I bought some suits from Men's Wearhouse and the alterations got REALLY messed up. I brought them to Marina and she was fantastic! Not only fixed thier screw ups but also explained to me what type of suit works best for me and why. When making suggestions, she let me chose what I preferred to do and now I have two suits that fit me correctly. Plus I now know what to look for the next time I get suits. From now on, I will buy my clothes where I like but the alterations go to First Class Tailors. more

Marina is absolutely fantastic, no questions asked! Very honest, very caring, very sweet. Zipper broke on my favorite leather jacket(it would come apart as soon as I zip it up), so I was recommended to go to Marina by my sis, who's been going to her for any alteration she needs and swears by her! When we came to the shop, Marina looked at my jacket and said that she may be able to fix it without replacing it, but otherwise it would be about $55+ to fix it, because leather is thick and the zipper is really nice so it would cost a little extra to get a new one if she had to replace it. Then, she saw the Co label label and said, why dont you just call the company and ask them to fix it for you - they are a big company, they should have great customer service! I was so impressed that she told me that - she was looking out for my best interest, which was very phenomenal, you dont see many honest business people! As it turned out, the company were not able to fix the jacket, but they said that wherever I get it fixed, they will refund me the money with Merchandise credit. I took it to Marina and, not only did she fix the zipper without having to replace the whole zipper, she only charged me $15 and refused to take more money. I am absolutely and thurilly satisfied and will recomend her to everybody I know in LA! I also took a vintage dress to her that needed to get altered and she was so dead on witht her advice is priceless, really! she tells you the truth and...well, absolutely fantastic she is!!! I've been going to Marina for years, and all the hype is justified. She's skilled, patient, and above all she's honest -- she'll tell you when those pants just don't look right, that jacket is out of date or those jeans would be just as good with a simple $10 hem as with a more pricey original hem. She's done everything from sweatpants to my wedding dress. On the rare occasion that something doesn't come out as expected, she rectifies the situation with no questions asked. The only downside to the high quality is that the small shop on Wilshire is often a full house, and there can sometimes be quite a wait. Marina has named her business for exactly what it represents. 1ST CLASS TAILORS is by far the absolute best place in LA to have your clothes tailored. It doesn't matter if the piece is worth $10 or $1000, you're going to receive the same high quality workmanship, caring advice and timely alterations. I've been looking for a tailor I trust in LA since I moved here seven years ago, and after trial and error this is the only one I trust. Marina has fantastic knowledge of what she's doing, and she's incredibly upfront. She will decline to do any work if the garment doesn't need it or isn't well-suited for alterations, and she points out every single potential issue ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect. And what to expect is expert tailoring - everything I bring there looks amazing afterward. It is a little pricey for routine alterations (taking in shirts, hemming pants), but for suit jacket alterations and other big tasks she and her staff can do WONDERS at very competitive prices. I have know Marina for way over a decade, and I have to say that even after I moved away from the area, I will travel over thirty minutes to see her. I have never had to bring any garment back for adjusting. She gets it right the first time around. She is also brutally honest. If she does not think it is worth fixing she will tell you. Marina, the owner, is a magician! She can help you update your current wardrobe. She is always honest with her opinion of your new and old clothes. If something is not right, she will either fix it or tell you when it is not worth fixing. From tailoring to wardrobe consulting, she is the best! My husband also trusts her opinion on his clothing. When there is no parking space, the vallet of the shopping center will take your car so parking is not an issue. I had a Vera Wang dress altered here in August for a wedding. The work was extensive and complicated. Esperanza did an incredible job. She is an expert, and I truly feel lucky to have found her. This dress alteration could have been a disaster; but, thankfully, the dress turned out exactly as I had hoped it would. I am grateful for the Esperanza and the rest of the staff's expertise and professionalism. My only advise is to plan more complicated alterations in advance. more

I was nervous going in, but Marina put me right at ease. She's honest, which I appreciate. She has an incredible eye for what works and what won't work. I left feeling great about my experience. I have been meaning to write this review for a while. I'm a lawyer, and a couple of months ago, I had to get several suits altered in preparation for a trial--and in short order. I have used other local tailors and had been less than pleased (including another, highly regarded and very expensive one). Thank goodness I found Marina! The work was spectacular, her eye is excellent, and everyone is friendly to boot. I now have another suit that needs altered, and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. This is a tailor shop that really knows what they are doing. You will feel comfortable with the whole process. From the moment you walk in the door you are treated in a friendly, professional manner. They listen to what you want and advise you as to what is the best thing to do to get the results you are looking for. I have never picked up anything and been unhappy. Excellent work always!!!! Finally! I have tried one alterations place after another for literally 20 years, and never been satisfied...until now. If you're a perfectionist like me, you know how hard it is to bring something you love in to be altered. Marina at First Class Tailors is a complete expert on what should be done with your clothes and also on what just won't work. And she won't take your money if she knows that it just won't work. Here's what makes Marina's business the best: Friendly, honest, quality tailoring. If you're trying to make an item what it can't be Marina will tell you. She will also recommend height of shoes to go with certain style pants. I've been coming here for over 8 years and will never go anywhere else as long as I'm in LA.
