Great Neighborhood Hardware Store 8/18/2005

I think that Grand Avenue Hardware Do It Best (formerly Ace Hardware) is a great neighborhood hardware store. It is fun to wander through their two floors of wares. I am always impressed at what I find. However, what is more important is the customer service. You can always find someone to help you, which can’t be said about the gigantic home improvement super stores! more

A nice neighborhood hardware store 8/18/2005

Grand Avenue's Do It Best hardware store, formerly affilitated with ACE, is a nice hardware store convenient to residents of the Macalester/Groveland community of St. Paul. With two floor, it's fairly large, and boast both quality goods and a knowledgable staff, so generally the shopping experience is a pleasant one. I've never been unable to find what I need, although occasionally I end up paying much more for it than I'd planned. The only downside to Do It Best is that it is occasionally overrun with junior high students from the school across the street; this problem has been cut down by signs posting limiting visits by these youngsters to two at a time. more

Excellent hardware store 8/17/2005

I really like this hardware store. It’s pretty good sized, so it has most everything you’re looking for. Most hardware stores have helpful staff, and this is no exception. In fact, it probably has above average staff. The prices are reasonable. The inventory, staff, and price factors are probably the three key elements of a good hardware store, so this definitely does the trick. more
