Do you want to go to the hair stylist that the stars wish they knew about? Well check out Glenn Jason Hair Design, I did and I felt pampered and taken care of from beginning to end. But while that?s nice, what?s most important aspect of this equation is that I looked great! I have to say he?s a cool guy, and knows what?s in, and whether or not you can work it! I also expected to pay lots of cha-ching but it cost me just $100 and my friend, who?s a dude, paid only $70 ? guys always get off cheaper. The consultation was personal and fun, and frankly I?m sending all my friends, so you might have trouble actually scoring an appointment. Anyway the studio is awesome, very airy, and while he lives and works there, you never feel out of place. Its close to public transportation too - we rolled into Penn station, and walked a few blocks and we were there. more

His intimate, yet spacious live/work Chelsea location is just blocks from Penn Station, which makes it ideal for suburban, Long Island commuters as well. He only takes in two clients at a time, so expect a totally personalized and customized experience. He can cut and style your hair to an exact match of a photo of a hairstyle you think is hot, so feel free to pack a picture if you want. more

If you are looking for an edgy look and is willing to put it in the hands of the person cutting your hair, than this is the place for you. Don?t expect precise cuts that take minutes among minutes cutting strand-by-strand making sure each one is even. When you get a haircut here, it?s more about the way it looks afterwards than the amount of time cutting your hair that matters. I often find myself not knowing what haircut I want to get next. I admit, sometimes I?m indecisive. I don?t want to have to tell somebody how I want my haircut and what I want done to it. I want them to just do what they feel will look great. That?s what I love about this place and it has been exactly what I was looking for. Don?t go here if you are a control freak and want things done one way and like to get pampered at your salon. It?s actually the complete opposite and that?s what?s great about it. The atmosphere feels very chill and comfortable, super realistic. It totally alleviates any pre-jitters before getting a cut. What a hip place and what a talented artist! Glenn knows just what to do when it comes to hair. This guys looks at every head like it is a piece of art. He can invent a look for you that will have heads turning as you walk down 5th ave. He is a master at everything from color, cutting or straightening. He also know exactly what products to suggest for you hair type and he shows you how to style your hair so that it doesn?t just look good on the day you leave the shop, rather is looks good always! I have been looking for a new stylist for the past year since mine decided to pick up and move to LA. After trying out several different trendy salons a friend suggested I go see Glenn. I needed someone that I could trust with my hair and my friend who is rather vain said this is the man for you. She has been working with Glenn for years and I must say, she always looks super trendy with her hip hairstyles. At this point I have three men in my life that I can?t live without: My husband, My son and my stylist Glenn. more

After reading a slew of reviews about this seemingly controversial hair salon, I decided to take a gamble and try Glenn Jason on for size. As someone who is VERY particular about my hair and almost chronically dissatisfied with new stylists, I have to say that I did not hate my experience here, which is huge. My aunt has worked for Bumble and Bumble for most of her adult life and I have been extremely spoiled when it comes to finding a new do?, mostly because she just decides for me and goes with it. My biggest pet peeve with stylists is that they tend to get scissor happy and end up cutting way more off than I ever want. Glenn was totally accommodating to my needs of ?keeping the length?, something that is almost impossible to explain once you?re sitting in that chair. His friendly disposition and potty mouth are a perfect match for my cynical attitude and rivaling sailor?s mouth. I disagree with other reviewers who say that spending a short amount of time on a person?s hair means that it isn?t a quality haircut, or that they feel they?re paying too much for not enough work. I?ve had stylists spend up to 45 minutes on my hair and it ends up looking like a trainwreck, and others who do a fantastic job in just a few minutes because they really know how to work with hair. Glenn Jason falls into the latter category. Friendly, accommodating, professional, and unabashedly New York, he may be my new favorite addition to maintaining my mane. more

Barbershops will never go out of style but Salon shops are quickly becoming the main competition. Glenn Jason Hair Design is a hip and eccentric place to get your hair cut or rather ""designed."" The owner, Glenn, is an amazing person, who knows exactly what he's doing, and you can surely trust him with your hair. The atmosphere is postmodern and hip, which gives off a more futuristic feel to the facility. Glenn Jason Hair Design, is an amazing hair salon, and you just have to get your hair cut here once. more

I went to Glenn a month or so ago and plan on returning because I love the atmosphere as well as the man himself. Both the place and the man are unusual, hip and amusing, and that's what I want given that I live in New York City and could otherwise go to any number of usual and serious salons. Glenn has a great education, and it showed in my cut. I've got thick, coarse curly hair, and after an excellent consultation with him I've now got a cut where I can work my hair rather than work against it. He's also a reknowned colorist, so next time I think I'll go for color, too. more

