First Awakenings

What can I say; they have created a jewel on the bay. I was in Monterey with my fiancee four days and we found this place on day two. I wish we had another day to try more of the menu. Although we ventured to the Salinas store which was not quite as good as the one on the bay, First Awakenings is one of those ""Must Go"" places while in the Monterey area. This is THE place for breakfast in Monterey.Big portions, coffee thermos and water pitcher left on the table, and very attentive service from the staff. My husband loved the skillet breakfast:country potatoes on the bottom with eggs and ham piled on top, served with an english muffin.Pancakes are the size of the plate, literally.The omelette's are fluffy and delicious.We highly recommend using the Chunky Garlic Pepper Sauce on everything! It's so good we bought 2 bottles to bring home. Pets are welcome to sit out on the patio while dining. We found this place by another online review and were not disappointed. In fact, we had breakfast here three days in a row, trying different things, and each meal was tasty. This will no doubt be our breakfast joint each time we visit Monterey. Prices average between $8-10 and are well worth it. Other reviewers mentioned waiting in line, but we never did.We were there around 10am and were able to get a table outside right away. OK, what do you want? Prompt service...you got it. Great presentation...there it is. Lots of food...burp. Reasonable prices...plenty left over for the outlet stores nearby. Variety...all you can think off...and then some. Location...on Cannery Row, near the Aquarium. The only...only...drawbacks are the long waiting lines over the weekends. My friends and I visited this place to get a hearty breakfast. And, that is what we got. I ordered the blueberry pancakes. They are served in huge proportions. I went this morning with 6 other family members. We all thought that our food was great. We had the Benedict, Pancakes and Burritos. Everything was delicious. The fruit cup was even good but could have been just a lttle bit bigger. Portions of the entrees were plenty ample. Rachel took care of us. She was very friendly, fun and attentive.
