Good food, over eager service 1/18/2010

We went there for our first time last week. It was about 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, and there were maybe two other ppl sitting at tables. The food was hot and fresh. General Tso Chicken was still crisp and not soggy from sitting in the sauce. Wonton soup was outstanding. The service was way attentive. I don't know if this was good or bad, but it made me a little uncomfortable. Our busboy came over at the begining of the meal and intoduced himself and wanted to know where we were from. At one point, I told my daughter I was not going to pick up my head from my plate, because everytime I looked up, the waiter, host or busboy would come rushing over. I know this is a sign of 'upscale' service...but it was a bit much. Pros: food Cons: parking more

this food qualifies as horrible 10/3/2007

the service was fine and the ambiance but the food was the most boring, tasteless i have ever experienced in chinese food. there was no wait, actually there were only 3 or 4 occupied tables in this large restaurant. don't go there! more

Yummy! 1/29/2006

Fu's has the best steamed pork dumplings in all of Houston! This is my favorite thing on the menu! I absolutley love it!!! Pros: great value, friendly staff more

Tried and true 8/13/2003

We use the Richmond location for take-out. The ladies who take our order are always nice. They even said they missed me when I had not ordered in 4-5 weeks this summer. Best for take-out or dine-in before 7:00 in the evenings, or the freshness wears off. Great chicken w/ veggie soup, moo shoo chicken. Decor doesn't do much for me, but they do a lot of lunch business. Good, basic Chinese reaturant with weveral locations in Houston. Pros: delivery or take-out, attentive service, solid, basic food more

Great place 7/1/2003

I have to admit the food here is very good if you are looking for non-traditional chinese food. I enjoy that the food si not soaked in MSG or greesy at all. The wait staff is usually very nice. Sometimes it is hit or miss with the waiters. The lunch menu is very affordable and the eggrolls that come with the lunch are the best. Pros: Egg rolls, lunch specials, Foos is great Cons: waiters more

Mmmm! 1/29/2003

The food here is excellent! The chicken is all white meat, the vegitables are fresh and crisp and the selection is great. And, they offer lunch specials on the weekends! What a bargain. I wish they would open a Fu's Garden in the Heights! Pros: quick service, fresh ingredients more

Fu's = Best in H-town? I don't think so 1/10/2003

This is the worst chinese food I have ever had in my life. Everything is horribly bland and can only be labeled ""chinese food"" in the academic sense. Save your money and head to Kam's on Montrose... Even Hunan Dragon on the corner of West Alabama and Shepherd is better than Fu's Garden. more

best chinese food 12/20/2002

Excellent food, especially their General Tso's Chicken and combo fried rice, and warn service. Would recommend to any one who likes Full service chinese rest. more

Hot, Brown & Plenty Of It 12/19/2002

Fu's Garden is to Chinese food what Taco Cabanna is to Mexican food: Tex-Chin. The dishes range from edible to good - but I would hardly call this Chinese food. To give credit where credit is due, this is definitely a step up from Chinese buffet, but I think that most of the people who gave this chain restaurant high ratings have never had authentic, freshly prepared Chinese food. This is really too bad, because if Houstonians demanded it, we would have more authentic restaurant choices. Unfortunately, as long as the market continues to demand it, we will continue to get ""La Choy"" style food. Pros: lunch <$10, (usually)fast service Cons: limited parking, the Dennys of Chinese more

My favorite place in Houston 12/1/2002

I left Houston 10 years ago and just got back for a visit this last Spring. For our first lunch back in town we headed straight to Fu's. It's still as good as I remember. Great Service, large lunch portions for the money. The orange chicken is the best! Pros: Great food, Inexpensive Cons: poor parking more

its really good!!! 11/8/2002

zThey have the best mongolian beef!!!* it rocks sooo much! i think there order out does and excellent job and i think there restaurant it very nicely set up! Pros: inexpensive more

you don't know what you're missing 10/28/2002

it's not listed in the citysearch guide, but fu's garden actually has four locations around houston!! Each has it's own unique decorations, and is suitable for different types of gatherings. Then only one featured in the citysearch guide was the original fu's garden, but they have since expanded to include 3 other locations, including one on Richmond, close to 59. In addition to a great lunch menu and reliable polite service, fu's garden also features very impressive evening dishes. It may be one of the only restaurants in houston that features true authentic chinese dishes for a traditional party. All evening menus for a party may be discussed and planned out with a manager, but it can be pricey. My parents and I are frequent visitors of fu's garden since it is their favorite place to host a party for friends. It is one restaurant I highly recommend. Pros: good parking, inexpensive, polite more

Great Food, Quick Service! 9/22/2002

Great lunch specials and very attentive service! It's unamericanized and very good Chinese Food. And they will not cook food with MSG if you request it. They do have great lunch specials, wonderful service and it's quick. However, I would advise that parking is limited. During the busy lunch hour, you are better to go there between 11am-12pm or after 1pm. Cons: parking is limited more

Cynderilla 9/3/2002

I reason I like Fu Garden is because all of the dish are made with white meat chicken. The General Tso's chicken is great and don't forget the Lo Mein. And they deliver!! more

Friend of Fu 8/12/2002

Fu's is my friend. No matter if it is eat in or delivery, I've found that Fu's makes the grade everytime. The lunch specials and family dinners are great value for money. Pros: Good value for $, Great for groups more

Garden of Good not Evil 8/6/2002

I frequently eat at Fu's Garden. I have always had great service and wonderful food EVERY time I've been there. I recommend it to everyone. Also, huge crowds are not a problem unlike some of the other top resturants. more

Excellent! 8/4/2002

We had a great time dinning this excellent food! Very well priced! Pros: Average price, Delicious more

Never Eat Lousy Chinese Again! 7/30/2002

I have frequented this restaurant on many different occasions, and have never been disappointed. The wait staff is attentive and here is a perfect example of how customer oriented they are. One evening, I was not certain what to order. The waiter made a suggestion, I asked where was it on the menu, and he said it wasn't! So they will cater to your tastes! There is never a wait, and the food is always served hot, with unlimited rice. A can't lose restaurant for sure! Pros: reasonably priced, menu flexibility, no MSG Cons: limited parking more
