Think twice or maybe even three times before doing business with this company! They seem to only care about the almighty dollar and will not stand behind the product. The Salesman at G.Fried are just as bad as Car Dealer Salesmen. The Owner (Wendy) is never available when you call she has apparently trained her staff to make up any excuses under the sun.\r I am waiting to hear that she is stuck in her Attic and has not come down yet.\r I have been waiting for a week for the Salemen that I dealt with to call me back. Please not say you haven't been warned.. more

I had a number of issues with the 6/11/2012

I had a number of issues with the billing and the delivery of my carpets. The salesman tried his best, but there were a few communication errors. However, the worse was: on the day of the expected delivery, when the carpet did not arrive, I called the store. The manage insisted that he spoke with my husband who canceled the delivery. I was sure that this was not possible as my husband was not home. Rather than think that perhaps he called the wrong party, Blaise, the manager said, ""your husband is a damn liar and I will see you in court."" I hung up, shocked that he spoke with me this way. However, I called back and asked him the number that he called and informed him that phones had caller id and that none of our phones had his number that day. The carpet was then delivered. This was really shocking and no apology was offered. This was after they overcharged my credit card and forgot about another delivery date. more

very professional and helpful 8/22/2011

My wife and I moved from a furnished apt in NYC to an empty house on Long Island. Thanks to the courteous and knowledgeable staff at G Fried we turned our empty house into a home. They have a tremendous selection of area rugs, wall to wall carpet and hardgoods. As if that wasn't enough they have a boutique upstairs with small furniture, artwork and knick knacks. The staff made this transition a pleasant one for us and the installation was professional as well. Highy recommended. more

Would not go anywhere else! 2/23/2011

G. Fried in Westbury is simply a shoppers dream. My wife and I have demanding work schedules and to say that our fashion taste is polar opposite would be an understatement. The result has been three years of attempting to furnish/renovate our house. This past weekend we tried our luck at G. Fried carpet and, needless to say, our house will be fully furnished and renovated within the next two weeks. From area rugs, to cocktail tables, to mirrors, to flooring and even window treatments, their selection was unparalled to anything we had seen to date. Not to mention they were able to reuphoslter our favorite couch. Their sales people were extremely knowledgeable, patient, and refused to compromise until both my wife and I were in complete agreement and fully satisfied with all of our selections. Walking into G. Fried this weekend was blessing and my wife and I strongly recommend that you do the same. more

After months of shopping around to local carpet stores and failed attempts at Internet Shopping, I finally decided to make the hour car ride to G. Fried in Westbury. more

The best carpet store on long island 2/21/2011

I am so glad to have found G. Fried Carpet!! They went out of there way to make me feel comfortable. help me find just the right carpet and then install it on time! The people in the store couldnt have been nicer. They made me feel welcome and took their time with me. I never felt rushed and after asking me a few questions were able to guide me to the perfect carpet. the installers were pleasant and professional. I have already recommened them to my friends and will continie to do so. more

I've been getting my carpets from G. Fried for many years. I used to go to another well-known place but I wasn't satisfied with their work and especially their prices. A friend recommended G. Fried to me and WOW, what a difference. All you have to do is walk in and you'll immediately notice the differences. The knowledge and professionalism of the sales staff was outstanding. Walk into their humongous warehouse and you'll understand why they have such great prices. Since I renovated my whole house many of my friends and neighbors were so impressed with the worksmanship and quality of the carpet that they too have become or will become G. Fried customers. more

Look somewhere else 11/9/2008

We just had carpet installed in our basement & were left with a hole in the wall. Also all the baseboard molding in the room are marked up. Apparently this is acceptable as there is a disclaimer in the contract...Lucky us. Pros: The carpet Cons: Workmanship more

This customer was to say the least very quick to give a one star rating considering the mistake was initally hers! G. Fried is an ultra professional outfit run by quality people. Their installer, Jim, is top notch. They have done several fine jobs for family members and each and every time it has been perfect. It is up to the customer, should they decide to do measures themselves, to produce correct measurements. ANY installer will tell you they wish the customer would stay out of it and let them do their job. At the very least she should have given a 3 star rating admitting that her measure was one star! I am in the process of getting a 2 rooms of carpet and a kitchen in ceramic and I wouldn't dream of letting anyone but G. Fried do the work. As always I will pick out and research the products and let their pros do the work. Customers like this who gave this rating can severely damage a business's reputation with shoot from the hip remarks like this one. Pros: Great big show room, great product at excellent prices. more

Salesman not knowledgeable re: Custom Work 1/4/2008

We purchased 2 area rugs from this store. One rug is for the living room and fits fine and looks great. The other rug is for the dining room. I forgot to measure the transitional space from the kitchen into the dining room. This meant that at one end the corners of the rug did not lie flat. I asked the installer what my options were and if the rug could be custom cut at the corners. He said yes, they do this all the time and the work could be done in the house. He said for me to call my salesman right away and set up the custom job. I did this and explained that it was my mistake and that the rug needed perpendicular cuts at one end on both corners. I also used the language that one end needed the corners notched so it would fit and lie flat. The salesman gave me a price that I thought was too high, but I agreed since this was my mistake. He immediately put a 50% deposit for the custom work on my credit card. I spoke to the salesman a number of times, always using the same language to describe the work that was needed. Throughout this process I relied on his (and others at G. Fried) expertise regarding anything related to carpets. This is not my field. He kept assuring me that this work could be done and that after talking with the labor manager, a better quality job could be done at their facility. I told him that this was fine but the corners would have to be measured in the house before taking the rug and padding. The installers arrived to pick up the rug and did not measure. They told my husband, who was home at the time, they were only instructed to pick up the rug and padding. My husband called the salesman, who told him that we had agreed that the rug was to be brought back to them and cut down. Not what we had agreed to at all. I spoke to the salesman who admitted that he misunderstood what I asked for. The salesman then said that he was sorry that he had gotten involved in this at all. The matching binding was never ordered either. It was eventually done. more
