Best Crab Feast in Town 11/16/2011

Went there on a saturday night when the crabpot was on a hour wait. We were seated in a couple minutes on a table by the window with a amazing view of Elliott Bay. The dining room is all dark wood with laterns and a little on the dark side. The restaurant feels like a well established old school fish house. The service was attentative and friendly. The server went through the menu and explained the specialities and the four course feasts. We order the crab feast and it was pricey but after seeing all the food we were served we felt like it was a great value. We were served a red and white chowder, two buckets of clams and mussels for our group of four, a large mixed greens salad, and mountains of crab. It was a mix of dungeness, king and snow crab. We are all good eaters and we had crab left over. The staff was all very friendly and we were thanked for coming in from everyone from our server the busser and the host. The manager stoppped by to check on us partly through the meal and found out from conversation we were celebrating an anniversary. They bought us a dessert since our friends were celebrating their anniversay. We had the bread pudding which was delicious. A friendly staff and great food, with a view more

Great view, service and seafood 11/16/2011

I had a great meal at the Fishermans. I am a large man as was my brother and they were quick to offer us chairs that were more comfortable without arms. We are both over 350lbs. They were also able to fill us up with the oversized crab feast. Four courses Chowder that the best I've had, clams and mussels in a wonderful clam broth, generous mixed green salad, and the main course of mounds of fresh crab. We enjoyed a free birthday dessert that was huge. It was a pumpkin carmel mud pie. The service from Justin was some of the best we have had, the food fresh and over portioned, the view was relaxing and calming. We'll be back soon. more

Best view in seattle! 10/28/2011

We had a great time visiting the Fishermans. The location is great, the food and service was equal to the view. The menu is mostly seafood, hence the name I should have known. I did notice that they offered burgers, steaks, pastas, and salads. But I was there for seafood. We had the crab feast and it was amazing. Sooo much food, a little pricey but not when you consider we couldn't eat all the crab. Cant wait to go back. Our server Geri was fun and kept all our drinks full and was always there when we needed anything. more

Not worth the wait or view! 5/30/2010

We arrived and were seated upstairs (in chairs that don't accommodate wider patrons.) The service people were friendly throughout, but despite the fresh seafood, we did not leave happy customers. Our drinks were weak and pricey (we were told we could PAY for an extra shot of rum!) I for one am tired of sourdough bread; the chowder was a clump of flavorless flour, the ""baked potato"" was dry, unattractively presented red potatoes, and the rice substitute, also dry. The broccoli was not cooked. The tartar sauce was not adequate despite two extra servings (lost in cabbage leaves), and the birthday key lime pie - honestly, I thought maybe is was one of those fake display desserts - heavy in texture and not a hint of citrus other than a lime slice in top. For $80 I felt cheated and told those wating on our way out. What a waste of prime real estate Fisherman's Restaurant has become. Pros: Service, fresh seafood Cons: everything else.... more

Worst Service EVER! 8/12/2009

I used to be a server. I know the drill. Tourists fill the patio and you get overwhelmed...but you ALWAYS show a sense of urgency and treat the customer with respect. Our server meandered around the patio with her head in the clouds while my friend and I wasited 30mins for drinks and an hour and a half for fried food. After our meal we talked to a manager who never once apologized for our terrible experience, but instead offered to take care of our bill NEXT time we come in, as if we'd ever come back. Pros: The View Cons: Service more

The worst service, ok food 8/9/2008

We had to wait over an hour to get the food and not even an apology even after complaining. What a waste of time when visiting Seattle. Pros: Great location, atmosphere Cons: Service, over-priced considerably more

Great food, the BEST views! 7/14/2008

If you are looking for great food, along with Seattle's BEST view of all the action on the water, come to Fisherman's! I have been there several times, and have always found it to be a great place to sit out on their decks on a sunny day, and to enjoy some great food, great brew, and great service! This restaurant is a local gem, even though it is located in the hub of ""touristville"" in Seattle. Pros: Location plus great food! Cons: Sometimes crwded more

