LOVE THE SAUCER!! 3/30/2011

I absolutely love going to the Saucer. It's a great place to hang with friends. The dart and billiard room is my favorite during the week because it cozy. On the weekends, it's quite smokey in there though. The cigar room has a great vibe too. The main area is great for watching football games. The whole place seems to be fixated and engaging together. The beer selection is great. Love that the beer special of the day changes. It was Magic Hat #9 last night. It can be hard to find a seat when it fills up, so go early and go often. more

RUDE MANAGEMENT! 10/11/2010

On October 10th 2010 my group of friends and I went to the Flying Saucer like we do every second Sunday of the month. We got there around 2pm and started to drink and eat like normal. Somewhere around 3-3:30pm we were approached by a woman who identified herself as Brandy the General Manager. She then proceeded to yell at us for cuddling up on the couches, told us we weren't welcome, cussed at us and all but told us to leave. She proceeded to throw down a coaster that had the company website information on it so we could file a complaint and walked off. Several members of our group tried to get her to come back so they could talk to her and figure out what happened but she refused to talk to anyone. We asked our waitress what was going on and she said she had no idea and that she loved having us there. And I don't know why she wouldn't. We come in, stay for hours drinking and eating and between the 15-30 people who usually show up, spend a great deal of money. We all paid our checks and started to walk out and Brandy was standing by the door and as we walked by made a point to say "Oh and you're not welcome back." This experience was completely ridiculous and I can't understand why any of it happened. But needless to say, none of us will ever be returning to this establishment with management like this. more

To the "go to red door east" comment 7/7/2009

Too bad you guys were disrespectful and rude at the Fly, and Red Door East is awesome! But they also don't put up with rude people like yourselves..... Pros: sweet Cons: nothing more

Go To Red Door East Instead! 9/21/2008

I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this establishment for the first time on Saturday evening. I won't go into all of the details because there is a character limit and I will be writing out the details in my email to the corporate office. But, I will say that I have never encountered such unfriendly, horrible service in my life. My party and I were treated like flies at a picnic as if we were disgusting, unwelcomed insects. We endured two rude staff members and general chaos to find a seat but we drew the line when our waitress told a member of our party "don't f**k with me". I think I should also mention that we were not drunk and not disrespectful to the staff in any way. When we brought our issues to the manager's attention, she explained to us that they were "very busy" and the staff was probably just stressed. That's not going to cut it. So, if you want to be treated like a major inconvenience, this is your kind of bar. Pros: decor, beer selection Cons: STAFF, MANAGEMENT, SERVICE more

Great bar to chill at. 3/27/2008

I love the Saucer. Took some buddies of mine there for one of their birthdays. We just had a great time knocking back a few and watching the games on tv. The atmosphere is great, beer is good and its just a fun place to hang. more

Great Atmoshere and Diverse 2/19/2008

some people have complained about the servicehere. My service was pretty decent whenever I have gone. The flying saucer has the best of both worlds. It's a happening place, yet it's laidback. I like to go every once in a while with a group of people and throw back a few. They have got a huge projection TV if u want to watch the ball game. I would suggest eating before hand, but appetizers are decent. If you are willing to spend 10 or 15 bucks, plus tips. It's definately worth it. Pros: Fun place to socialize and have few beers. Cons: I would eat dinner before going, appetizers are decent but not worth the price. more

Waitresses are beautiful 2/4/2008

Awesome food, great service (Laura) you have to ask for her when you go! Incredible belgium beer selection. They are smoking, but I did see smoke eaters in every room which was impressive. We went on 80's night (Thursday) and what a blast! The Band Bueller rocked and the beer never stopped! definatley my new stomping ground! Pros: Great place to meet guys! Cons: parking is complicated more

Excellent Beer Selection, unfortunate staff. 12/11/2007

I've spent several hundred dollars in this establishment over the past 6 years. I love their beer wall. The flytes from around the world are awesome. Monday night prices for wall beers are excellent. But if you're reading this, you're seeing a one-star rating and wondering why. It all boils down to one word: Service. It seems that every time I go to the Saucer, the service gets worse. I visit once every 3-4 months, so the decline has been very noticeable. Maybe they have new management. Maybe new owners. Maybe they're just getting lazy. I am not sure what the reasons might be, but service is slow and more often than not, rude. At the White Trash Cafe, rude service is part of the schtick. Saucer has its own vibe, and it used to be a pretty cool one. Now it feels more annoying than anything else. If I go these days, it is in spite of the service, because I want to try a particular beer, not because I enjoy my time there. I've also noticed that since the smoking ban went into effect in Nashville earlier this year, there are more and more people there just because they allow smoking. So everyone seems to be smoking. In years past, it was just a few guys smoking cigars in the corner. Now the whole place smells like an ash tray. Not exactly the mouth flavor you want when you're trying to enjoy a 15 dollar bottle of a rare imported triple-stout. Even at lunch, the establishment is 21 and up only, so it is all smoking, all the time. Lots of places around town have implemented "21 and up after 5 pm" sorts of rules to comply with the smoking ban during eating hours. You'd think that a place with 70+ beers on tap would value customers who are looking for something more than a Coors Light. People with dead taste buds from smoking all the time don't usually want to spend more than the bare minimum on beer, because they can't taste it anyway. My reluctant advice: The Flying Saucer is to be missed at all costs. I'll have to find somewhere else. Pros: Beer Selection, Bratwurst, Monday Night prices Cons: Bad Staff, No Free Parking, Stinky/Dingy atmosphere, Excessive Cigarette Smoke more

