Good food and juices but Bad Service 3/2/2010

Food is great and the menu has good options for grass eaters. The juices and smoothies are to die for. The service isn't great at all. I went there on a Saturday evening and it took long for the server to serve, get the check and check us out. It felt like an eternity. Pros: Veggie options on the menu Cons: Service more

Great food, but where's the service?? 9/5/2008

What is the worth of a wholesome meal, when the service creates so much anxiety? I've eaten tasty, colorful meals in this restaurant for years, but the last two visits were met with such poor service that I will hestitate before going again. The servers were much more interested in interacting w/ each other than w/ the patrons. On both of my last two visits I had to flag someone down to take my order -- this after sitting at the table for 20 and 15 minutes respectively (I was hungrier on the second time, so less patient). Nourishment is more than what is on the plate. Pros: Healthy, delicious food. Cons: Servers inattentive at best. more

There's a reason that you might have to wait an hour for a table here! 6/1/2008

Are you people on meth? Why would anyone whine about getting free bread and hummus? more

A bad relic of a time where healthy eaters were punished for their beliefs. 4/9/2008

The last time that I went to the Good Earth in Edina, we were not even given the opportunity to eat. You see, we were refugees from the ridiculously popular Original Pancake House and despite the fact that the Good Earth still reliably serves Eighties style bland health food we felt there might be a strong chance of getting a table and most importantly our two year old toddler some breakfast. My son had recently been diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy so as a precaution I asked the hostess if they used peanut oil. The hostess nervously stammered that she was not sure that they didn't and that she needed to go get her manager. She quickly exited into the back room and returned with a frosty blonde Edina lady who assured us that we would have to go elsewhere as they have peanuts in the kitchen. I attempted to communicate the fact that my son's allergy is such that as long as he does not ingest peanuts or anything related to peanuts, he would indeed be fine. She became even more adamant that she could not and would not guarantee the absence of peanuts in my son's food. Unbelievable. Now the petty part of me wants to tell you that I know for a fact those bread baskets are sometimes made up of other people's uneaten bread. I also want to tell you that the Good Earth's kitchen is filled with not so good Earth like materials. But that would be petty. I will close by stating that I will never patronize this mediocre relic of a time when vegetarians only ate tasteless food (see mudpie). Pros: You can get a table on a sunday Cons: Allergy sufferers and fresh bread lovers beware! more

The look and service of Dennys/Perkins in the Galleria!! 11/18/2007

My mother in law has been boasting about this place for years. She's a huge fan because this restaurant is healthy for you and the food is organic. We went on Saturday night with no reservations. I'm glad I wasn't too hungry because the wait was about 35 minutes. My initial reaction to the place was that I thought it was extremely below par for being in the Galleria-but then again, most of the more

What is going on with the service? 7/6/2006

Since we moved here in January we have at least gone to this wonderful restaurant at least 3 times a month. The food is fantastic and the tea is the best. Pros: The wonderful wholesome healthy food Cons: spotty service more

Worst service in the Midwest 8/6/2005

I waited 15 minutes for an awful seat next to the kitchen. I placed my order, after physically GRABBING the waitress, then waited 15 minutes, served the wrong thing, waited 15 more minutes, served ANOTHER wrong dish, finally got what I ordered. The heirloom tomatoes were out of this world, but I was so pissed off by the service and the attitude that I swore never to eat here again. While the food is good, you can cook it all for yourself at home and enjoy the ambiance and the silence there. Pros: healthy, tasty, in the mall Cons: awful service, terrible decor, long waits more

The Definition of ""Wholesome"" 2/18/2004

This is the hippie eatery of choice, but it's good for us regular folks, too. It's organic, but not to the point of being boiled grass in a flower pot. Most dishes taste satisfactory, while also being pretty healthy. The turkey meatloaf is excellent, and the selection of non-alcoholic, non-carbonated drinks are second to none. I wouldn't come here every week, but it's a good change of pace every month or so. Pros: Eclectic beverages, Natural ingredients, Pretty healthy Cons: , A hair overpriced more

Yum! 7/21/2003

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I love the atmosphere and the food is excellent. For those who think the food is bland, try the coconut curried chicked. If you still think the foor has no flavor see a doctor and make sure your tastebuds work. I love the ""Whole Lemonade"" as well. I highly recomend the Good Earth! Pros: Great Food, Nice Staff, Quiet Atmosphere Cons: Sometimes Busy more

Not bad! 1/22/2003

Imagine a restaurant with the decor of Perkins and a menu loaded with lots of vegan/veggie stuff. It certainly lacks the ambience of the Seward Cafe, but then again, this Good Earth is in the Galleria. Lots of tasty dishes (I highly recommend the buckwheat pancakes). more

Vegetarian-Organic With Attitude 9/3/2002

Wonderful vegetable soup, and cashew-chicken salad sandwiches on heavy-grain bread. Fun takeout bakery for muffins and tea. more

Snobbery Defined 8/2/2002

I'm not one to put on airs, so I wasn't suprised when I noticed out all the raised noses in Good Earth were not smelling the food. Both staff and patrons seem to believe they're doing each other favors just by being there. (This IS E.D.I.N.A. - Every Day I Need Affirmation - after all.) The food is bland at best. I've never paid for such a boring omlette. The tables are skinny and crammed together. Heaven forbid you or those at the table next to you need to visit the restroom. There seems to be an obligatory wait every time we visit, even if there are a plethora of available tables. My mother-in-law loves the Galleria, so I'm probably destined to visit Good Earth again. (Sigh.) Pros: Quite Uppity Cons: Bland Food, Crowded, Quite Uppity more
