very modest hote 10/20/2010

This was all about location and price. This is a very modest hotel and met my basic needs. Clean sheets and towels, secure room and excellent location. more

A Big Plus ! 9/29/2010

Public restrooms are hard to find in San Francisco so this was a big plus after we checked out at noon but were not ready to leave for the airport until 5 pm. The staff recommended good public transportation routes and good local restaurants. more

very very good location 9/28/2010

A good location with new furniture, sparkling fixtures, and clean bedding, The Grant does show its age. The smaller rooms may be a shock to Americans but not to Europeans. The staff was very friendly and helpful. more

Perfect get away 9/24/2010

This hotel was perfect for a San Francisco get-away. Centrally located to everything, it was just a matter of deciding where we wanted to go first. There was nothing we couldn't walk to. The hotel staff was very nice, the room was neat and clean and the hotel validated parking for a parking garage near by, so we could just park our car for the entire stay. more

walking distance to the train which is great 9/22/2010

Location is great - walking distance to the train which takes you to and from the airport, union square (do all your shopping), and visitor's center where you get all the maps, hop on the trolley, etc. more

No better deal in town 9/20/2010

It's got a great vibe and the front-end staff were SUPER friendly when I checked in, so I gotta give this place a 4-star review. For the area in which it sits, right on the brink of the Financial District, it's pretty tough to find a better deal in town. more

Clean well ran and very helpful, great location 9/16/2010

Perfect location -near the shopping, just in Chinatown and close to all cablecars, streetcars and buses. Clean, well run and very helpful. more

Location is Great 9/15/2010

The location of the hotel is the best part about it - right on the corner of Grant Avenue and Pine Street, at the beginning of Chinatown and right at the edge of the Downtown Financial District. MUNI and BART stations are within about a 10 minute walking distance, and so is Union Square and tons of shops. more

I'd stay here again in a heartbeat 9/13/2010

Right smack dab in the middle of Chinatown and walking distance to everyplace else. more

Surprised with this Hotel 9/7/2010

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. more

Great Time 9/3/2010

Centrally located near everything. Great time was had The hotel is great for family vacations. The fact that it did not have parking was not problematic because we took a train and had no car anyway, public transportation is awesome in the area anyway. The staff was extremely helpful. more

Great Location 9/1/2010

The location was so great. We walked down hill and could shop around our favorite stores more

Nice People 8/30/2010

Awesome location, nice people, the hotel was spotless and everything was really clean. more

Decent and simple 8/26/2010

Can't complain. I arrived in SF on a rainy afternoon and the reception guy even lent me his ombrella. The beds aren't huge, but they are confortable, and the place is quiet. Simple but you get everything you need. All in all had a good experience. more

  • The Scene
Located on the Powell Street cable car line, this hotel projects an image of refined luxury. The "Court" in its name refers to the courtyard automobile entrance, which flaunts a large, stained-glass dome over a fountain. The almost-hidden covered entrance is as discreet as they come, leading into an intimate marble lobby that is uncluttered yet inviting.

    The Details
The 400 rooms are large and comfortable, and you may feel as if you're staying in a fine, old Virginia country house. A $6 million refurbishment in 2000 added cushy but more modern furnishings, with Asian accessories and calming color schemes in cool blue or leaf green. Bathrooms have towel warmers and a small TV. Suites are dressed with original antiques. Details matter here--complimentary coffee and newspaper arrive at your door every morning. Public spaces include a beautiful ballroom, a lovely bar and Fournou's Ovens restaurant.