great beer, service lacking 10/18/2007

Great beer selection, especially on Pint night. Chill hangout with couches and nice decor. Pretty loud and crowded though. Service is pretty slow. I hate the server's outfits. If your into extremley short skirts and knee socks though, you'll love it. Pros: beer, cider, food Cons: service more

take it from me, my name is on the wall! 5/14/2007

Amazing service, friendly atmosphere, and a relaxing beer garden. I enjoyed the UFO club (drink 200 different beers, and get your name on the wall) which i completed before moving to the Fort Worth, TX area (Home of the original Flying Saucer) Pros: UFO Club, knowledge of their beers, great location Cons: if you cannot find free parking, it is $2 in the lot more

Great Place 4/20/2007

This place has a great feel to it and is alot of fun....It's a great place to talk and just relax.... more

A sanctuary for beer lovers... 1/30/2007

LOVED this place! Wish I was there now. :-( Knew I'd love the beer - gazillions on draft, nice variety. Wanted there to be more that I am familiar with, but loved everything I tried...Did not expect the food to be as good as it was. Yummy sausages. We cleaned our plates. Bonus - Showed up on $2.50 pint night. Could it get any better? - Why yes, the staff was very knowledgable about their beers and if they did not have an answer, they went to get somone who did. Nice atmosphere/vibe. Young crowd. I'm 40 and would bring friends my age, but not my parents - unless it was for lunch. For anyone who enjoys craft beers, microbrews, interesting imports, etc - this place is heaven. All around a great time. Thank you! Pros: Beer, beer, beer - atmosphere Cons: None in New York :-( more

Worst service ever 1/3/2007

Sure, they have about a gazillion beers. That is great...but if you never get waited on you cannot enjoy them. About 3 times in a row my friends and I have waited for over 10- 15 minutes for a server to even take our drink order. And this is when they are NOT that busy. Nice school girl uniforms, but we are thirsty damn it! Never will return...too many other bars to chose from. Cons: awful service more

Beer Lovers 11/5/2006

If you love beer, then the Flying Saucer is your place. They have a huge bar area with about every beer imaginable on draft. It's just a great place to go kick back, relax and try out some new beer. Quit reading this and go drink some beer! Pros: Beer, Beer and more Beer Cons: None more

Flying Saucer, BEST BEER PLACE in Nashville. 2006 7/17/2006

Flying Saucer is the BEST BEER PLACE in Nashville. They have more beers than most people will ever drink in a life time, However some have tried them all. The BEERtenders know there product. When you go to the Saucer get a beer you never have had, why waste beer money on PBR or Bud when you have REAL BEER to TRY. Jill the manager is so nice to everyone. Bands on Friday and Saturdays and can also be found through the week. Parking is limited, so valet in front when possible. Average age is 25 and over. Bad points, can be crowded and hard to talk ALLOWS SMOKING, often hard to breath in the main rooms. Overall the BEST "BEER" PLACE in NASHVILLE. July 18, 2006 Pros: Most Beer Choices in Nashville from around the world. BEERtenders are nice and knows there beers. Cons: SMOKING, everywhere, hard to breath. more

If you love beer.... 5/2/2006

...you'll love this place. The wall behind the bar is covered with taps and there are several coolers full of bottles. Everything from Bud Lite for bubbas and the less adventurous to flavored Belgian ales. If you like conversation and a peaceful bar hang, go after work. If you like noise and crowds, go late on the weekend when the room is full of Vandy students and bland alt bands play. The large room makes the smoke less obnoxious than it could be. Free valet parking is a plus. Food is ok but there are better places to eat. Service ranges from friendly and efficient when it's not crowded to poor when it is. There is a photo of beer drinker's icon Cliff Claven above their beer computer in the main room. Pros: Beer Selection, After-work Vibe, Bar Cons: Music, Food just OK more

smoky and loud 4/20/2006

if you are going for the beer, its a great place to go. however, if you are bothered by cigarette smoke, this place will kill you. also, it is usually pretty loud and hard to carry on a conversation. Pros: beer, beer, beer Cons: very smoky, loud, slow service more

Bar Frequenter 11/17/2004

In general the wait staff is slow, unfriendly, and prone to mistakes. The many taps/bottles and the school girl clad waitresses make this place worthy of a quick stop prior to moving on to a more enjoyable, customer friendly atmosphere. Pros: school girl outfits, beer selection, school girl outfits Cons: , food, service more

The bar shimmers with thousands of shiny copper pennies--a monument to malted beverages. The singles scene consists of 20- and 30-somethings chatting between sips of frosty pulls. Add a cozy, dark billiards room with sofas and tables, and it's one of the most comfortable spaces in town.
