Excellent tamales, quezadillas & COOKIES! 10/10/2008

When I'm having a long day, stop at Gallegos Mexican Deli on my way home, and grab a few delicious dishes from their broad menu. Often times, I call my order in & it's ready when I get there to pick it up. My favorite dish byfar is their quesadillas. They are delicious, all the different types! They have them ready-to-heat or you can pick up a hot order as well. I often get enough for a week or so when I stop in so that I save myself a trip. I've also called them for office and party catering, because they're cost-efficient, delicious and excellent at their service to customers. If you're ever in the Culver City area, stop in for a delicious taquito or quesadilla, or tamale at Gallegos. You won't be dissapointed! Pros: Tasty quesadillas & tamales; excellent service; parking avail! Cons: Close at 7pm weekdays. closed on Sundays : - ( more

Best Mexican Food 1/22/2008

I am new to this area and I was passing by and it caught my eye, I stopped in on my way home from work. \r I did not notice this place before but I guess it is because they just extended their hours until 7pm. I ordered a California Burrito, WOW, huge and more than I can eat! It had great flavor. I also took some tamales and enchiladas home to try for lunch the next day! Out of this world! The light red salsa to die for! I have to go back now to try other items on their menu! This is a family owned business and I couldn't believe that they have been in business for over 60 years, but they were in Santa monica! Best Food! Pros: Take food to go cold (deli part) or eat in!! Very casual dining. Open longer hours now! Cons: I couldn't make up my mind what to try! more

Our specialties are tamales, enchiladas, fresh salsas and chile rellenos (which are all made from scratch.) We also have new delicious pastries. A family owned business that has been serving the westside for over 60 years. Jose Maria Gallegos who came from Mexico and then in 1946 started a Tortilleria "Gallegos Brothers", with his brother, Ezequiel. The first Gallegos Brothers was located on Olympic near 15th Street . Gallegos was then purchased by daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Tereso Gomez in 1984, and food started being served. We were at the 15th and Broadway location the longest, where we established a wide range of customers. In 2002, we relocated to Mar Vista .

Editorial
  • In Short
It's spacious and airy inside and on the patio, where a slew of tables are covered by a canopy and shade trees. Business bustles at rush hour, but service is efficient....
