great tobacco, good conversation 12/20/2006

Grant's has a great selection of cigars, cigarettes, and pipe tobacco. Even if they don't have the exact thing you're looking for, they will have something similar that will satisfy you. If you can't find tobacco to smoke in this shop that you like, then you're too damn picky. The "lounge" area is a great place to hang out and enjoy a smoke and converse with the crowd or just watch the scene on Market Street. Pros: excellent selection of tobacco products Cons: they're not open 24 hours a day more

Best tobaccanist in San Francisco 12/18/2006

I've been a customer of Grant's for over a year now. Their walk-in humidor selection is great, and they also carry a wide variety of pipes and pipe tobacco including their own blends dating back decades. The staff is the most knowledgable i've found anywhere. If you're a San Francisco native, you already know this place. If you're in town visiting you owe it to yourself to stop by, pick out a fine cigar and a chair and enjoy some of the colorful personalities that frequent this establishment. Pros: Excellent selection. Knowledgable staff. Cons: Isn't in front of my house. more

Lousy 11/13/2006

I called and asked if they had Mac Baren's Mixture. The guy who answered gave me a "yeah". I then wanted to confirm that it was "Scottish Mixture". He checked, and found out that in reality- they had NO Mac baren mixture of any kind (and only a few tins of other types of Mac Baren). Pros: One of the few pipe stores left in San Francisco Cons: Clueless guy answers the phone, no interest in customer service (otherwise they should have trained him) more