BEST VIEW IN SEATTLE!!! 4/10/2008

I was surprised to see some of the other reviews on this site. I live in Seattle and the Fishermans has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I just went down for dinner last night and enjoyed a beautiful sunset and view of Elliottt Bay. I arrived around 6pm and went upstairs to the bar to enjoy a drink with the friendly and attentive bartender Oggy while I waited for my friend to arrive. They have a nice beer selection, featuring a nice mix of local brews. When my friend arrived we were seated downstairs by a window with an incrediable view out onto the bay. We started with a Crab dip and a bucket of penn cove mussels. Both were fresh and delicious and recommended by our friendlly and attentive server Brandi. We both had the Fresh Alaskan Halibut for dinner, served with soup or salad of which we both had the New Enland clam chowder. The chowder was amazing, creamy thick, and loaded with clams. When we complimented Brandi on the chowder she told us that they have had the same guy making it for over twenty years. Well I think he has it down pat. The halibut was cooked to perfection, moist fresh, flakey. Our dinners were served with rice pilaf and fresh asparagus. We split dessert since neither of us really had room for it, but why let that stop us. We shared their bread pudding with the cranberry sauce. I was warn sweet and delicious. I had a great dinner as always and will be back soon. Thank you Oggy, Brandi. Pros: location, service Cons: parking more

Poor Customer Service 3/11/2008

My cousin and I decided to try The Fisherman's Restaurant after we found out that Ivar's brunch was over and would be closed for a couple of hours. We arrived a little after 2pm and were seated promptly. Our waiter brought us our water to drink, then came back and took our order. A little later he brought out the bread and then we didn't see him again for 45 minutes. I was wondering if he had forgotten our order. I went and asked the manager if he knew when our order was going to arrive. He found the waiter and the food was brought out shortly after that. After the food arrived, our waiter refilled our water glasses and then we did not see our waiter again for another 40 minutes. All in all, it took 2 hours to eat fish and chips. Now if it was a busy lunch or dinner rush, I could see waiting awhile, but since it was slow and a group of 4 that came in after us, got their food, paid and left before we got our bill, I was frustrated. I will not be returning. Pros: nice view Cons: horrible service more

BEST VIEW ON THE WATERFRONT!!! 9/18/2007

Writing this after having an excellent experience at the Fishermans. Happened upon this place while on a strole through the Pike Place Market. I have not been to the waterfront in several years and was pleased to see all the freshened buildings, remodeled aquarium, sculpure park, cruise ship terminal. I stopped by the Fishermans restaurant to have a drink on the deck, it was located in the center of the seattle waterfront and seemed to have the best view. I sat outside on what they referred to as thier cocktail patio. I appreciated the fact that they seem to separate between their dinner deck and the cocktail appetizer patio. I appreciate kids but also appreciate the more casual quiet enviroment that the over twenty one area can offer. Pros: quick freindly service, amazing view, cheap happy hour eats!! more

Great view, average food 8/23/2007

Spent a day downtown in late August doing the tourist thing. We picked this restaurant mainly because it was a beautiful evening and the view from the end of the pier as the sun set was absolutely amazing. Didn't run into any of the service problems other reviewers seem to have experienced as we were seated promptly and had a relatively attentive waiter (though he did seem a little overworked at times since it was unusually busy for a weekday evening). After a loaf of acceptable, but not exceptional sourdough bread and a cup of delicious fish chowder, I had the cajun seared yellowfin tuna. The fish was definitely fresh and tasty but the preparation was rather unimaginative and a somewhat heavy hand with the spice had a tendency to slightly overpower the delicately flavored tuna. Where the food really falls down is in the accompaniment which is nothing better nor worse than thoroughly mediocre. Every dish is served with the exact same rice pilaf and vegetable (green beans when I visited); no attempt whatsoever at pairing the accompaniments with the main item. And what is served is (again) passable but not great. Overall, I'd recommend Fisherman's if the weather is nice, the sun is setting, and Elliot Bay is filled with sailboats since the view of the water is absolutely stunning. The food however is nothing special and isn't a reason in itself to dine here. Average through and through. Pros: View, patio dining Cons: Food is nothing better nor worse than average more

View with entertainment for the kids!! 7/25/2007

Enjoyed the new sculpture park for a family gathering on the waterfront. Happened to stoll to the end of one of the piers finding the Fishermans Restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the patio with resonable prices and great service. We had a fresh broiled Halibut with rice and fresh asparagus which included soup or salad of which I enjoyed a creamy cup of thier house made chowder. I was told when asking about the soup that they have had the same guy making it for over twenty years, I think he has got it down, it was some of the best I've ever had. The kids had the Fish & Chips, and a cheese pizza. I was impressed with the childrens menu, they had a nice selection and even included a broiled salmon filet. The service was attentive and our waiter served up free carousel passes for the kids at the end of lunch. I was throughly impressed with the location, view, menu, and service!! I will be Back!! Pros: Location!! Cons: Parking on the waterfront more

