I've been to Farrago at least 5 times, all for brunch and I will keep coming back. Pato is a great DJ and the mimosas don't stop coming. more

Disappointing and Inefficient and Not Diner Friendly 10/13/2011

We used a travelzoo voucher for dinner last night. We always order a bottle of wine and tip on what the entire bill would be. There was a party in the front bar area and we were seated outside, it started to rain so we went inside. We ordered the crabcake to share (part of the deal - a shared appetizer, though my date thought and told our server he might also order a small pizza as he was very hungry). We also ordered a flight of chardonnay wines. It took awhile for the wines to arrive. We got our app and the server didn't mention getting the pizza so we didn't either. For our entrees, I ordered pesto shrimp and my date ordered the steak. We hadn't even gotten our second wine or finished our app when the entrees arrived (really bad timing on the restaurants' part)...no apologies - she put the plates down - we asked for the second flight...my pesto shrimp was really good - my date's steak which was sold as a thick 12ounce steak appeared and looked like a breakfast steak - it was paper-thin and you cannot get a paper-thin steak medium rare (and it wasn't). We decided not to complain - we should have. We asked our server to bring the next wine flight and he said the owner didn't like to have flights done like that...well, who is the customer? When I have done flights in the past, you get your wines, a small slip of paper describes each one so the waiter doesn't have to...we had hoped to taste one we liked (and we liked #2) and order a bottle...but we were waiting for wine #3...and by that time we were just about done with dinner...what was the point? My date loves chocolate, so when the dessert menu was brought, we ordered the mousse. Our server returned and said there was only cheesecake (this wasn't late at night, so they should have had something more than cheesecake)...we decided not to have any dessert. We mentioned to our waiter that we liked the shrimp very much, that the steak wasn't as described by the waiter or the menu, that the delivery of the wine flight was slow and ineffective (and why), and that we love dining...but this was a poor experience at any price. The manager came over and said the cooler had broken in the night so things bought at the market that day were what they could get...seriously - a poor excuse. A good restaurant let's their wait staff know what is good - especially when what was bought for the day is of poor quality...the flights delivered as the 'owner' thinks they should be delivered is a bad idea because we didn't order a bottle of wine (and would have)...no dessert and you blame that on the cooler? Don't bring a dessert menu if you only have cheesecake? There are plenty of choices in town...unless they improve their service and let the customer decide if they want their wines at one time or as the owner thinks it should be (and really - owner - if that's how you want it - at least don't make the customer ask for them and sit with food in front of them with no wine)...i doubt i'd return. they gave me a $10 certificate as I left...I don't know if I'll use it or not...disappointing. more

very disappointed 7/11/2011

So my friends and I went last Sunday to Farragos for brunch based on some recommendations from others. I was super excited but that all came to an end very quickly. When we arrived the place looked messy and dirty with food, silverware and napkins on the floor. (It was only 10am so the big brunch rush hadn't hit yet.) The host practically ran to seat us without looking to see if we were following him as he weaved his way through the bar. No menus were given to us for the first 10 minutes. Our server, although nice and polite would take her forever in between visits to the table. She got something wrong on each of our orders not to mention it took almost an hour for our food to come out. The food was average (my breakfast tacos were lukewarm at best). The coffee was cold and weak. On one of the orders the waitress brought us 2 fried eggs extra on the side which we didn't order. We sent those back though the waitress was very hesitant to remove them from the table. Then when she gave us the check she mentioned how she decided not to charge us for the 2 fried eggs, as if she was doing us a favor. WE DIDN""T ORDER THEM! The music being played by the dj was inaudible for the first hour then they cranked it up to where you couldn't hear yourself think. I am pretty easy to please but the experience here was so bad, I will never go back. more

Poor Service 4/17/2011

We visited Farrago this Sunday. My friend had booked us a table and specifically asked that it be outside. Upon arrival she was told all the outside seating was ""booked"". Deduct one point. It took an age for our drinks to arrive, and the waitress seemed unconcerned with taking our order. Eventually we did get to order. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We watched people come in, be seated, order and receive their food. The waitress appeared oblivious to how long we'd been there. Another friend asked about our order and the food arrived some minutes after that. I would hazard to guess that the order got lost. Of course, my order came out wrong. But, the waitress was nowhere to be seen, and it was already 75 minutes since we'd arrived, I ate it anyway. The waitress never came to check if everything was OK. There was no obvious manager to speak with. The food was OK, nothing special. I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't had to wait so long for it. It took another eon to receive our checks. The waitress did at least have the good sense to not add on her own gratuity. Farrago clearly has no problem pulling customers in. They do have a problem in that mistakes in their ordering process go undetected, and their staff are unconcerned. more

