Best

The food here is fantastic; you get very large portions (the entrees can feed 2 people) for about $12. Pizza is very good too; nice thin crust, tons of cheese, and they don't ski...

Fantastic value for your money 7/19/2008

good food - annoying service 7/18/2008

The food here is great, but friendly...not so much. The service is amiss - to place an order here is the most dramatic task one could assume - the woman taking the orders gets flustered at the slightest request and it takes forever to get your food.\r \r If you are not in a rush and if incapable phone handlers don'y annoy you, then definitely go to Gino's! It's delish!\r Pros: food Cons: phone lady more

Favorite local Italian 10/5/2007

I almost want to keep this place a best kept secret for the Upper East Side. The staff are friendly, the place is casual and clean, and the food is an AMAZING deal--it's really good and it's reasonably priced. For $8, you can buy a half carafe of the house cabernet ($2/glass!). The salads there are my favorite--not only are they huge, they always include pricey ingredients (avocado, fresh mozzarella or goat cheese, shitake mushrooms, grilled shrimp, palm hearts, artichokes...) but only cost $9. The pasta dishes are equally priced and generous in portion size and also come with vegetable sides. Let's also not forget the bread, which always arrives perfectly warm. \r \r The place is cash only, but considering wine+two enormous entrees costs $30-something, it's never really been a problem. Pros: Casual and Friendly, Cheap and generous portions Cons: none! more

great price for an OK pie! 12/7/2003

The price is right for the mediocre pizza; but the pizza, simply put is OK, nothing special. I am not quite sure why all the rave reviews, fantastic crust, amazing pizza, what is so amazing about it. I will agree with the service, wonderful people and very fast delivery. I would recommend that you try it but if you want real NY pizza, try Nicks or Totonnos, it maybe a little bit pricey for pizza but you get what you pay for. more

great mussels! 12/28/2002

Great mussles! In fact, that's what made me a regular at Ginos. Everything I had there was delicious. They don't open until 5 on weekends, which is a big mistake (I'd be eating lunch there on Sundays). They could uses a better beer selection, but their wine list is ok for a pizza joint. The tables in the back are set aside for dinner, but it's a good place for an informal meal or a good place to call for take out (they deliver). Try the chicken fiorello when they have it, it's wonderful. The bad news is, they only take cash. Pros: great food, good value Cons: no ambience, cash only more

Fine Pizza 11/18/2002

He's right, it's not your typical sweaty pizza place. The service is friendly and accomodating and the menu is fantastic. the soups, salads, and entrees are well made. Oh, and the pizza. Crust, crust, crust! You gotta try it Pros: Greta menu, Good pizza more

This Place ROCKS 5/28/2002

1st of all, its really nice inside... so its not like your typical sweaty pizza parlor. 2nd of all, its the same price as all those sweaty pizza parlors and 3rdly, its GOOD. I have mainly only gotten slices and a salad there. The salad was all the freshest veggies and the serving as larger than I had expected for a small size. The 'Za is so good. I recommend the White Tomato, or the Eggplant. Did I say it was good? There is outdoor seating, and there is good service. People are very nice there too. If you want to be waited on there is a nicer area in the back where you can have a little candle lit table. Its a small intimate place, but perfect if you want a great slice in a clean place. more
