I loved it! 3/16/2006

I saw A Christmas CArol at Fords Theatre in November, The seats were only 25$ a piece, so I thought it would be lousy.. but it was great! The production was great, the actors charming, and the props and special affects were wonderful! I was so impressed! I would see anything there. Plus, before and after you can go to the museum downstairs that is great!! more

An unusually entertaining tourist spot 3/15/2006

Ford's Theater is a must-see for all Washington-bound tourists. Although it definitely has a morbid edge to it, you can actually walk through the still-active theater to the booth where Lincoln was shot. After wandering around upstairs, be sure to check out the interpretative center in the basement. As a historian, I rate is as highly educational and just really, really interesting. It's a combo of artifacts and narrative explaining the whole assassination story. more

Ford's theater 2/26/2006

You feel as though you are reliving history itself when you visit Ford's Theater. I walked right up to the door behind the balcony box that was shot through to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. In the basement is a full museum devoted to the events that unfolded there, from the death mask of the President to the clothes he wore. This is a must see historical site on anyones trip to DC. The theater is also used for special events. It is free to the Public. One of the best historic sites to see. more

Classic Americana 8/15/2005

With the history that accompanies it and its old-time feel, this theater is a unique place to see classic theater, especially their yearly performances of A Christmas Carol. Recently, their production of Hot Mikado was excellent. The basement museum about the death of Lincoln is open during performances and provides an interesting way to pass intermission. Whether for the historical value alone or the theatrical performances, Ford's Theater is a great family, date, or group outing trip. more
