When I was in high school my friend and I both drummers heard about Faust music store and wanted to go to see what they had. We drove down there and we were teenagers but we had some money I worked part time. The first thing he told us is that he is a technician and we shouldn't waste his time if we didn't come in to buy something. We took a quick look around and left. You must experience the joy of shopping at Faust Music first hand to understand what cannot be put into words here. Let me just say that it is a completely unique experience; not just a "shopping" experience, but a "life" experience if you will. Faust has been located on Milwaukee's south side for more than 50 years and most musicians from around these parts know of this zany proprietor. You must shop "by appointment" only which seems odd, since most retailers want customers in their shop. Not true for Faust, he only wants you if you're going to spend money the instant you walk into the shop - he doesn't have time for dilly-dalliances nor does he suffer fools gladly. However, buying a single pair of drumsticks can turn into a mind-expanding three-hour socio-political-philosophical diatribe, so bring money also for the parking meter. You will need it. He has some amazing stories - which he might share with you over some wine and anchovies, and some pretty good drums. Who knows what he has in stock, because he won't let most people see it. However, that isn't really why we shop here - it is for the man, the myth, the legend known as Faust. That, my friends, is why Faust Music gets a perfect score - you will never meet another like him. more
