Comfortable, Authentic Japanese Cuisine 9/24/2005

Fuji-ya is a wonderful Japanese Restaurant in Minneapolis. They have private rooms which can easily be reserved. The private rooms are a great way to enjoy Fuji-ya because you sit at very low, authentic Japanese tables. Add the sliding screens and you feel as if you have been transported to Japan. Fuji-ya serves a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, but they are known for their excellent sushi. I'm not the biggest fan of sushi, but it was still really good. The shrimp tempura and saki are also very good. The service at Fuji-ya was very good. They were there when you needed something, but did not hassle you at the same time. more

Fun Sushi Bar 8/3/2005

Fuji-Ya is one of the best sushi restaurants i have found in the cities. They have a good menu with great specials. They are family and kid friendly, with a large dining room in back with separate rooms available. If you sit in the bar area, be prepared for a loud time. It is fun though. Prices are average for this type of restaurant. more

sushi in the mid-west 6/26/2005

as an east coaster, it's hard to find good sushi out here... that being said, fuyi-ya does a GREAT job and has delicious specials (like their fatty tuna). as is all sushi, it's a bit pricey, but more reasonable than origami. fun decor (the backroom has traditional japanese sitting areas), but crowded and long lines. thankfully, they take reservations; otherwise, prepare to wait in the bar. pretty young and hip, as it's located in the uptown area... so be prepared for a loud scene in the outside room. paid parking lot right adjacent -- i've never had a hard time finding parking out there. more