Best place to sit outside in the summer!! 7/11/2007

Just enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the deck at the Fishermans. I rarely go to the waterfront especially in the summer when the tourism is up. Had family in town and decided to check out the newly remodeled aquirium and ended up at the end of pier 57 at the Fishermans restaurant. The fresh alaskan WILD!! salmon was amazing, cooked to perfection and served with asparagus and rice, and included my cup of clam chowder. A couple of the children enjoyed a salmon dish off the childrens menu and a hot dog. The food and the service were great. Our server Cy was attentive and provided the kids with a couple free passes to ride the carousel, nice touch. Overall a great day on the waterfront. Pros: View, Location, Menu mix Cons: parking more

Worst Seafood Place In Seattle 5/28/2007

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. My experience was so bad that I had to come home from tonight?s dinner at The Fisherman's and write this. We ended up at this so called dining establishment because The Steelhead Diner happens to be closed on Mondays (our loss). Everything about our dinner sucked. Poor service, terribly over priced, the food was bland and just plain bad. The waiter spilled water on our table and didn?t even wipe it up and would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. The fish we ordered was served with bland rice and mushy asparagus, the clam chowder was horribly over-salted, and our pasta was over-cooked and paired with the type of ?preserved? smoked salmon you would buy at a Seattle souvenir shop. There were empty tables throughout the restaurant, however they felt it would be a good idea to seat a couple and their 3 small children next to us as we tried to enjoy our cocktails. Good God how do these people stay in business? I will never get our $175 or our 1 1/2 hours of time spent back??. Cons: Everything more

Crab cakes, and roasted garlic with olives 4/12/2007

I went there on a Wednesday, and had a great experience with a couple friends. We sat at the bar upstairs for a beer as we were waiting for someone to show up. There was a guy named Oggy who knew about things in the area going on. We had a table in the main dining room with a view of Waest Seattle, the ferries, and other Elliot Bay stuff. Actually, I was wondering which of the islands were the ones across the way. The crab cakes, and sauteed mussells were great, and I had the Columbia River king salmon, but everyone else had to try the halibut. The wine paired were two different types of Stagg's Leap which went well between the two different types of fish. I want the deck to open, and was let out there to walk around and look forward to an outside summer night there. We went to the bar afterward to end up discussing Kurt Vonnegut with ""Oggy"" until it was time to go to the show. Pros: location was perfect! more

DON'T DO IT 3/20/2007

hmmmmmmmm...where to start. how can i begin to explain just how bad our dining experience was at this ""restaurant""? i seriously doubt any fisherman would claim this. we had sub-par cocktails to begin, and then moved on to the ridiculously overpriced crab ""feast"". soup...not bad for canned. ICEBERG lettuce garnished with one measly shriveled cherry tomato posing as a salad. then on to clams and mussels, ""not so good"" would be putting it nicely. finally, the ""feast"" of crab...literally stomach turning. after receiving our crab, our waitress decided to take the night off. probably the first time i considered a little D&D (yah know, dine and dash), but the restaurant was so empty we never could have pulled it off. even after stating in the comment card we had absolutely no interest in returning EVER we received coupons/gift cards in the mail...anyone want one? $100 spent on two meals...anyone hear of buyer's remorse? Pros: reading the other comments and having an agreeable laugh Cons: too many to list more

nice sunset, great food, friendly service 2/22/2007

Fisherman's Restaurant has got to be one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. We go there a lot, especially in the winter when there aren't so many tourists. I always have a hard time deciding, but I love the teryaki salmon, and my family likes the roasted garlic appetizer and the crab is always good. Our server tonight was really sweet and attentive. And you can' t find a better place to watch the sunset! more

Good fun, lovely view, friendly service 11/14/2006

The other reviews of The Fisherman's surprise me. I work in the area and so I eat there often and my experiences have been positive. The view is paramount-almost worth the trip alone. The vast majority of the seafood on the menu comes from the Pacific Northwest so it's very fresh. The clams in the herb-butter broth is absolutely amazing and the dungeness crab is great. A weekday evening is best-the service is fast and efficient and the food always comes out hot. try it! Pros: Good food and good service Cons: n/a more

there's a reason it's not so busy 10/29/2006

We actually were planning to go to the CrabPot one evening but they closed early with the new Fall hours so we went here instead. Just for good measure we ordered the big p0t of seafood since that's what we were craving. It was on the pricey side, the bread wasn't warm, the seafood was mediocre and for some reason the butter was completely tasteless. The service was so slow and for no good reason. We had our food sitting on a tray waiting to get dished out to our table and another waiter had to jump in and help because he saw us staring at our food and our waiter was nowhere to be seen. We also didn't get our water topped up and no one ever came to check on us. All in all, it's pretty clear why the restaurant had so few patrons on a Saturday evening. Pros: view Cons: very slow inattentive service more
