My wife and I love chinese food. We ate at the Mandarin on our first date and again on the night I proposed to her. We love P.F. Changs as well. But at the same time, we can appreciate the draw of a good chinese buffet--sometimes quantity is just more important than quality. :-) So we are always eager to find great new places for chinese, and Golden Isle has the bonus of being a stone's throw from our house. Please, please avoid the mistake of trying this place out. It is not one of those nice family-run dives that sacrifices cleanliness and service in favor of great food at low prices. A family-run dive it is, and a lack of cleanliness it has, but good food and low prices it most certainly does NOT have. The food is bad enough that I would hesitate to pay more than $2.00 for a plate of it, let alone the $8 they actually charge. My wife, who loves EVERYTHING having to do with chinese cuisine, involuntarily spat out her first bite of it. Perhaps the biggest testament to the poor quality of the food is the fact that despite our extreme love of chinese food, we have vowed never to eat at the Golden Isle again, even though we pass it daily on our way home from work. The chicken was the toughest I have ever had (worse than food court chinese) and was literally more gristle than meat. My wife's dish was so loaded with garlic she couldnt keep it in her mouth, and she normally enjoys garlic dishes. Bad flavors, bad textures, and luke warm when they brought it to us, despite the fact that we were one of only two occupied tables at the time. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if you are wanting chinese--even Panda Express is superior to the Golden Isle.
Cons: truly the worst chinses food i have ever had
