The service is REALLY going down hill!!!!! 11/29/2010

My family stays in Seattle every year for the Thanksgiving holiday. It has been a tradition for the past 5 years. For the last 2 years we have stayed at the Fairmont. The hotel is very nice, convenient to the holiday activities and has afternoon tea. We have been going to Afternoon Tea for the past 4 years. We have had great service every time we have gone whether it was for dinner or tea. This year we had a group of friends join us, because they thought the tradition was a wonderful idea. I highly recommended the Afternoon Tea to my group, so we booked a table for 7 (just the girls). I have NEVER felt more embarrassed! For the first 25 minutes we sat at the table with no acknowledgment from anyone. Then a server?s assistant came over to tell us that our server was too busy to get to us so she will be taking our tea order. Then after 45 minutes our server finally came to the table. She never introduced herself; she just delivered the tea sandwiches and tried to explain what each sandwich entailed. She did a VERY poor job explaining, which left me feeling even more embarrassed. She even went as far to say that the sandwich had ?FANCY? mayonnaise. My guest looked at me like they could not believe what they were hearing. Then we did not see our server again. We all wanted Champaign to start with and that was NEVER offered. Finally, I asked the assistant server to get us some more hot water for our tea and asked if our server was ever coming back. Finally, I spoke to the Manager of The Georgian. I really wanted him to know that his server was completely not up to standards. I explained our experience and asked if she was new. The manager said ?I am new, but she has been her for awhile?. Then he said ?well was she nice???? At that point I was done!!!! I am sad that The Georgian is lowering its level of service/standards. I will never go back after this. It is unfortunate! The Georgian is supposed to be an experience! There was no experience at all! Just water, tea, sandwiches and the bill! By The Way?. I found out the servers name as I was paying the bill? it was Jane. Well, Jane you really need to get a job you enjoy. As a server you are offering an experience?. Not just delivering food! more

Food Born Illness 12/4/2008

My boyfriend and I had the unfortunate experience of dining at The Georgian the night before Thanksgiving. Instead of spending Thanksgiving day with friends and family, the day was spent throwing up from 3 am to 5 pm. This not only ruined our Thanksgiving plans, but also the next 4 days as we tried to recover. It took 5 calls to various managers before I heard a response to my complaint. Needless to say, I will never dine at The Georgian again. Cons: Lack of response when reported a serious problem. more

Oh. My. God. Absolutely dazzling! 10/27/2008

We've dined at the Georgian before and liked it. This was our first trip since the menu revamp and the introduction of the seven-course tasting menu, which we chose. First, let me say, I love tasting menus and have enjoyed them at some of the best restaurants in the country -- Per Se, Gary Danko, and even the Herbfarm here in Seattle. This way my first experience of every course being absolutely PERFECT. Each bite was absolutely bursting with flavor and done to absolute perfection. With every course, my dining companion looked at each other with wonderment. There wasn't a weak dish in the bunch. And the portion size was perfect. We left filled complete, but not stuffed (unlike the Herbfarm, where I left still hungry). And there quite generous with the wine pairings -- we rarely finished a glass. And, it's cheaper than most tasting menus too! What more can I say? It was simply the best meal I've even had in my life. Pros: perfect food, glorious ambiance more

Overrated 12/15/2007

Little imagination for this class of dinning. Dishes are either overpowering or tasteless. The side dishes are the mostly the same for all meals. Best part of dinning is the platting. Seattle has much better choices. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food more

One of the best hidden place in Seattle 10/2/2007

I've been wanting to write a review about this restaurant as it has become one of my favorites. From the food to the service....everything is exceptional and not to mention the price. I love it!! One of the best in Seattle. more

Best dessert and oustanding service 10/1/2007

The girls and I went here for a bridal shower dinner. The food here was excellent!!!Everything was tasty from the appetizers to desserts. I'll definitely come back for their Black and White Chocolate Souffle, very delicious and generous in size. Two thumbs up for the presentation and oustanding service. Thoroughly the girls and I enjoyed our night at The Georgian. more

Way overrated 12/14/2006

I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I ordered the scallops and they looked like growth hormones were injected into them--i am not one to waste food but i just couldn't finish it. My friend ordered the fish and while it was soft, it tasted like burnt plastic. We ordered 2 souffles and one tasted like warmed up fruit loops cereal. The service was great as i would expect from a place like this but it isn't enough for me to go back. The ambience is very romantic and has a titanic feeling to it. Pros: Ambience and service Cons: food more

Best for high tea or dessert 10/25/2006

This place is fancy-shmancy, but more in the traditional style than the urban-trendy one. I don't think the dinner cuisine lives up to its ambiance (or is worth the high prices) - but afternoon tea and late night dessert are a good way to soak up the vibe without breaking the vault. more

