I had the best mani/pedi of my life with Debra the other day. She was gentle and attentive. She got all the dead skin off, and I'm a bigger girl so that takes awhile! She took her time and made it feel like a real spa treatment. I was really impressed by her professionalism. I will always recommend Debra and I will be back! more

This place is such a wonderful place because the location is not that stressful and you can always expect that your room will be ready after a long day. more

The very best in the Triangle. 4/28/2008

I can only say that I'm kicking myself for not having visited here sooner. \r \r Chef Graham Fox will dazzle you with an incredible array of tastes, smells and platings. His short stint at the French Laundry seems evident with several Thomas Keller influences. \r \r We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu, an eight-course, three-hour tour (plus a box of sweets to take home). We also decided to let Sommelier Max Kast pair each dish for us, and the result was very generous pours of some wonderful wines and an informative, brief chat with Max about each. Since most plates are very small portions, we almost felt as though we were on more of a wine tasting tour than a food tasting jaunt, but we were not about to gripe about it.\r \r I won't bore you with a description of each dish. Let's just say they were all astounding (see image of menu). \r \r One very small negative: we felt the lone chandelier in our room was too bright. We talked to two different members of the staff about it, but they must have felt the lighting was just fine the way it was.\r \r Regardless, the only meal I've had which comes remotely close to this was at the Inn at Little Washington. That meal was a full hour longer, but it takes four hours to drive there. To have a dining experience of that caliber--- so much closer to home--- is truly gratifying.\r \r The restaurant at the Fearrington House represents the very best culinary expertise offered in The Triangle. My humble recommendation does not do it true justice.\r \r $340 for two (excluding gratuity).\r \r Pros: Few places compare to this culinary treat Cons: lighting a bit bright in our room more

Nothing Extraordinaire 3/25/2008

Easter lunch was good but service wasn't great for a restaurant w/ 4 or 5 star criteria rate. When we ordered our glasses of wine, our server poured wine in each glass, only 1/4 of a glass. He just basically emptied out what's left of an opened bottle. My husband asked him to pour an adequate amount for what we have ordered at that time(a glass of wine for each of us). After opening another bottle, poured more wine, making sure to stop at an imaginary line he had.As we are making our toast & started on sipping on the wine, he interrupted by asking,""So, are you ready to order?!"" I can't help but notice how the next table from us have received a better service from a young lady who seemed to know good restaurant service-using a table scraper, not reaching over the table w/ her arms.Overall, it just felt like an ordinary restaurant compared to other restaurants that we've been to that are deserving of 4 or 5 stars. Pros: Quaint place in Pittsboro,NC Cons: Sub par service for a 5 star restaurant more

Amazing! 2/10/2008

This restaurant is absolutely oustanding! The service and food were impeccable. If you are looking for a special evening and are willing to spend some money, this is the only place you should look. Pros: prompt, subdued, and extremely professional service more

Southern Charm 11/17/2007

My husband and I recently came for a weekend getaway (our first trip to Fearrington), expecting a relaxing, serene experience and got that and so much more. From the moment we arrived, passing the belted cows and seeing the quaint village shops we knew we would want to stay for more than just the 2 nights. We were instantly greeted by the front desk staff who were all informative, friendly, and professional-even escorted us to our rooms with a tour! Our room was decorated exquisitely-had a real english style that made it truly unique. I could tell the rooms were decorated with the finest of detail and had an older look to them yet had all the new amentities such as the heated towel racks/new flat screen TV's & DVD players. We finally ventured out of the room to enjoy afternoon tea which could not have been any better sitting by the crackling fire on the chilly November day we had. I then walked through the shops and was surprised to actually find some great Christmas gifts for my family-I'm sure I could have found many more for myself had my husband not found me! That night we went to the restaurant for our 3 course meal which was truly the best meal I've had in a long time-the setting, service, and food was well worth it and I left that night quite satisfied. Overall, Fearrington was truly a fabulous experience for us, and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! We will definitely be returning!! more

Superb service, Delicious food! 8/21/2007

We had the best meal ever at the Fearrington house! I knew the menu would delight from reading it on the Fearrington website, but dining there we found each course was delicious and beautifully presented. True, it was expensive for this area, but the food really was not like any you can find in North Carolina. It was better than any of the best restaurants in San Francisco, New York or Paris. So we felt like we had stumbled on a bargin. The restaurant and the whole village is like an immaculate and romantic English village. My wife insisted we look at buying a house in Fearrington, because once you are there you never want to leave. more

World class restaurant here in NC! 8/21/2007

My husband and I travel quite a bit and enjoy dining around the world and we have found that the best dining experince can be had right in our backyard. The Fearrington House never fails to surpass our expectations. From the first rate staff, to the attention to perfecting the smallest detail. One truly feels like the evening has been personally tailored to fit your every desire. Each visit we feel privilaged to delight in the artistry and skill of Chef Fox. Visit the Fearrington House once and you will return again and again! more

