Terrorist Tactics 5/4/2010

I had a bad experience here. I chipped a tooth and thought I could just get it filed down because the point was bothering my tongue otherwise I was in no pain. Dr. Holloway examined me and he told me the tooth was decaying and had to be removed and I would need a root canal before this spread to the next tooth. Then of course a post and crown installed. All this would be over $2000. I asked if this was all necessary and could it wait because I didn't have much money or insurance. He said the sooner the better and seemed perturbed that I sat in the chair thinking about it for a few minutes. I ended up going through with it. Well about a year later it started to hurt , a dull pain that affected the whole side of my face from under my eye to that fake tooth.I went to a dentist at a clinic and he found a small dark spot on the X-ray of that tooth and said this could be an infection and that could be the problem. So I went back to Dr. Holloway with the X-ray and he said it was not an infection. When I asked what the pain could be he brought another doctor in and they both agreed that it could be trigeminal neuralgia and said you can't do anything about that. I finally went to NYU dental with the X-ray and they said that yes indeed it was an infection. They gave me an apicoectomy and it's much better although it's not like it used to be before this whole fiasco started . I still want to get the post and crown removed. I don't think I'll ever get another crown after this bad experience with Dr. Glen Holloway. I would rate this establishment negative infinite stars! more

They don't care 4/20/2009

I went in for my first visit with them. Nothing special but nothing horrible. Then, they told me I had a cavity and would have to get a filling. That's when the trouble started. He put in the filling, it was my first filling, so I'm not sure how much it was supposed to hurt, but from what I've heard it shouldn't hurt at all. He told me to let him know if it hurt, I did, he shot me up more, but it didn't help. After a couple days it still hurt so I went back in, he tried to fix it, but it still hurt. I went in two more times and he was still unable to fix it. Then he sent me to an endodontist to get a root canal. I was unable to eat on that side of my mouth for three months by the time the root canal was done, plus the root canal ended up costing me $550. Once it was all done I called back to get some money back for all the problems, at least the $60 for the messed up filling. Unfortunately he was unwilling to take responsibility for his mistake and did not care that he put me through all this. more

Good service for this patient 6/2/2008

I have been going here for 3 years and it is always a good experience, on par with care I have received in NJ and better than 2 other NYC dentists I tried. Ellen gives the best cleanings known to humankind. I swear after you come out of her chair, you don't have to brush for like a week. Everything just bounces off. Seriously though, I have only good things to say after several visits for routine stuff - cleanings and the occasional filling. Thumbs up. more

One Word Description: Inept 5/14/2008

1. Incoherent: Dr. Young is unable to engage in a coherent discussion regarding the 'care' you can expect to receive from her. 2. Unprofessional: They are horrendously unprofessional. Case in point: I showed up for my appointment and waited about 45 minutes to be seen. The dentist was UNABLE to do the scheduled work because she was unprepared and UNABLE to obtain the required information from their own records. To top it off, I was then given conflicting 'explanations' regarding why the work couldn't be done. 3. I was then told that I could either wait for an additional 45 minutes to an hour, as they had scheduled another patient at the same time, or I could make a new appointment. 4. They then tried to give me an appointment one month away - to finish the root canal they started. As I said: INEPT. more

service good, the mood bad 11/2/2007

The wait is long, all the doctor's office's wait is long. So, it was ok. But the service was not so good. The doctor was seeing two patients at one time. going back and forth bet. myself and the other. The receptionist was very unprofessional. Do not wanna go back to that office. more

Professional, Good Service 8/17/2005

I went there for the first time a few weeks ago. The staff was nice, the doctors were insightful and the pamphlets were actually useful. While the service is no where near what you get out of state, for NY it is up there with the best. If you are looking for great low cost affordable health care...come here! more

no complaints, no complements 8/16/2005

I chose Gramercy Park Dental because it’s close to my office. That’s pretty much all I can say about it. The service was fine and standard (as usual for me and my sensitive teeth: it hurt). But I didn’t have any problem leaving for some where else. One gets the feeling, in part because they share space with an optometrist, that they’re there for the buck and don’t really have repeat customers. In fact, I don’t think I saw anybody over 40 in the waiting room ever. They’ll do, but they’re nothing to write home about. more
