grapevine's crew travels to NYC and to Vegas for Aveda education and free stuff. Parking is easy, they have tons of personality, and you'll look good. I have lived in many cities and have experienced many different spa's, salons, hair studios....even children's salons. It's been 13 years now that Danny Elder has been cutting and coloring my hair. The reason's why, because he is the best I've ever experienced with both color and cut. He is personable, good looking and know's good style. He has been educated in hair color and is a great color specialist. Danny is also a perfectionist. Always has to be perfect:) So, if you go in looking for a makeover, then you can trust that you will come out looking MUCH BETTER. Jenn, Katie and Danny are a cool little salon family. Grapevine plays great music, it's intimate, hip, colorful and in my opinion the best in Baltimore. Try it!!!! Trust the color specialists, they know what works best for you.. As a guy that has always struggled to find a hair ""style"" as opposed to the traditional short-boys, blocked in the back, trimmed over the ears haircut, I placed my hair in the hands of Jenn and let her have her way. For the first time in my adult life, I left Grapevine with a STYLE that actually complimented my face and a haircut that had the people at work asking ""what I had changed?"". PERFECT!!!! Love the atmosphere, love the price and most important LOVE MY NEW DOO! No more barbershops for this guy! Pros: Clean, Crisp, Professional with great music and coffee! Cons: None! more

Just left Grapevine and my color is amazing! Danny really listened to what I wanted and now I have a beautiful natural red shine! I've been going there for 8 years and I've never been disappointed! The team there really knows there stuff, as they regularly go to seminars and classes to learn the latest techniques. I'm looking forward to having Danny and Katie Elder do the hair and make-up for my entire wedding party this summer! Kudos! Pros: I really feel at home and always get what I want! more

In response to user Cheba 1981: As a loyal customer of Grapevine's since 2004, I find this negative review very hard to believe. Danny Elder is easily the most amazing stylist in Baltimore, if not on the East Coast. I have friends that come down from New York City to visit me, and to get their hair done by Danny. All of my friends get their hair done by Danny, and would never leave him for another stylist, because he is THAT GOOD. I am a stickler for perfection, and I have never had anything less than amazing services performed for me, by Danny. Danny recently started cutting my boyfriend's hair, and in one hour took him from High School Musical to Prada Runway. Look at all the other reviews of this salon and it's stylists, and this is the only negative one. I think this clearly speaks for the reviewer, not the experience. Pros: Everything. Grapvine RULES! I've only been in Baltimore a few years but have been bouncing around between stylists for various reasons. A friend of mine had been badgering me to see Danny for a few months and I am the happiest girl in the world that I did. I love the studio, its not far from my house, which is a plus but its also got this awesome vibe when you step in the door. Fortunately for me, they do late appointments, that's been an issue with other places, the stylist I want only works till 5 or 6 so I have find a way to squeeze a cut in during lunch which is always rushed and unsatisfying. Cut back to my haircut. I love Danny. HE LISTENED TO ME!!!! My hair was a mess, I'd neglected it for months and needed someone with a good eye to save it. All I wanted was straight bangs and from him to clean up the layers that were buried under whatever I was passing for a hairstyle. So before I even really said anything beyond that he explained what he thought would work and it turned out amazing, better than I imagined! After being lectured about the over-use of my straightener (oops), he styled my hair and sent me on my way. I have been getting tons of compliments since. I think Grapevine (and Danny) will be my permanent hair home. Pros: Fantastic studio, great stylist! Cons: Nothing!!! more

Moved to Baltimore about a year ago and recently went to Grapevine in search of a short hair cut to change my long cut that Ive had forever!! Always so scared to try anything new!! And lucky enough to be scheduled with Katie! From the minute she started she took the time to listen and seemed like she really knew what she was doing! She is confident and seems to know a lot about great hairstyles! She took into account everything I said, even the crazy ones, and recommended some tips as she went along. I have tried two other salons in the Baltimore area ,and I will be going back to Katie! I came out with a fabulous layered look that was a big change! I feel great about my new look!! I have been seeing Jennifer as my stylist for over 5 years. I can always count on Jennifer to give me a great haircut that even grows out well :) The entire staff at Grapevine is very friendly. i have thin fine hair. to get my hair cut and colored it doesn't take long. i was early to my appointment and the stylist was still with another costumer. which was fine. once i was with him we barely discussed colour or cut. well not really anything about cut. not what i wanted or what i was looking for. he picked the colours. said he was matching my roots. my natural color is a light brown and now i have a dark brown color? \r after my hair was washed and a leave in conditioner was applied i waited. and waited. i waited for him to finish with the previous costumer. when it was finally my turn there was again no discussion of what i wanted with my hair. when i said i wanted bangs he told me how he was going to do this or that, again not listening to what i wanted. then he began to rush to finish my hair cut and booted me over to another stylist to dry and style my hair so he could move on to his next costumer. \r after 3 hours!!! i was charged 160 for the cut and color!! \r if i am going to pay that amount i would like the stylist to listen to my suggestions or ask me more questions and to definitely not rush with cutting my hair! \r and it was definitely not worth 3 hours -- where at least an hour and a half i was waiting with a wet head. I lived in NYC for three years and had a stylist/colorist that I adored. I have a texturized short hair style and would always get compliments. However when I moved back home to Baltimore, my hair was never the same. All in all I tried 17 different stylists over the period of three years. I was always forced to make the trip up north to get my old stylist to 'fix' it. Every stylist I tried would give me a 'mom' do or would want to do what they wanted and not what I wanted. It was never quite right....until I stumbled on Katie. I read the reviews here and decided to give it a shot. WOW! I was blown away! In fact after my first cut with her, everyone told me it looked like my old hair again. I called my stylist up in NYC and told him that I would not be seeing him any longer as I had finally found someone in Baltimore who rocked! I can't thank Katie enough for the great cut. I came in with a crazy hair style that i wanted, lots of color. My hair was damaged on one side. First we had to bleach my hair and it was a little fried from previous dye jobs. Katie cared enough about my hair to send me home with a deep conditioner rather than put the colors in on that afternoon. She rescheduled me for the next day and my hair was well prepared for the coloring. She gave me a little cut and a deep conditioning. Not only do i love my hair, but it also feels great. Everyone there was very polite, even the other customers getting their hair done. They have great prices and deals on products as well. I will defininetly go there for all my hair needs in the future. Pros: Really close to my work, great atmosphere Cons: Nada more

I've never had highlights before so I was a little nervous to get them. I've had such bad dye jobs on my hair soI didn't want to go through another one. I'm new in going to see Daniel but read great reviews about him on this site, so decided to go and see him for color. Everything people say about him is true! He cut, colored and highlighted my hair and it looks awesome. I honestly don't think it's ever looked better. Thanks, Daniel!! I'll be back for sure! more
