OK, so let's be honest. What does it take for a salon to really be fabulous? Great haircuts and professional staff? They have some of that here. And a nice building. So if you are new to the area and don't know where to go, this is probably a safe bit. But this place is not over the top, like I thought it would be. Sorry. Two times in a row, Gene Juarez has messed up with my appt. and tried to get me to go in with the person who happens to be avail while I am there. The manager was not sincere in his apology, and to make up, he gave me a card with his personal telephone number on it. Why would I want that? The prices are way too high compared to the stylist experience. It is a training ground for new stylists, who move on once they are good. My girlfriend went to Gene Juarez in Bellevue to get her hair colored by Bailey, when she came home I was impressed. I usually don't even notice these type of things but i noticed it right away and thought it was great, she loved it so much and was so excited about it. I saw Kirk Slaughter on a friend's recommendation. i found him to be very personable and i felt very comfortable during the styling. Kirk did a wonderful job on my hair. As i don't often get hair cuts, i don't usually know what to ask for. i gave him a general idea of what i wanted and he did the rest. my hair looks great and it was exactly what i wanted. i'll definetly go back and will tell my friends to get their next cut with Kirk. I have gone to Mai Ling a few times. She does an excellent job with my hair. She listens to what I want and takes the time to look over the pictures that I bring her. She is super friendly and always in a good mood. She asks me questions about length and shows me what would and wouldn't work with my hair. I have never been unhappy with a cut she has given me. Her cuts are $50.00. I just went in for a bang touch-up and Dorian (Sr. Designer) offered to assist me. He was so fun and helpful! He went way above and beyond and actually fixed a previous haircut that went wrong. He spent about 15 minutes fixing my hair (for free) and was super nice about it. He made me look like a completely different person. I was so happy when I left and I will definitely go back when I need an actual haircut. I left him a tip even though he didn’t expect one. okay so i've been going to gene juarez for a long time now and this day i went i got a different hair stylist. well i had very long hair and wanted to go short not to shorl shoulder lenght well she cut it way above my shoulders and just rushed the whole thing i looked like i had an unfinished hair cut . while i was 10 minutes into my cut a girl comes up to her to let her know she has booked her another customer and she is waiting as im watching her rush this cut even faster i couldn't even speak anymore. she hands me the mirror to look at the back and then quickly grabs it back as me not to see that she has just cut 14 inches of hair off. Shoku is her name and would recommend no one to expierence what i did. I looked like ms. swan from mad TV seriously.then they said they wouldn't give me my money back that they would have someone fix it while im thinking i don't want any of you to touch what hair i have left you guys . they offered me a gift card even as im telling them i would never come back again. everyone who saw my hair is not going there anymore. so much for thier name and supposedly great service . they . glad i found a lady to fix my hair and she did a fab job. for more than half the price. they are so overrated. I took the ferry over to seattle, then drove to Bellevue to have a spa trtmnt and waxing for the first time. I also had an appointment to have a mani&pedi, and for my hair, color and cut. The spa trtmnt never happened because they did not schedule it "properly," I lost some of my hair due to a "new" fresh out of school "color specialist" and overall, there was no real compensation for any of their mistakes. Fortunately, the stylist who cut my hair did a wonderful job, but I am not sure I want to go all the way back to Bellevue for just that. I have been going to Gene Juarez at the Bellevue Galleria for years. Junae has styled my hair short, long, and in between. She really listens when I have my own preferences and she has great suggestions when I am open to trying something new. As for colorist, no one is better than Ty, she always gets it right! Can't believe the poor reviews! I needed color correction very badly and booked an appointment . The colorist did such a great job with my hair. The whole process took around 3 hours and I never felt that there was a rush. I went and got my eyebrows waxed, which turned out great, and then got a haircut, also great! They didn't cut too much of my hair off and still managed to give me a cute style. I would suggest this place to anyone. Can't wait to book a massage and facial here! I've been to many different spas around. My sister in law insisted I go to Gene Juarez in Bellevue. I was very excitted to go after all the hype she gave it. They have a very nice facility there, however I was not impressed with their service. It wasn't that busy when I went and my whole experience felt rushed. They weren't that freindly and the gal that gave me my massage seemed in a hurry to get to the next appointment. She moved really fast for a basic massage. Also the place is pretty large and usually at other spas they will explain to you a little about the locker area and where to go and so on. No one told me anything. The whole experience just felt so unpersonable and weird. I won't bother to go back. Pros: facility Cons: Too snooty more

I have thinning & fine textured hair which most stylists I've seen elsewhere make a mess of; however, Valerie gives me a flawless, easy to care for cut. Lance does beautiful color and application of highlights & the cost is worth every penny. I've found all the people there to be lovely people, and highly recommended it. I visit Gene Juarez Spa's as much as possible. I have been to Downtown, Bellevue, Redmond and Alderwood for Spa services. I never feel more pampered than when I am there! Can't wait to get in again! From the foot soak to swiss showers and all services in between. I highly reccomend to all especially Moms who need a break! more

I don't know why all of these people are talking badly about Gene Juarez. I have been coming on a regular basis for years. Mckenna does wonders for my hair. Always highlighting it to look natural (yet completely different then my natural hair color!). Hanson at the downtown salon does a miraculous cut, I can't tell you how many compliments I have gotten. The spa treatments are luxuriuous. I bought my husband and mother a treatment each and both came back raving, and me? I get in there whenever I can. They ruined my hair, were rude to me, would not fix my hair properly and belittled my intelligence and concern for my hair and threatned to ban me from all gene juarez salons. I was a loyal customer for over 6 years and will never ever step foot in one of the locations again. more

If you schedule a visit at the spa make sure you ask to use their swiss steam/shower or sauna. They'll schedule you in, in between services or before. Also, ask for a lip/cheek refresher, it's complimentary! Most of the services also include a foot soak. Be ready to relax, the serenity in the foot soak waiting room says it all. It's a bit pricey compared to other spas but it's the extras that count. Pros: Validated Parking, Swiss Shower/Steam, Atmosphere Cons: Pricey more

The guy that colored my hair had 3 peopel at the same time. I think he forgot about me. The girl that cut my hair grabed $100 in shampoo and stuff, but it at the desk for me to pay for without asking me. The girl at the desk asked me to put them back if I did not want them. The staff was extremely snotty. My hair cut was uneven on one side- and they made me wait 2 weeks before they could "fit" me in to fix it. I paid well over $200 for a hair cut that looks horrible; and when I expressed my displeasure, the manager told me there was nothing she could do. I will NEVER go back. Cons: , Pricey more

I absolutly adore my new hair cut - which is something I have never said, as I tend to have some seriously funky hair. James is fabulous and well worth the cost (which beware is wuite high) My new haircut is wash and wear, or can be styled but either way it looks great... I LOVE IT! The sytlist was nice enough, but I spent $80 for a new style and it doesn't look AT ALL any different. To top it off, the girls working behind the counter were extremely snotty and unhelpful. They acted like they were doing me a favor by taking my money. I never felt relaxed or comfortable during the visit and won't be going back. Pros: Pretty enough. I've tried 5 highly recommended/pricey stylists and none of them did my hair the way I wanted except for Robin. She excellent. I went on a Monday which is the salon's slowest day - it was great - quiet and peaceful. It's the first time in 4 years I've been happy with my haircut. more
