I spent 2 1/2 weeks in the nursing home after brain surgery. I was slow to recover and there were problems with the brain surgery that were later corrected. So I didn't have a lot of snap, but there was a person in my body. The aides just moved me around like a piece of furniture. When I asked for help to get to the bathroom, several aides told me to just go in my diaper - I think it was easier for them to change me than to help me get to the toilet, but it was humiliating for me. Luckily. after a 2 1/2 weeks I fell and broke my hip which got me out of there and back to the hospital where it was discovered that my first brain surgery had not fixed my problem (normal pressure hydrocephalus). If I had not escaped with a broken hip, I think they would still be storing me in a room and giving me minimal care. I felt like NO ONE CARED.
Pros: The establishment is roomy and clean, has a nice appearance.
Cons: Nursing homes have trouble keeping good help, generally they underpay. This place is PRIME EXAMPLE of getting staff who do a MINIMUM amount of work or caring.
