Best Food in Highland Park 5/25/2010

The is one of the best places in Highland Park. The hidden Jewel Have never been disapointed. The prices are good Tina really put a nice touch to it with better lighting, Art Work & New Paint. Service a little so but it is worth the wait. LOVE IT Pros: Great Food Cons: Slow service more

Order the Deluxe if you know what's good for you 4/28/2010

I think any ex-east coaster (and in my case coast hopper) who's worth their salt is dedicated to the pursuit of finding the perfect pizza place. Pros: Friendly staff, great prices, yummy pizza Cons: Cash only more

best pizza ever 5/10/2009

i've been coming here for years, and even if i haven't been in for months the waiters remember me!they are awesome. this isn't for the pretentious ""oh my god"" people who want it all organic and want to eat with their pinkies up. it's great food! best pizza ever! you can literary feed four people for like twenty bucks. love you guys. Pros: great service, great food more

GreaT pizza Joint! 9/13/2007

great food, great service, fresh food! the waitor tony has been there for over 25years! & he always gives everyeone GREAT SERVICE! great man overall! nice to see the food cooked fresh in front of your eyes! very good prices! Pros: prices, service, fresh food! Cons: light lighting! more

Tastes like New York! 10/16/2006

The pizza dough is light and the sauce is yummy! It is the closest I've found to eating pizza near St. Marks in the lower eastside of New York. If you request thin crust, they will make it for you. I could eat this stuff every day. Pros: Affordable, Great staff Cons: No delivery, Cash Only more

Disregard ""Worst hole in the wall"" 5/14/2006

Obviously they are some tiresome Yuppies who belong on the Westside of LA. Sure, the ambience is strictly working class but the FOOD is what counts here, folks. And so what if the place hasn't had a decorating upgrade since dark woods and bullfighter motifs were the thing. Remember you are here for the food and the New York-style pizza won't let you down. So after indulging in the scrumtous vittles here you can take a designer bistro tour somewhere else. -Preferably on the Westside! more

FINALLY REAL PIZZA 11/22/2005

Go for the dough! The owner apparently comes in every morning to mix the dough privately (the secret family recipe). The dough, the sauce, and the cheese... the rest is just icing on the pie! Can't beat the prices. But don't be fooled: this is a ""hole in the wall"" pizza joint - no frills, not gonna impress anyone. It has an abundance of character (the waiters are a treat in themselves), yummy food, and cheap cheap prices. Have a beer/glass of wine and savor the pizza dough. Not for the dainty, healthy, low carb, ""must have"" organic Angelenos. Pros: PIZZA DOUGH, character, prices more

real pizza, really good!! 9/7/2005

This is a real pizzaria with no attitude. Such good food! The old school ambiance harkens back to a day before mass delivery of pizza that tasted like the cardboard boxes it comes in. It's a pleasure to rediscover Highland Park and all it's perks. Pros: pizza, ambiance, cheese more

Worst hole in the wall 9/3/2005

After reading the previous reviews, we were excited to try some place new. The prices here are really cheap for a reason. The pizza was tasteless, had hardly any sauce, and the toppings were scarce. We had ordered salads, but when the pizza arrived, the waiter said ""you ordered salads, right?"" We said don't bother. We made the pizza low carb, as we just ate the toppings. The place had no ambience, was noisy and the phone kept ringing and ringing. Pros: Cheese Cons: Menu (small), Pizza, Neighborhood more

The Best Real Italian Eatery 5/8/2004

Definitely the place for pizza and good food. You won't be able to compare the freshest ingredients Folliero's has to offer. You can see the pizza man tossing the pizza in the air... grating the block of real cheese - coz I don't get acnes when I eat at Folliero's unlike other pizza parlors. Their tomato sauce on lasagna, and other pasta dishes are magnificent! I've been coming to this place for about 28 years with the same faces (owner, waiter, cooker, etc.) Great service, reasonable cost, good food - definitely the best pizza in town, in Los Angeles area (and request their garlic powder - the BOMB). Try this place, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Great service, Reasonable cost more

TRADITIONAL 1/11/2003

You're not gonna get any closer to real Italian eats than here. This place has been around forever and the neighborhood would lose out big if it were ever lost. It's a tiny hole in the wall pizzaria stuck between a nail salon and a hamburger joint, I think. It's totally mom and pop; the place hasn't chaged since I was a kid. Traditional pizza with tradioinal toppings. And the friendliest people work there to serve you! more

Some really good pizza 7/15/2002

This small hole in the wall has got to be the BEST thing that's ever happened to Pizza. It's your good ol' fashion pizza joint. Not fancy or gourmet. It doesn't add crazy toppings to appease the tastes of those who love CPK. It's good pizza with exceptional ingredients. The pepperoni is spicy and flavorful and their cheese is so fresh. You can see it in blocks being grated down. Eat in, or get it to go, this place is a sure to please any crowd. The restaurant does get crowded, but never stopped me from ordering out. :) Pros: Tasty Ingredients, Cheap Prices, CHEESE Cons: Shady Neighborhood, Limited Parking more
