Fireplace City

As of June 24, 2014, Fireplace City is in the process of filing for bankruptcy. They have however, continued to take peoples money, and write contracts, up to the day they closed. Their Contractors HIC#, PA059149, which is a registration all businesses must apply for, and keep current, has been expired since November 25, 2011. That's right, for 3 years, they have operated their business without being registered . If you are one of the many people this company has scammed, please file a report with the Attorney General, AND the State Police. more

I had Fireplace City install the Elite 44 Fireplace in my home and have to say, they did an exceptional job. We own two businesses and I can tell you that I would hire these guys in a heartbeat. They care about the customer and these days you don't see that very often. They went the extra mile in every way. We waited 53 years for a real wood fireplace and got lucky when we picked the very best. Sam and Matt Wesson will be on our minds and in our thoughts every time we enjoy it. Thanks for making our 53 year dream come true. more

AWFUL. We bought a wood stove from them in september which we received without a problem. Then on 10/31/13, we purchased a liner kit. Here it is, 12/14/13 and no product. We have gotten every excuse in the book of where it is. I've even been on the phone with the owner but to no avail. I called the store every day and left messages, left messages for the owner, and hardly ever a response. Customer service is the worst. Once they get your money, good luck getting back in touch with them. If you can get a hold of a store employee, some of them will attempt to help but everything usually goes back to the owner, Sam Weston. Today was the last straw when I was told it would be Wednesday and it's nowhere in sight. I told them I wanted my money back. I will see if they actually process the refund. I doubt it so I imagine we will have to dispute it with the credit card company. Horrible business stay away from these people. I hope they go out of business- this guy has no right running a business. more

I bought a Vermont casting wood stove from fireplace city 8 yrs ago I had put a hole in the reefracturing unit inside the stove I called fireplace city for them to order this part and to put new gaskits in the stove that was in june 3 weeks later I had not herd from them so I went to the store and talked to the person thier and was told it was shipped 2 days a go and they would call me when the parts came in. here it is now 8/17/13 almost 3 months I called them and ask why they have not called me about fixinf the wood stove and they told me that Vermont casting was having a owner change and have a back up on orders they will call me when this problem was solved. So out of interest I called Vermount Castings and ask them about the hold up and they told me there is no problems thier that they could send the part out that very day because it is in stock. Pissed off is more than I can say, Fireplace city does not return calls and when you try to get hold of them almost always the answering more

I agree with the other reviewer about the service. I was relatively pleased with the information I received initially, but once the check was handed over-- forget it! I have been waiting for 2 months (and have called SEVERAL times with no return call) for my fireplace. Once I finally was able to get a time for the installers to come, they arrived (late) and didn't introduce themselves-- just walked in the door. There was a "miscommunication"-- which somehow means that even though I paid for my fireplace two months ago the insert had yet to arrive. I called the manufacturer and they say that all orders are shipped within 5 business days. Sounds like somebody forgot to order the product. I'm so dissatisfied that I'm considering starting all over with this exhausting process. You would think that in this economy businesses would be bending over backward to make the customer happy. Not Fireplace City. Seriously, I NEVER write reviews, but I would highly recommend that you go elsewhere. more

I used Fireplace City for a new wood stove insert. The staff, meaning the owner, was very friendly and professional until I paid for the stove. After that, it took several calls and messages to hear back from him. A month after I purchased the stove I called several times to eventually find out that the stove was at the store and had been there for several weeks. It took about five more calls to get the owner to install the fireplace. He did not finish the installation and said he would call back to set up a day to finish it. this was four and a half weeks ago. He has not returned any of my phone calls since then. Needless to say, I am less than impressed with the service of Fireplace City. I do not know how they stay in business. Go somewhere else!! more

So I decided o upgrade my fireplace. I went to Fireplace city and decided to go for it. I was told work would take about 1 week and would start the Second week in Feb. 2010. They started a month late and only work at my place 1 day a week. I'm never told when they will be there and when they won't. This place is terrible to deal with. Unprofessional on all levels. Oh yeah, they ruined my carpet and so far refuse to acknowalge it even though I asked several times what they are going to do about it. Find another fireplace store for your fireplace, stove and awning needs. They are not worth it. Pros: None Cons: Poor Work more

Fireplace City carries a nice line of pellet, propane and coal stoves. We have purchased both a coal stove and a propane stove/fireplace. I am somewhat reluctant to recommend them though because I am less than impressed with service after the sale. more
