Gibney's is my go-to, corner bar. I can hit it up when I'm tired and wearing sweats, or when I want a cheap, strong martini before running into the city. Every time I go there I laugh at the bartenders, and they (somehow) always give me a nice buzz. Always a good time had by all at Gibney's. Charming Bartenders, Inexpensive Drinks 10/20/2004

Gibney's has been a favorite watering hole of mine for years. Everyone is friendly and the bartenders are always gracious. Occasionally, you'll walk in and think you're in a club on Long Island (by the looks of the clientele and the music), but give it a couple of days and it'll be back to the same ol' Gib's! I can only add that I adore Noel and Mike. It's really these fine bartenders that makes Gibneys what it is -- a fantastic spot to sit and enjoy a beverage, meet with friends or party the night away. You're missing out if you don't stop by Gibneys any day of the week for a great time (but it's more crowded on Fridays). Pros: Mike and Noel, friendly crowd, great drinks more

My Second Home in Astoria 6/22/2003

I used to think of Gibney's as a fallback bar - the place to go in case I couldn't think of/didn't want to go anywhere else. Now, I've accepted the fact that Gibney's is easily the best bar in Astoria, and I don't bother trying to think of anywhere else to go! I love the bartenders - Noel - you are the god of beer! Everyone should come here - if they don't, more beer for us! Pros: friendly, lots of seating, great atmosphere more

Greatest Bar in the World 1/24/2003

Words can't really do this place justice, but I'll try. This is quite simply the greatest bar in the world, and I'm an alcoholic! It has all of the essential elements: An extensive selection of spirits that will satisfy even the most discerning palate, a wonderful lively atmosphere, gorgeous decor, and, of course, great bartenders. Noel and Mike are the best duo of bartenders I've ever seen in my entire life. Every time I'm there I have an awesome time (every time I can remember, that is. ha, ha). The only thing Gibney's lacks is more girls who like chubby drunk guys that wear glasses. Great Place! 8/13/2002

If your looking for some swanky place that serves $10 drinks and has a red rope outside than Gibney's is not the place. However, if you want to just chill out, have a few beers with some friends, watch a game, listen to good music and meet some of the finest bartenders in NYC, then Gibney's is it! Escape from the Wolves of Woodside! 7/18/2002

Whether you're a dirty-Dub or a culchie from Cork, you're at home in this Astoria pub. It's a little too dark at times but has lots of crazy 80's music, sociable bartenders (they'll have a drink or two with you, but shhh) and overall great (and clean) atmosphere, unlike the pack-mentality of the Woodside bars. Don't feel like sitting at the bar? There are booths up front and tables with cushioned seats in the back. Now how are them apples? Gibney's the Great 5/30/2002

What can I say? This bar is awesome. A lively atmosphere, great decor, and the best duo of bartenders I've ever seen...Noel and Mike. And there's this chubby guy named Dave who hangs out there a lot.
