Best

The tandoori oven roasted bass, crispy duck confit, and brined pork chop were all fabulous tonight. I'd be a regular if I lived in Cleveland. Pros: Food, Chef, Space, Open Kit...

worst service i've seen - better go to Sarava or Yours Truly 5/16/2009

so we went on a Wednesday night at about 8:45ish, we've been trying to go for months but havent had the chance. everything was really nice, the pretty girl sat us down, there wasnt a wait for a table without a reservation. the nice waiter took our orders - i got a burger no bread with all the condiments on the side due to food allergies, the waited even came by 10 minutes later to ask if i wanted ketchup. my dad got the chicken livers without the bacon - he's strict about not eating bacon and my mom got fish, nothing out of the ordinary. heres where it went downhill - we waited until about 9:40 to get our food, by that time there were 2 other parties left. so it took about 45 minutes to get our food. let me remind you, we sat down without a wait, without a reservation - and the place was maybe 1/4 to 1/3 full. so there shouldnt be any reason for the food to take 45 minutes to prepare. when we get our food mine was done to the T - no bread and all the condiments on the side. my moms wasnt a problem. then my dad got his - guess what bacon right on top. he sent it back without hesitating and told them to keep it and that he didnt want them to take off the bacon and bring it back. this was the worst service ive seen in a while. we finished our meal and left him an honest tip. not only will i not come back, i'll discourage people from going. they get great reviews, and i'll admit that my burger was good, but the service is inexcusable. Fire - you stink Pros: good burger Cons: service was awful, got my dads order completely wrong more

fire still best on the Square 3/28/2008

Shaker Square is quickly becoming our favorite destination for special occasions as well as casual nights out. We dined at fire this past Sunday for Easter brunch and had an absolutely fabulous meal. I ordered the strada, a special for the day, and could not have been happier. It was cooked to perfection, not too crispy, not too mushy-- absolutely just right. I also indulged with a mimosa and unlike other more stingy restaurants, the drink wasn't just fizzy OJ, but rather a perfect blend of OJ and champagne. We were so pleased with our meal that we stopped by this evening (Fri.) for a bite to eat after a movie (also conveniently situated on the Square). The restaurant was still quite busy at 9:30 PM, and we enjoyed another fabulous meal. The food was excellent and the service was attentive, but not overbearing. Even though we were dining a bit later in the evening, both the waitstaff and the kitchen paid just as much attention to getting the details right as if we had been dining at 7:30. We can't wait for the weather to get warm as we'll be spending many nights this summer enjoying terrific meals on the patio at fire. Pros: Location, food, service more

Do not go....food has gone downhill fast..... 8/22/2007

We were at Fire tonight for dinner after not going back for months after a bad breakfast experience, Brunch rather......I had the ""gourmet"" hamburger and after swallowing about 3 different bites that I thought just had some grissell in it I did not swallow and managed to pull out a piece of bone that was in the patty!!! God knows what all else I had already swallowed....I put it on my bread plate and showed the waiter and he took it to the kitchen to show the chef.....chef came out and appologized and said that they had been grinding their own meat but had switched to having it ground for them.....he had called the company to inform them about the bone I found....I was not charged for the hamburger....but will not ever go back....what else had been put through the grinder with the meat!!!!!! Pros: can sit outside Cons: $5 valet parking and no other choice, poor service, bad food, bad neighborhood more

You'll love it... guaranteed! 8/21/2006

We've been in Cleveland for only one year, but have made it a point to try all of the hot spots. This is one that we've been back to time after time for everything from a romantic dinner for two, to entertaining a party of eight out-of-town clients. The food is always superb. The service is always attentive, but not pretentious. The atmosphere is perfect inside, or better yet, outside on a nice evening. Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service Cons: N/A more

Very Disappointing 2/17/2006

My wife and I just returned from our first (and last) visit to Fire. I might as well have eaten a box of salt for supper. Everything on my plate was salty; I had the pork chop. Even my wife thought her rice was a little salty (she had the cod.) I told our waitress, and she gave an explanation of soaking the meat in brine. I question why there would be even more salty bits of pork added to the vegtables. The waitress did indicate she would bring something else; but I was quite turned off by the pork. They should have shown more concern over my complaint. (She didn't even offer to adjust the bill.) Overall let's face it... we go to a restaurant to eat. It's easy to overlook some things, but the food needs to be exceptional! My mother-in-law can make things salty! Cam Pros: Funky, Hip Cons: Bad Value, Food more

Fire is Fabulous 7/18/2002

We got there early and were able to get a cute table outside on Shaker Square. The caesar salad was unique and creative. The owner recommended that I get the shirmp appetizer and add it to the salad. This made for the perfect summer dinner! Highly recommended. more

Great Atmosphere, Even Better Food! 7/14/2002

I recently went to Fire and had a great meal. I was lucky enough to talk to the chef and get a personal recommendation. From apetizers to dessert, the food was great. Our hostess was great and we were seated right on time (with a reservation). Our waiter was always there when we needed him. We loved the atmosphere so much, we went back the next night for drinks at the bar. Well done! Pros: Food, Wine, Waitstaff Cons: N/A more

You better believe it. 7/1/2002

Fire's great reviews have packed the house so make sure you you call for reservations a fews weeks ahead of time. A HOT TIP. If it's a beautiful day you may be able to call in that day since they do not book the patio ahead and you may get to sit on the new Shaker Square, flowers galore on a first come basis. The hottest seller is the crispy duck. Get a pizza for $8:00 as an appetiser and its enough for four. Try the T-Bone veal or the Salmon. The chocolate, banana bread pudding is to die for. Pros: Great taste., good selection, patio Cons: res. weeks ahead. more

Chic Urban Dining on Shaker Square 6/21/2002

FIRE is a must for anyone seeking a lively urban atmosphere and delicious food. With some of the best people watching in town, the outside seating makes for the perfect dinner on a spring/summer night. The 30-layer cake is a must bc I haven't had a dessert this good in a long time! Pros: Desserts, Location, Lively atmosphere Cons: Wait more