Unfortunately not worth the Drive or the money..... 8/3/2007

Very unsatisfied with the price/quality/service for a Restaurant in this price range.\r \r Food ok, but not worth the price.\r \r Dining room windows dirty covered with spider webs\r The Bar area had a terrible old almost like mold smell\r This aspects alone are unforgivable for a Restaurant which claimes to have a 5 star rating \r \r Wrote a honest letter to the General Manager, not even got an answer or excuse....\r more

Disappointing for what is advertised 7/22/2007

Minus:\r No parking space near the Restaurant, no valet parking either !!!\r Ood not to identify smell in the bar\r Dirty windows with big spider webs in Dining room\r Food ok, but not worth the asking price\r got 2 x invoice without asking !!!! \r \r Plus:\r friendly knowable staff more

Disappointed - Not up to Relais & Chateaux Expectations 10/15/2006

Stayed for my birthday in October 2006 and booked a standard room. The room was fairly small, both the furnishings and furniture had seen much better days, there were stains on the carpet, and the TV was a 10 year old Zenith model which you wouldnt see in budget hotel never mind a luxury inn!! The staff were very nice though one waiter was a little condescending, the afternoon tea and breakfast were both superb, I did not have dinner though felt pressure to do so by a number of staff asking when were our reservations.. Pros: Wonderful setting and great food Cons: Standard Rooms were obviously below standard!! more

Good, but not incredible 7/9/2006

The restaurant itself is great. We really liked the atmosphere. The servers were attentive, but not overbearing. The food was not as original and extravagant as we hoped it would be, but it was good nonetheless. The better items on the menu cost an additional $25 on top of the fixed price of $65 per person for 3 courses. I would recommend this restaurant, but if you are a real food snob, you may be disappointed. Go for the whole experience, not just the food. Pros: Nice setting, very good service Cons: Not much originality of the food for the price more

magical treat! 2/24/2005

My husband and I make a point to come here at least once a year. The food is wonderful, very well thought out and prepared, and we find they are very helpful in choosing wines without pushing you to get the most expensive bottle. The staff is very attentive yet you never realize you have an army of servers orchestrating your meal. It's the perfect place to allow yourself to be pampered, well worth the value and the village and its gardens are like another world. Just a great way to relax and have great conversations. Pros: service, food, wine more

Get Romantic Getaway 2/18/2005

It's pricey, yet you pay for what you get....and you get a lot at Ferrington House. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there, which was a wonderful memory! Pros: Romantic, Beautiful Setting more

disappointment 6/11/2004

I was looking forward to an original experience at Fearrington Restaurant, but was greatly disappointed by the average food, bad service, and ridiculous prices. Visitors to the restaurant should be aware that the menu is prix-fixe and the variety within the categories leaves something to be desired. Although there are many waiters that are relatively attentive, most of them are snobby and created an intimidating and uncomfortable atmosphere. The food was good, but I have had much better food at more reasonable prices and in a more invinting atmosphere elsewhere in the Triangle area. Unless you are looking to pay a lot to have people turn their noses up at you, I would go somewhere else. Pros: Decent Food Cons: , Overpriced, Out of the way more

Forget Second Empire, This is the Place! 7/31/2003

After 2 very disappointing outings to Second Empire (we only went the second time because we thought we've give them the benefit of the doubt), we decided to spend our next special occassion at The Fearrington House Restaurant and we were wowed. The setting is gorgeous, the food was exotic and extremely tasty, and the service was empeccable. Unlike a lot of fine restaurants, the staff was friendly and hospitable. We were impressed with every dish we had. We don't mind spending money when the meal and experience are worth it, and this place is definitely worth it! more

Wonderful 7/1/2003

Our stay was fantastic. The service was above and beyond anywhere else in the state. Our room had the most beautiful view of the gardens... we will surely be back to visit again soon! more

Way Overrated!! 5/19/2003

I am from NYC and have eaten at many great restaurants and I expected the Fearrington Restaurant to live up to my standards and the hype surrounding it. I was very disappointed and really did not like anything I ordered. I had the shrimp frisee salad, the goat cheese salad, and the filet mignon. The goat cheese was delicious, but everything else was mediocre at best. The filet tasted strange and the shrimp was bland. The bread was even hard and stale. The atmosphere was decent, but a little stuffy. I had the chocolate Souffle for dessert and I loved it, but the fondant cake was dry and nothing special. The meal was way overpriced!!! The meal was expensive even by NYC standards and it wasn't even good. Definitely skip this restaurant and go for something better. Cons: food, expensive more
