First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church is a warm and inviting group of people who want to share the love of Jesus Christ with as many as possible. Their worship style is usually blended to appeal to a broad group. So many places these days have singers that want to be on American Idol - not at FBC! What I really like about the worship is that the really skilled musicians don't want yo to wath them perform, they want to lead you to worship. This church is very family oriented. They have programs for children to learn Bible, music and missions. The Youth group has it's own praise team too and plenty of growth opportunities for teenagers to become firmly established in their faith. It has women's ministry and supports missions. Recently there seems to have been significant increase in young families / couples attending. There is also a powerful outreach to college students by offering them free Sunday night meals. There has been as many as 125 students attending. They have a saying, "At First, you're family!" And you really feel like that from the first moment. We moved here in 2006 and we still feel the love growing. There are always exciting seasonal services. In even number years they do a Living Christmas Tree program that will knock your socks off!! more

Good: The worship services are blended and led from a heart full of Joy, The sermons are expository, but also have numerous powerful applications, The youth and childrens ministries are effective and not just entertaining.. Improvements: It would be nice if the PowerPoint didn't have to appear on a screen that lowers in front of the baptistry and cross.. Other: You don't have to be wealthy or deeply steeped in religious traditions to feel comfortable in this church. The people are loving and compassionate.. more

An earlier review said that this church uses real wine in the Lord's Supper and also requires membership for participating in it. I have serves as pastor there since Aug. 2006 and both points are false and have always been false. Obviously this reviewer has us confused with another church because I know that he/she wouldn't want to bear false witness against a church. Fortunately one can find forgiveness in Jesus Christ and if Jesus has forgiven you, then we would never consider harboring bad feelings either! FBC is a family of dynamic Christians seeking to serve a living and powerful Savior by knowing Him and making Him known throughout the world. the first baptist church has like a small family church feel to it. it is a small church. it has the congregation and a basment. kids youth group is split up into 3 groups, which are teens, kids, and children. the adults have sunday school in the congregation. the church is strict about membership though. you cannot participate in communion if you are not a member, and they use real wine during communion. more
