Best theater in Boise! 4/4/2006

If you want to see a movie downtown, you have several choices, but I'd definitely recommend going to The Flicks if you can! For one, they offer a student discount, so while you won't be seeing a movie for dollar theater prices, you won't be paying nine bucks either. They also give you a diverse selection of films. If you are getting sick of the typical Hollywood fare, this is the place to go. Don't worry, most of the films aren't pretentious and they aren't all foreign either (although there usually is at least one foreign film if you love them like I do!) They just passed a law against drinking alcohol in theaters, which is ridiculous, so I don't know how long The Flicks will continue to be able to serve beer and wine. Get it while you can! more

nice theatre downtown. 8/2/2005

The flicks is a nice theatre located downtown. They play more of the artsy and independent films. The Flicks differs from other theatres by serving alcohol and food. They offer a different fare than the typical candy and hotdogs of other theatres. The food is like the movies they show; different but good. The Flicks offers a student discount. This place is worth going to. It offers a twist from the normal movie experience. more

Dinner and a movie 7/19/2005

Can't get better than this. My wife and I got out to see Mr and Mrs Smith. We did not have enough time for dinner we thought - babysitter late. We lined up with the crowd, and placed our order with 15 minutes to spare. My wife placed some articles of clothing on our seats to "reserve" them and returned to enjoy wine and lasagna. We Did not expect silverware or china - and did not get any. The food was what we needed. A Rabbit Ridge Merlot (Love Rabbit Ridge) and a lasagne that I would have expected at Asiagos. We ate on the patio with adequate shading. They could improve by:1) having someone bring the food to our table. 2) take the orders that require time to heat earlier in the process - like when we first enter the line - that way the food is hot and ready by the time we pay for it. PS take a glass of wine into the movie with you - just don't make a toast. more
