I just went here on Saturday and had a really great experience! I left loving my hair, the color looks awesome and the products they used on me have made my hair so manageable..Oh, the whole area is so cute, shopping, lunch etc....love it....They even made an on the spot appointment for me to have my eyebrows shaped with a wonderful lady upstairs. Very accomodating. Pros: experienced staff, professional, highend products Cons: the parking seems very busy on weekends more

This place is really just okay. Good points: the service is prompt and professional, they don't try to sell you a lot of product, you don't get a lot of 'tude, and you'll go home with a reasonably nice haircut and/or color. But it's not THAT cheap (they charge you extra for a blowdry if you're just having your hair colored, which I think is absolutely ridiculous!) and the results aren't particularly spectacular -- really just okay. Pros: Friendly service, you probably won't get a *bad* haircut here Cons: Not a good value for the money more

Love my hair! 5/5/2006

I had my hair colored and cut here today and I love it! I just moved here and finding a new stylist has been more difficult than I ever imagined. So. like many others I read the reviews and went for it. I just want to say the overall experience was great, very professional and prices way LOWER than New York!! I'll definately be back! Thanks. I have been going to the Gillian Bissett salon for about a year and I have always been very happy with cut and love the color. Suzanne has really amazing color skill and a great blowout...as most brunettes know its hard to get a rich color without the yellows, oranges and heavy red overtones. Overall amazing experience 5/4/2006

I'm so happy that I found Gillian Bissett's Color Salon. The overall experience there was absolutely amazing. The location was more than perfect, the salon was intimate and warm and the stylist really seemed interested in my overall beauty. My hair looks and feels so healthy and natural. Not impressed... 5/1/2006

I went there a while back, based on Citysearch reviews. However, it's another situation where I think the reviews are padded. I was not impressed with the $200 highlight job I got. My roots were not perfect, the color was not amazing. It was all average at best. I've spent mouch less and gotten more. I am sure they are great for some people, but for me - an easily happt client - I walked out knowing I'd never go back. more

*wonderful* cut and all-around salon experience 3/21/2006

Inspired by the glowing reviews I went to Gillian Bissett for the first time yesterday and am now hooked. The cut was fantastic--one of, if not *the*, best I've had, in many years of upscale salon-going--and the overall experience was blissfully relaxing. I got a (free for first-timers) conditioning treatment with a glorious scalp massage, followed by a neck and shoulders massage which left me feeling fantastic. On top of this lovely indulgence, I went away impressed by and pleased with a great cut that has already convinced other friends to go to Bissett. I can't wait for my next visit: it's a luxury to know you'll be thrilled with the results *and* have an indulgent time at the salon. Pros: friendly and skilled, good parking, good value more

Brassy to Beautiful!! 3/18/2006

I ended up at this salon after believing the hairstylist from"" Queer eye for the straight Guy"" tell me I could do my hilites at home!! He's a LIAR!!! Anyway, I booked with Gillian who after making me feel very comfortable had a very thorough & HONEST consultation with me. Apparently I did such a job on myself this would take a couple of times before I would be back to normal! (who knew) Anyways, all I can say is my color looks and feels wonderful and I will never buy color from Target again..Trying to save a few bucks ended up costing me....Leave it to the pro's! I have been getting my haircut from Brittany for 2 year now and would never let anyone else cut or color my hair. The color and cut are always what I asked for and look great. What an Awesome Salon 2/9/2006

I had such an amazing experience at this salon. I was booked with a stylist named Michelle. Not only did she sit down and make me feel comfortable, but she gave me exactly what i have pictured in my mind that i have been trying to achieve at other salon's for years. Also, while i was having my hair shampooed by Maria, she took time out to give me an amazing massage and i almost fell asleep. Thank you everyone for making my time at the salon a great experience. 25 years searching and this is the salon! 2/8/2006

I have been to a number of upscale salons in Santa Barbara and LA over my lifetime. All said the only way to get my hair a light blonde was to use bleach. However, bleach makes my hair texture turn to straw, so I have been living with this brassy reddish color for years. NOT ANYMORE!!! BRITTANY without bleach did her magic and voila, I am a perfect beige blonde. This girl is a chemist extraordinaire! She was an educator with Schwartzkoff prior to coming to Gillian's. And the results don't stop there. My hair over the years has been getting very very dry. Gillian has a product line that made my hair feel llike silk, no easy task. The girls at this salon know their stuff. Why go to salons with less expertise in process and product? I am a total convert. Never have i left a salon in total shock! 1/29/2006

I currently liked my color and when i left the salon my hair color was horriable! NOT AT ALL WHAT I ASKED FOR!!!!! i was very detailed and described exactly what i wanted, and got a very dull dye job that was so bad i had to go to another stylist to correct it. The thing that made me the most upset, is that i was very clear on what i wanted, and i got something completly different. I found Gillian Bissett on city search and decided to give them a try. I went to Suzanne a few weeks ago to fix highlights I had done. She provided me with a great (free) consultation and did an amazing job. There prices are not cheap but comparable with salons in the area. Highly recommended! I've been with my old stylist for many years and after realizing I wasn't getting the new look I wanted I packed up my bags and headed over to Suzanne's chair, and all I can say is THANK YOU! i just got back from getting my hair cut there for the 1st time. i am totally the nervous type about cutting my hair and VERY picky but after reading 18 reviews where each woman praised this place i thought i would give it a shot (it amazed me that there was not one negative comment anywhere). Britney gave me THE BEST haircut! i told her exactly what i wanted and that's what i got. i'm going back in 2 weeks to get some highlights & lowlights and am not a bit doubtful about how it will turn out. it's true that everyone there is SO nice. i had the greatest experience and left feeling sexy and confident. i highly, highly recommend the salon and i highly, highly recommend brittney. for all the nervous ppl out there who are scared to try a new place - you're in safe hands!!!
