Best Feathers in Austin by Anne! 5/6/2011

I was tired of my boring hair but couldn't really color or cut it so I decided to get feathers for the first time. I got a feather chain and it looks amazing! it's been almost two weeks and the feathers are still in and looking fabulous. If you get feathers, have Anne do them! She is incredibly sweet and creative. I had no idea what colors to pick because there are so many. Anne artfully chose the perfect feathers together and they stand out in my hair so well! Everyone always ask me where I get them done because Anne did such a great job! I highly recommend anyone getting feathers to get them from Anne. more

No Bad Hair Day Here! 4/30/2011

Fabulous stylist...After searching and searching for a stylist for curly hair finally my search is over! I've been with Anne for more than 3 years and never walk away disappointed. She is a true artist when it comes to color and has just added feathers to her line of products and flare. Anne is awesome. more

Best Stylist!!! 10/17/2010

After getting an accidental mullet at another spa i will only go to highly recommended stylists. Havalah is great, she came highly recommended to me and now she has cut my hair for the last 2 years and i have never left her chair unhappy. she is very realistic and if i request something that just wont work for my thin hair, she wont hesitate to warn me and suggest an alternate hair-do. i send my clients to her all the time, and have only heard good things back. they especially like that she has a somewhat private room to work in, its not the typical hair cut place.. Fringe has a very ""Austin"" vibe. If you need a new stylist Havalah is great! She is a true artist!Thank you Havalah for making me look good! more

Great stylist!! 8/11/2010

I found Fringe on a Google search while looking for a highly recommended salon to get a Brazilian Blow out.\r I'm so glad I decided on this salon! I wanted to get this great process that I have heard so much about & I wanted to get someone that was experianced in it so that I would get the results I was hoping for. Boy did I !! My hair is so smooth, shinny,& FRIZZ FREE!! HELLO it's Austin! Frizz capital of the world. Anyway, Ladies if you have been contimplating getting this process don't wait a second longer it is worth the cost!! Make sure you ask for John he did a fantastic job on my hair! Trust me you won't be sorry : )\r \r Cindy S more

Great Hairstylist 9/12/2009

I've been getting my haircut be Anne for over ten years and I've never entertained the notion of going somewhere else. Her attention to detail is apparent in her work and she truly loves what she does. I highly recommend Anne Shackelford as a hairstylist. more

SUPER! 12/14/2008

Ann Shackeford's new spot at Fringe is a super fun environment! Its very spacious with lots of character and very individualized personalities SHINE. I am always always complimented by my great color and do's she does, and has been doing for I think 7 years now. Even when I lived in Dallas and NYC I still came to Ann for my hair styling needs. She always does a great job and gets it right every time! more

Detail oriented Hair Stylist in Austin! 12/10/2008

I was first recommended to see Anne back NINE years ago. She fixed my awful coloring and created a beautiful color for me and will not steer me in a wrong direction. I'll ask her for some colors or styles that interest me, and she will listen and coach me on what would be best for my face shape and skin tone. Each year we change up the style ,and I'm always happy. With this LONG and THICK hair I don't trust anyone else! She can turn my lion's mane into a smooth and silky designer look. I always marvel at her work. I've faithfully followed her for all these years, and now she's even closer to me....check her out at Fringe Salon. Thanks again for a job well done Anne! Pros: Anne has a great big room so I don't feel like someone's eve's dropping on my funny stories! Cons: Nada, zip, zero, zilch more

Fabu dooo 7/6/2008

I've been Sonia Castillo's client for 8 years... She is the best at what she does. I never worry that I will leave her chair anything but satisfied! She has worked at many salons and Fringe is definatly the best spot yet. There is a chill and relaxed, very Austin vibe there that I have not expierenced in a long time... The prices are compairable to any other quality service salon in the Austin area, and the parking 9 out of 10 times is easy as pie. Pros: Mad Skills more

Great people, great hair, great salon 4/19/2007

I have been going to Fringe for over four years now and it feels like home. Everyone there is so friendly and the atmosphere is very Austin--not snobby, just casual and relaxed. So, no, they don't have the posh-y feel of some of downtown salons and they do not offer ""spa"" services like facials or massage. They have a very informal vibe and they do only hair (and some good hair at that!) And I think I can say that for all the stylists--I have been to three different ones (Partricia, Ray and Heather--I had the opportunity to try different stylists when my regular, Patricia, was booked or out for the day) and each had their own style, but gave me exactly what I wanted and what looked great. Heather is an expert with color, Ray turns a blow-out into an art form and Particia works magic with a pair of shears. \r \r About the prices: the stylists lease their space so the prices are not standarized. If you want to know how much a service will cost just ask their super-friendly receptionist Melissa. Pros: Wonderful skill, great atmosphere, easy to find Cons: Downtown traffic more

A hidden gem! 2/11/2007

Fun, friendly atmosphere and staff. This place is perfect for those that like their haircut/color to come with some friendly conversation and even a glass of wine! Pros: Atmosphere, skill of staff Cons: parking can be a hassle more

No where near worth the cost 12/26/2006

Don't waste your money - go to supercuts. Unless of course you want to look like a freak with a bad haircut and leave with an empty pocket. Pros: Ambiance not bad - but not the cleanest salon around for sure Cons: way too expensive but more importantly hairstylists that don't care about their customers wants/needs more

FANTASTIC 10/22/2004

I have been using Fringe for over 6 years now and have NO complaints. I do not feel that they are too pricey. They are all independent so the pricing is not standardized. John Cantu is the best! I have never left disappointed! Great music, great art on the walls, always a place to park, and hardly EVER a wait. It's like going to a friend's house. I can't say enough good things about Fringe. more

Good Cut, but Pricey 11/13/2002

The salon is nothing fancy, but the people are very nice...unfortunately it costs a ton. $60 without tip for a hair cut and over $200 for a cut and highlights. more