2 yrs it took? to find someone I can trust to cut my hair - Glenn ALWAYS hooks me up with a good cut and is a cool dude to shoot the sh*t with. more

I bought a keratin blowout on living social. I made the soonest appt, which was two months away. A week before my appt, I got a message that there was a glitch in the scheduling and I had to be rescheduled. I've left two messages at the main number (which is never answered) and no one has called me back for over a week (and no one returned my previous unrelated message from over a month ago). No one answers the cell phone number I was given after numerous attempts, and there is no voicemail. Now, after waiting two months, I have to seek a refund. Don't waste your time. more

So I read all these Yelp reviews....they are beyond praising, and I checked out the Glen Jason Site which states the guy is clearly credible so I decided to make an appointment. I work in music and have always had friends hook me up with hair for cheap but I was in need of a fresh approach. I get to Glen's salon (which is off of 8th ave in ghostland) and it's basically an apt / store front that he works out of...bohemian vibe, kinda felt like Santa Monica. These little poofy dogs ran right up to me and Glen greeted me super casual and friendly. I ended up getting color and cut. The color was brilliant. The cut was brilliant. All done super nonchalantly but with precision. Glen is an artist. There's no denying it. Once he gets rolling with his work (your hair) he kind of checks out...the way a painter would once they play the right song, sip the right sip of wine and find the right touch for their canvas...or even an accountant tearing through numbers...it's his craft and unlike the other salons I've gone to, Glen is super chill and a really nice guy. It's his place, his show, his talent....The best thing about it is the guy could talk forever about how many celebs, rockers, vips hair he's cut, where he's worked etc. he could hang pictures and creds on the wall but he doesn't. About two years ago, my girlfriend recommended I see Glenn Jason. Over the years, we have actually turned into really good friends. Glenn is one of the most interesting people I have ever had the pleasure to come in contact with. That being said, I am actually extremely picky about my hair so although I enjoy Glenn's company if he didn't give me good haircuts I wouldn't have stuck around this long. Lucky for me, that is not the case. I have played with different looks and Glenn is always able to keep me looking fresh. I have been to some of the ""best"" salons New York has to offer, and Glenn hands down has continually given me the best haircuts. The first time I went to him I gave him a less severe photo of the victoria beckhem bob. He gave me the exact haircut that was in the photo, EXCEPT BETTER. I couldn't believe I hadn't found this guy sooner. Glenn is a busy guy these days but for good reason. He really knows how to make you feel welcome!! I have a glass of wine every time I go and I love playing with his little puppies. Pros: great hair, great conversation, cool atmosphere, and cute dogs! Glenn Jason has a way with my curly hair. It seems like it is so difficult to find someone who really knows how to cut curly hair, but being that Glenn has pretty curly hair himself, he gets it. I have seriously spent most of my life wishing I had straight hair because I never knew until I met Glenn what my hair could actually look like. I like to just wash and go so he gave me a stylish haircut that looks great even if I just throw product in it and go. Low maintenance. While he was styling my hair in the salon he explained exactly what he was doing so that I could replicate the look myself. It is easy to look good when you leave the salon but the true test is when you style it on your own. I 100% approve. My once pyramid shaped hair now has an actual shape that elongates my face (thank god because I have such chubby cheeks!!). I can't say enough great things about Glenn's talent. I love my curly hair and I love Glenn!!! more

I get around....at least when it comes to my hair. I have cheated on every hair stylist I have had since moving to nyc but I can finally say that I've found the one. He was able to tame the beast (the beast being my hair). I love what he did with the shape!! For the first time my hair is thinned out in all the right places. When we were done their was a huge pile of hair on the floor even though I didn't lose any length! He gave me exactly what I wanted. super down to earth guy who is so talented at what he does. hes the rockstar hair guru in this city and everyone loves what he does to their hair. i've been recommending glenn to all my radio buddies for years and everyone that goes to glenn's salon comes out super happy with their haircut. i'll always be coming back to glenn for highlight retouches and bugging him for more layers just because he does it so well. more

glenn is the guy who really knows how to cut my hair. why is it that when you walk out of a salon your hair always looks good, but after a day of perfect hair it looks different the next day after you've showered and slept. this never happens after glenn does his magic on my hair. my hair stays the same whether i shower or play with it, or do whatever to it. he cuts it in a way that keeps it in perfect shape. he always uses these different cool scissors. my hair always looks so fabulous thanks to glenn.
