I live one block away from this establishment, and when I moved in I was excited to see a ""dive-bar"" in the neighborhood. However, my first trip to Gabors, the smell of sour beer and puke was to much for me to handle. I drank a beer and left. I have to point out here that the bartender was pleasant, not friendly, but pleasant and honest about the situation. She said the smell is always there, though usually not as pungent. I returned a few times and was amazed at how detached an unfriendly the staff can be. My fourth and final venture into this den of muck, the sloth, yes sloth is the only way to describe this creature, informed me that if I couldn't tip her more than .50cents a beer (on a $2 beer) I could get the f**k out and never come back. She spent more time outside getting high than she did behind the bar. I had been in a few nights before, drinking scotch and the bartender was pleasant and servicable. I had a $30 tab and I tipped her $10. As a former bar owner, and long time bar manager I know and understand the value of good customer service. This bar has the perfect location and very resonable prices. Until they do something about the smell, and the horrible attitudes of the staff, I will just continue to walk by I think, ""what a waste of space"".
