I have been going to Fringe for over four years now and it feels like home. Everyone there is so friendly and the atmosphere is very Austin--not snobby, just casual and relaxed. So, no, they don't have the posh-y feel of some of downtown salons and they do not offer ""spa"" services like facials or massage. They have a very informal vibe and they do only hair (and some good hair at that!) And I think I can say that for all the stylists--I have been to three different ones (Partricia, Ray and Heather--I had the opportunity to try different stylists when my regular, Patricia, was booked or out for the day) and each had their own style, but gave me exactly what I wanted and what looked great. Heather is an expert with color, Ray turns a blow-out into an art form and Particia works magic with a pair of shears. \r
About the prices: the stylists lease their space so the prices are not standarized. If you want to know how much a service will cost just ask their super-friendly receptionist Melissa.
Pros: Wonderful skill, great atmosphere, easy to find
Cons: Downtown traffic
