will never go back 11/12/2009

One day I was shopping, and a women who was working there was yelling at a couple children playing at a table. the way she handled the situation was wrong. I was amazed the way she spoke to the kids and finally the mom steped in and she started yelling at the mother. I don't care what was going on it was down right rude and unprofessioal. I am an RN and I have come accross many patients that I would like to have lashed out on, but you just can't do that. If you cannot handle working in a toy store get a different job......There is a calm way of handling a situation without loosing your mind and going off on children just playing on a table at a TOY STORE....needless to say I put back the toys I WAS going to buy and walked out. never to return again........And I have told my story many times to other moms in the community, and alot have agreed with me. They need to hire people with patients and compassion... Cons: very rude more

A Fabulous Local Experience 4/7/2009

Foster's Toys has ALWAYS been a positive experience for our family. From the unique selections they offer to the EXTREMELY helpful & knowledgable staff, they have made every visit fantastic. They almost always have exactly what I'm looking for & will go the extra mile to attempt to get something for me if they don't currently have it in stock. As for the negative reviews I have read about the stores appearance at times & the ""rudeness"" of it's employees, this is not a big-box chain store. They do not have the staffing to turn a store around after a holiday or an event. They are a small, independant business. Things are moved around frequently to keep things fresh & I feel that a store with a staff under 10 employees does an exceptional job of accomplishing this in a timely manner. Maybe those of you who had an unpleasant experience should give them a 2nd chance. They are even nice enought to offer a 15% off coupon for the rest of the year for their anniversary. You can get this by either going in the store & giving them your name & email or just going to their website at fosterstoysandpartycenter com (i think). I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Pros: Unique Product Selection, Fanatastic Staff more

Great place to shop 3/18/2009

Toys, Books, Game, Puzzles, Party Supplies, Costumes, Teachers Supplies and more in one store! Pros: Best toy selection in area Cons: Too many good things to choose from! more

I feel so festive now! NOT 12/26/2008

Okay, I don't even know where to begin. We used to go here all the time for costumes and party supplies because it's local. There's nothing really special about this store. It's all about location. Pros: Location Cons: RUDE RUDE RUDE more

We will be back and back and back! 12/19/2008

What a great store! Toys, costumes, books, party goods one stop shopping. We found different high quality toys that we've seen in specialty catalogs, only here they were there to pick up and bring home (prices were the same or less than other stores or catalogs). Staff greeted us as we arrived and offered to include us on their e-mail list for monthly coupons, that's friendly. We look forward to shopping there for parties and gifts. more

Great Escape from the Big Chain Stores 12/5/2008

I had a great time shopping at Fosters with my children. I think the staff was very helpful and new there inventory. My kids played with the toys ""set-up"" for all to enjoy while shopping and we did not have any issues. When parents are shopping they need to remember that the employees are there to help costumers NOT babysit there children. Pros: quality items, good selection, helpful staff more

SCAM! False Advertising, unapologetic staff 11/20/2008

The "" $20 OFF any one item"" coupon, largely printed in red on the back of the store's own Holiday Toy Catalog that was mailed to my home (and I assume many others), is what prompted me to head into Doylestown to the always over-priced Foster's Toy Store. I figured it would be worth the trip for $20 off--I figured wrong. It seems as though these inaccurately printed coupons were one big scam just to get people to their door. A flyer at eye-level on the door read that the ""correct""coupon was ""20% OFF any one item"" instead of $20 off. If you have already been to Foster's then you probably know that their toys are WAY overpriced to begin with and 20% off is NOT ANY kind of DEAL. Pros: None. Cons: False Advertising, Over-Priced,Terrible Staff, Disorganized Store more

Extremely Rude Employees, Avoid At All Costs 10/28/2008

Fosters ranks #1 as the worst customer service experience i've had in my entire life. I recently walked in with my husband and 2 young children and was treated with extreme discourtesy and blunt rudeness. We were eventually told to leave because my son was trying on ""too many costumes"" and we had yet to purchase anything. I would think a store of this nature would appreciate the business. Avoid Fosters toys and party center at all costs. Cons: Rude service, poor selection more

Avoid this store 10/16/2008

As well as being grossly overpriced, the staff is unhelpful and there is a no-return policy on their items! I had a terrible experience shopping there with my two small children -- the staff seemed disapproving and when I bought costumes only to see the same costume elsewhere the next day for 60% less (!!!) I found I couldn't return the costumes at Foster's. I was bounced around from salesperson to salesperson and finally the manager who told me that there was no way I could make any returns. Save yourself a lot of hassle and a TON of money and just don't give them your business. There are plenty of other stores around. more

friendly neighborhood toy shop 9/6/2008

We've always had such good experiences visiting Fosters in the past 3 years that I had to post. Everyone at Fosters has been very friendly and helpful. I have 2 young children who think they can play with all of the fun toys while I shop. They often leave toys on the floor (even though I try to follow them them and pick things up) and the management has never had a problem with it. They even have gone out of their way to make my kids feel welcome by giving them free little toys that are in the sale bin. SInce they have been so exceptional kind to us, I will continue to support them. Every town needs a mom-and-pop toy store! Pros: Very friendly staff more

one more clarification... 3/30/2008

you have to take into consideration the time of year you enter the store and the type of products they carry.... They turn the store around all of the time to be able to provide those GREAT costume and party products, and then the don't ever want to forget about those great toys they provide. So while sometimes they seem like things are all over, they are ALWAYS reorganizing to try and make the buyers experience better.... WHILE also keeping the inventory fresh and with the season... Tough job, that I think they do well. Just trust me.. If you want the great toys, go back... it is worth it. Pros: has it all - and it is ok during those ""turn around times"" - give it a chance Cons: they have to turn around the products, so it sometimes seems out of sorts - more

Beautiful inventory, cranky service 3/11/2008

Unfortunately , I have to agree with the poor review for service. I have taken my grandchildren there and felt uncomfortable about how closely they were watched. The store has many beautiful toys and of course they were thrilled but we were out of there within minutes. Everything they touched, with my supervision, they were told not to touch it. When there are toys, children will touch them and this should be expected and tolerated. Pros: great inventory Cons: not recommended for kids more

Best Store Around 1/13/2008

I have to disagee, everytime I have been into Foster's I have a pleasant experience. I am always greeted when entering, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and the managers always try within their means to get you what you need. That store has been running for well over 60 years and you can't stay in business that long if you don't have happy customers. So obviously they are doing something right. Just because you don't get what you want, doesn't give you the right to bad mouth a good, respectable, family-owned business. If you want bad service and attitudes then go to a chain store. But don't hurt the underdog that goes out of their way to help you out. Pros: Great Customer Service, Quality Merchandise, and Fun Atmosphere more

Unpleasant store 11/30/2007

If you do anything in Doylestown, Pa, make sure you do not visit Foster's Toy Shoppe. It is very disorganized, unclean, and there are random things thrown everywhere. If you have children you would not want them in this store. The management and the employees are very mean when they wait on you, they do not greet you when you enter the store, and make everything about it an unpleasant time. Pros: None whatsoever Cons: Disorganized, Service more
