had to pay them to return the faulty battery 1/20/2009

Be very careful while buying anything at this store. I had to pay them $25 transaction fee in order to return a faulty laptop batter which could hold charge for only 5 minutes. On top of that they only gave me the rest of the money as store credit (though I don't feel like every going back to a Fry's store). They even suggested me that I should have brought my laptop to the store so that I could test the battery before buying it. Not a bad business model where you can make $25 for each bad product you sell. Must be better than the margin on a good product :( more

Good price 9/25/2005

Fry's has all kinds of computer and electronics. Like other people said, there won't be a lot salesman tell you what it is and how to use it. But I still enjoy buying things there because I like self-service and I don't like people bothering in me when I shopping. They also offer great price. When I want to buy electronics, this is definitely the place I want to go. more

They have it all at good prices, but you're on your own 8/19/2005

Fry's is a popular destination for "geeks" because they have all kinds of computer and electronics gear at great prices, paired with junk food. While I appreciate how Fry's was able to build it's business, the low prices, and how efficient their checkout process it, I don't enjoy shopping there. Everything is pretty much self service and the aisles can get a little disorganized. If I need some random cable or a cheap hard drive, I'll go to Fry's, but anything that's a more considered purchase I'll think twice. more

A veritable bonanza 7/16/2005

It began in Southern California as the local family-owned electronics store, and it spread to locations in Northern California, and now even has a few locations nationally, but it’s still the same old local neighborhood warehouse electronics parts place. This is geek heaven! Don’t go here if you need someone to hold you hand and tell you what everything is. (Bring your own geek.) Fry’s isn’t known for it’s customer service, it is known for having anything under the sun that is electronics-related and for having pretty unbeatable prices, especially when there are sales. If you like to tinker, this is your place. more