'Classic, elegant and beautiful' This place will arouse your 5 senses. 7/1/2006

Truly an experience. You have to savor this dining experience yourself to understand. Love the food at the Rover's. However, for half the price, you are able to dine inside a gorgeous and elegant dining room, decorated in a warm yet comfortable settings (instead of some houses). Of course, the food is prepared by a notable award winning chef and delivered to your table with an oustanding service. Love Love Love this place a lot that I've dined at The Georgian for about twenty times these past six months alone and never once been disappointed. Pros: Valet, Service and Ambiance more

I looked shabby and was treated royally. 6/22/2006

I dined alone, as usual, was dressed in un-trendy casual, yet the hostess seated me promptly and well. The steak, cooked perfectly medium-rare, with au jus divine was accompanied by perfectly al dente asparagus and haricort verte. I was treated royally by Joaquin, the waiter, who found a French red wine for me that was not on the luncheon menu, and Sadie Rose the hostess who is gracious well beyond her years. I left the restaurant considerably happier than when I arrived. I am a Seattleite. I will be returning often. --Siena. Pros: service, food, ambience more

A Place for Elegance and Outstanding Service 6/5/2006

Recently I took a friend here for dinner before the theater. I am in a cast w/a wheelchair and when we arrived the valet for the hotel was incredibly accomodating, taking us up through the back way to the restaurant. I was greeted by name and so began an evening of incredible service, attentive but never intrusive. The food was equally outstanding and I believe reasonable. We each ordered the 4 course tasting menu w/wine. Each of the wines was excellent and paired perfectly with each dish. I can't afford this kind of dining all of the time, but when I can it is money well spent. A truly memorable experience. And... our parking validation lasted through the theater performance. Pros: Before theater dining, Great Parking, Wait Staff more

Royal Treatment 6/19/2005

On the Occasion of my parents 50th anniversary, they went beyond good service. With a basic descrpition by me, the pastry chef presented a near match to their weddding cake and cut crystal champagne flutes were presented to them to toast their 50 years togeather. As they had met there in the hotel 54 years earlier, the Hotel manager, head chef, maitre d' and others stopped by to congratulate them. I could not have asked for better. Pros: excellent service, quiet elegance, great food more

Very Ordinary 2/1/2004

This is a place for business people to do business. The wide open space and heavy lighting is far from romantic. Superb service and a great local wine list is all that this place has going for it. If it's a good hotel restaurant you want this is it. If your planning a special dinner for two go someplace else. Pros: service, wine list, location Cons: , brightly lit, spendy more

Sets the standard of excellence. 9/12/2003

Few Seattle restaurants have food as outstandingly good as The Georgian's dinners. Ingredients, recipes, and preparation skill are all first-rate. (And surprisingly, food portions are not small.) In addition, and perhaps most importantly, the service is absolutely without equal in Seattle. I eat out a lot, and I cannot think of another place in town where I've received service even close to this thorough, attentive, and courteous. Finally, the room is beautiful. The prices are of course high, but are actually a good value given how much you get. Caution: breakfast is nowhere near as good; come for dinner. Pros: Service!!!, Great food, Beautiful room Cons: Weak breakfast more

Fabulous Restaurant 7/11/2003

The georgian is diffently a very romantic place. If you are trying to plan to do this something special for your significant other, i would highly suggest this place. The obience of the hotel and restaurant is fabulous, and they have the best food that i have ever had. Ihave been on 5 cruises and the food on those is great, but the food here was even better. Pros: Valet parking more

Great! 5/8/2003

I love this place -- the food, ambiance and service are the best in the city. Great pre-theater menu, too, for a very reasonable price. Pros: Food, Service more

Incredible 4/10/2003

Moving to Seattle from LA, I was a little hesitant about the resturant scene, but I finally found the needle in the haystack. We came to the Georgian for an anniversary, and everything about the evening brought a smile to my face. The food was amazing, the service impeccable, and the atmostphere was perfect. I highly recommend the Georgian for a special occasion, or just a great meal out! Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Value more

COOL DINING ROOM 11/20/2002

Huge dining room with plenty of space and excellent service. Food was solid, well presented however comparatively the salmon main was a little off and 2 chops on the lamb dish seemed a litle light, when every one else is going with 3 or 4! The smoked salmon appetizer was fabulous! Wine list is good, however could use some additional mid-range Washington & California reds! Definately will return! more

Flawless 9/22/2002

Outstanding...we've been there twice this past year and always leave saying we should come back more often. The food is full of flavor and the service is outstanding! The decor is unique and elegant and perfect for special occasions. You won't go wrong with this one...they even validate the valet parking! P.S. The souffle is excellent. Pros: Service, Food, Elegance more

Outstanding 8/21/2002

The food was incredible, the service was excellent and the price was perfect. We had not been to The Georgian since 1999, when it was The Georgian Room. The food was great then, and it is great now. The right portion size, well seasoned, deliciously sauced, and a great wine list. The staff was some of the best waitstaff I have encountered. Never hovering, but always present when necessary. An additional surprise was the price. A number of the appetizers had two different prices, depending on portion size, and the entrees were very reasonable. Competitive with many other restaurants in the area. Definitely a must place to visit. more
