Gatorland

Military UNFRIENDLY - http://www.gatorland.com/blogs/specials - is the location as of 02/03/2011 - they do NOT honor the military coupon posted to their own website. The coupon is out of date (june 2010 expiration). Even so, this is unacceptable. This website MUST be updated for those who make the 16 hour drive especially to see their facility. We even called to confirm before embarking on this vacation. When we arrived. They apparently have changed the pricing. We failed to get the name of the person we talked to, thus no one could help when we arrived onsite. When a coupon is posted to a business public website. First Take the coupon down when its not in use any more! Secondly even if the public makes a mistake, provisions should at least be made for a good review. The management and staff didn't even make an effort. Which is why we are leaving this review as "terrible". Your at your own risk when trying to plan and plot out this trip. At least we suggest have a backup in place when you attempt to visit them. You will need it. more

This is a good place for those who like reptiles. Me, personally I rather see fuzzy animals. But if you buy one ticket you get to go back for the rest of the year. So its a great place. Then, of course you see gators everywhere and you also have the option of paying for $5.00 hotdogs to them if you wish to waste your money more

This park is just WOW! I have never been to anything like this before, it is totally original. It is all about aligators, there are hundreds of em I think. You walk in and get in line and you are alread in the Gatorness. On the walls are hanging real whole aligator skins, and you can see them close up. Its so amazing. Then when you walk in into the park itself its just gators all around. So many of them lying everywhere. They do shows with the aligators like "gator jumping" where they make em "jump" for chickens. I saw an aligator with only 3 paws, one of his paws was cut off or something, but I could see that because I was so close. But the part I remember most about Gatorland is the food court. THEY SERVE ALIGATOR!! I have never eaten aligator befoe this, interesting experience. It kind of tastes like chicken. I cant say that I liked it, or disliked it. They sell nuggets (like chicken nuggets only they are gator nuggets) and ribs. But get some fries and a drink to wash it down. I would sy this is a definite destination for a Florida vacation. more

Gatorland has a special place in my heart. It was one of a handful of 'tourist attractions' that were already here in central FL when my parents moved here in the mid 1960's. They knew Owen Godwin, the original founder of Gatorland (who has long passed away). We went to Gatorland frequently when I was growing up, and to this day, I still very much enjoy visiting this great landmark attraction! Of course, gators abound here! But there are so many other animals to see as well. You can get a taste of Fla's natural wildlife and natural beauty here, which is very refreshing these days, with so much 'artificial entertainment' and construction covering every inch of Orlando, it seems. The Gator Jumparoo show is great fun! Trainers stand on platforms & hold chickens out over young gators, who make amazing 'leaps' into the air to retrieve a yummy snack! There are tons of educational opportunities here for the kids, and you can even hold a young gator or a large boa if you wish to! We went to Gatorland last time we were in Orlando to get our fill of alligators. Boy did we get our fill! Gatorland has thousands of gators in a protected environment. They offer various shows like the "Gator Jumping Contest" where they dangle chicken over the water and the gators jump out of the water to get them. They sell hotdogs so you can feed all the gators, but they don't ever seem to eat any of them (they do jump though when you throw them!) Gatorland is a great place to check out for a half day. more

Gatorland is one of those attractions that you visit when you are tired of all that magical Disney stuff. This theme park is actually more like a zoo of different reptiles, birds and wildlife. There are shows to watch, domesticated animals to pet and merchandise to purchase; but the real attraction lies in the ability to just walk around and view all the different gators in both cages and in their natural habitat. You can even get a serving of real gator meat to taste test yourself. It is very relaxing, just make sure you check the weather to avoid both extreme heat and rain (Hard to do in Florida). more

Truly fun in its acres of gators. With gator shows, a train ride, feeding gators and then you can eat them too! A great value and a fun time more

Not too many people seem to go to Gatorland.It isnt a huge tourist spot but some do tend to flock there.So many things to do.You can feed the gators and there is a little water park to take your kids when the weather is hot to cool off.You can also watch gator wrestling. more

So many great things to do here.There are so many gators to look at.I remember when I was a little girl you got in by giving a donation.Its still not that exepnsive to go to.Walk into the gators mouth and there you are.You can even feed the gators.Its tons of fun. more

Thousands of gators! You even get to feed them. You know you're in for a wild time when you walk through the entrance, which is a gapping wide gator mouth! It's nice they have a little kiddie water area for the kids to cool down and take a break. They have other animals in addition to the gators. Get you picture taken with a gator and even watchem wrestle the gators. What could be more fun than that? more

The last best place in Central Florida! Now Disney isn't going to tell you about this wonderful park but I know you won't want to miss visiting them! The park staff is polite, helpful and just plain Florida good people. Gatorland is home of a huge Albino Gator and the wonderful Gatorland Jumparoo exhibit! There are also snakes and baby gators available to have your picture taken with. My daughter's favorite place was the playground and petting zoo. Had it been summer we would have had fun playing in their waterpark area too! A fabulous deal for the family! more
