Gar Woods Grill and Pier Restaurant

Dined at Garwood after a local recommended the restaraunt to my wife and I. The restraunt is right on Lake Tahoe and the view is absolutely incredible. The service was excellent and we were seated promptly. I had the Lobster Bisque, which was average as far as flavor goes, and the Mahi Mahi Tacos, again average and lacking any true flavor other than the 'grilled' flavor. I won't comment on my wife's meal as she had soup and a grilled cheese sandwhich. The meal: two sodas, two soups, tacos and a grilled cheese put us back just over $50, rather expensive for what you get. I guess their is a built in supplemental charge for the lakefront rent and a surcharge for the spectacular view. Overall, only average. If this restaurant didn't have this location, I wouldn't recommend it at all... Pros: Spectacular Lake Tahoe views Cons: Food only average, expensive for average food more

Not that great. Food was overpriced for what you get. There are far better restaurants in the area. The whole place just seemed tired. Pros: Parking Cons: Everything else more

Thanksgiving Dinner 2002 was Turkey with all the fixings for my family's ski weekend. The food was great, the service was superior, and the view from the upper room wa incomparable. Dinner at sunset on the Lake!!!! more
