Tasty ale and yummy fried foods... 11/24/2006

Just had dinner and drinks here with a client the other day while discussing the condos we'd just reviewed and the neighborhoods they were in. While chatting we each had an ale - him a Tetley's and me a Black & Tan. My partner, Michael, was there too but I didn't check which ale he was sipping so I can't comment much on it. For snacks we all shared a plate of the various fried foods: mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, fries, chicken tenders, onion rings and more. Michael got the fish & chips (fries good, fish a little too greasy for me). While it wasn't packed when we first arrived it did eventually get that way. It's a loud venue if you're trying to talk business in the busier hours but otherwise it's okay. G&D was a good place to get my client oriented to Fremont and some of what it has to offer. more

Love footy? Stop by for a pint at the George. 8/8/2006

The George and Dragon, what looks like another Fremont hole in the wall kind of a place from the street is actually one of the top ten soccer bars in the country according to GQ magazine; for good reason, the George is an American footy fan's dream. Showing mainly English Premiership/FA Cup and Champions League games the George is mainly an English pub but they also show action from Spain and Italy on a regular basis. The regulars are exactly what you would expect from a soccer bar; on game day most everyone is wearing a jersey supporting their squad passionately. To an outsider it might seem a bit cliquish and so it should be: the Arsenal fans (John, one of the owners is an Arsenal supporter) who come in week in and week out won't really talk to you if you only come for the Cup Final. However, this is one of the only places where you can meet other fans and talk footy like others talk about the Mariners around the water cooler including all the transfer rumors and controversies. Since they replay most of the big games in the evening you can forget for a few hours that you are in rainy Seattle and be transported to your favorite European hideaway. They have a full bar and a great beer selection with 15+ taps. Pints are a little pricey at 4.50 but it beats the flight to Europe to watch the match or your own satellite hookup. The food is perfect pub fare: I would recommend the chicken strips and chips with homemade honey mustard dressing. The chips are the best in Seattle, think Dick's fries but five times thicker and are served with a bottle of HP sauce for the English flavor. Their schedule of games is on their website at georgeanddragonpub.com and is updated frequently so if you want to see the true Seattle soccer scene check it out. more

Soccer (football) Sanctuary 5/30/2006

The George and Dragon in Fremont is reminiscent of the traditional British pub. Soccer (yes real football!) plays on the multitude of TVs which are fed by a satellite feed that allows you to watch European club football, tournaments, and more. The ambiance of the pub is cozy traditional with an outdoor porch for summer time drinks and world cup mania. The website posts a schedule of the games available for viewing on a specific day. There is a Happy Hour menu that is complimented by the depth of the bar selection. Usual British pub fare is served with a smile by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great English Pub... 4/13/2006

Cool crowd, lots of singles, decent pool table. Not much to dislike about the George & Dragon. Bartenders are cute and pour a stiff drink. Rahul more

Come One! Come All! 3/21/2006

great english pub...very chill and relax - great place to watch football (american soccer) and have a pint. they have lots of beers on tap to choose from. watch out on the weekends because this place gets packed. Tuesday night is Trivia night -starts around 8pm and lasts until 10-ish pm. Trivia's cheap and groups have to be under 6 people. And another tip: bring someone from the UK for trivia...lots of questions pertaining to England! Cheers! more

They have a premiere league schedule on the door... 3/12/2006

which means that it is a 'true' English pub. Although I live in Fremont, I just visited the George and Dragon Pub for the first time. They've got one pool table (and a long wait to play), a rowdy, unpretentious crowd and lots of publike stuff hanging on the ways. Overall, a really solid bar - I can't wait to make it to see a soccer game. more

Great old place 3/10/2006

I'm glad that this little place is still around. One of the few traditional places that hasn't been over-inhabited yet. Proves that if a pub is good, it sticks around for a while! Wish I lived closer - their beer selection is terrific and it's a great place to just sit, have a beer and not have to feel like you're on display. more

PUB QUIZ! 9/9/2005

George and Dragon is a cute little English pub in Fremont with an awesome pub quiz. For those of you who have never taken part in a pub quiz, you are missing out. They are all a little different, but here you form a team and buy into the game. The overall winner at the end of the night takes most of the pot (I think the bar takes some, too). Spend the evening drinking and trying to answer random questions! more

Great pub, Great food 9/9/2005

The George & Dragon is a very Seattle-casual pub where tapered pants and North Face vests abound, BUT, it is so laid-back that no one really cares. The pithers are well-priced, the food is filling and rich and they have the best Trivia Night around. If I lived in Fremont, I would probably be a regular here. more

Do you have any Irish in you? Want Some... 8/19/2005

The Dragon is my favorite bar in Fremont, especially on an off night like wednesday or thursday. I love the atmosphere and the beer selection. They keep a good selection of British and Irish bitter, along with some good hoppy brews from the Northwest. Pitchers are relatively cheap and when there are good soccer matches on they will usually be on the TV. In the summer it is nice to sit outside on the porch and people watch. more

Unpretentious pub in Fremont 8/19/2005

The Dragon is the best place to get a beer in Fremont. It is a true English pub, one of the only in Seattle. Soccer is a big deal here. They've always got the games on, which is nice, and they've got the schedules posted for all sorts of leagues. They have lots of beer on draft – good beer too. The cheapest beer you can get is Labatt, and they always have Mac and Jacks, along with the a bunch of imports (guinness, stella, bass, etc.) The bartenders and staff are genuine and they don’t have a lot of turnover. The food is also a key component to this place. You can get stuff like fish and chips and shepherd's pie here. They have one pool table and limited, but nice, outdoor seating. There’s never a cover. The best part about the Dragon is its music however. They play the best (not live) music, in my opinion, of any bar in Seattle. Anyway, don’t bother checking this place out. I hate when it’s crowded. more

Great Place for a Pint and some Footy 8/9/2005

Want to catch the best Premier League or European Championship football (soccer)? The George is definately the place. They've got two nice sized TVs to watch the games. They often show the satellite-only games from Sky and Setanta that you will never get on local cable. The atmosphere during the games are great. The website has the daily schedule. The beer selection is good, lots of imports on tap and the foods not half bad either. The bangers and mash are great and the bacon bap and a Guiness first thing in the morning are great too. The bartenders are friendly as well. They've got a wifi connection if you're into that at the pub. more
