I was meeting a friend of mine that was in town and staying at the Fontainebleau. Because it's one of the most beautiful hotels in the world we thought we would simply stay and take in the ambiance and eat on the premises.
Gotham seemed a beautiful place, just off the main hotel bar, and though expensive (and how) we thought the steaks must be well worth it.
Well, to make a long story short.
- The service was snobby
- The steaks seemed of mediocre quality
- We ordered our steaks medium rare and black and blue... they came back well done.
- An expensive bottle of wine that we ordered was not decanted and we found ourselves sipping sediment towards the end.
They were less than apologetic when we complained and suggested we not return (not in so many words, but we got the hint)
- For what was spent (just under $1,000), all I can say is that burning the money would probably have given us more satisfaction.
Pros: beautiful location, great ambiance
Cons: snobby and poor service, badly prepared food