Great brunch 7/11/2010

Had a great brunch this morning. The stuffed Toast is AMAZING! It is a generous portion and the bottomless mimosa for $9 topped off a wonderful meal. Pros: great atmosphere, super food more

Comfortable, good food 4/25/2010

We went to Farrago's on Tuesday of Admin Assistants' Week. Service was prompt, excellent, but the waiter didn't know the food ingredients (a party member is gluten intolerant). He had to run to the kitchen several times to ask. When asked if the chili was spicy, he haughtily replied, ""Well, chili IS spicy."" Duh!!! The question was the degree -- not a lecture on what spicy means. Water glasses were promptly refilled, the manager came by to check. Except for the rude waiter, it was a relaxing lunch, where conversation for a party of 10 was possible. Pros: Great service, decent prices Cons: Condescending waiter who didn't know his menu more

Around the world in midtown 3/31/2010

I feel like someone went to eat at Cheesecake Factory and started thinking ?hey, this is a great concept, but what if we did an upscale local version?? The idea of a menu featuring items from all over the world is certainly an easy way to please a crowd. Thankfully Farrago has not given into the novelty of their concept and continues to serve up quality food in a pleasant atmosphere with consistently sound service. While some may label their food as ?fusion? there is no fusing going on here. Dishes are individually influenced by their chosen region and flavors are not mixed across the categories. I?m grateful for this since the ?fusion trend? results in culinary disaster for all but the most talented and creative of chefs. At dinner time, Farrago prepares a mean burger: thick, juicy, your chosen shade of pink and topped with heaps of glorious cheese. For brunch, treat yourself to the brioche French toast stuffed with cream cheese. If it?s been a tough week, bottomless mimosas are an option. more

Middle of the Road for Midtown 3/21/2010

In the dictionary, Farrago is defined as a medley or assortment of things. Farrago's menu is diverse, but standard American fare that one can get at a Cheesecake Factory. Pros: Natural lighting; busy for brunch Cons: Service is hit or miss more

Decent Place. Nothing Extraordinary. 11/1/2009

I originally wanted to get the spinach & feta souffle but I was informed that they ran out of that item. So I ordered the Breakfast Quesadillas. It was okay. I could have made something similar better at home. Overall, I have yet to see anything spectacular about Farrago. Pros: bottomless mimosa for $9 Cons: ran out of menu item & parking situation was a pain. more

Rude, Unacceptable Behavior 7/20/2009

At about 8:30PM on Saturday, July 18, 2009, our party of 7 arrived at Farrago?s for dinner. We were looking forward to sampling some international cuisine, while celebrating the birthday of one of our family members. more

Trendy Vibe and great Salads and Pizza 7/3/2009

I went with my husband about a month ago and was super dissappointed with my food AND the service. My favorite Goat Cheese Brulee salad that I used to love and in fact wrote a good review about on citysearch was nothing even close to what it was. My pizza was just blahhh and the service was terrible. They burned my pizza the first time and the cook (I think?) came and apologized and gave me another for free but it took like 20 minutes to get our food. I asked if there was a change in ownership and the waiter said that it had just changed hands in the past month so that would explain the terrible experience and complete change in quality of food. This was my previous review: I crave the salads at Farrago. They have a Goat Cheese Brulee Salad that I love and they have an awesome Cesar Salad. My husband likes their sausage Pizza. Pros: Good Food and Quick Service Before Rockets Games Cons: Parking Maybe? more

threw up all night 1/23/2009

service has always been slow and scarce but the food every now and then made up for it (especially brunch). however, after spending the entire evening with violently ill i'm threw and i don't think you should risk it either. my case was 100% traceable back to the lunch i ate at farrago. i'll spare you the gruesome details, just trust this warning. more

Chuck is back!!! 1/2/2009

Thankfully Chuck is back, and the food and service have improved drastically. My daughter, and a party of about 20 went for dinner New Year's Eve, and everyone raved. My daughter has declared the pizza crust the best in town, and we're going back tomorrow. Pros: Everything once you're inside Cons: Parking can be a problem. more

Mixed feelings 11/22/2008

The food was pretty good. I had Tenderloin Migas for Brunch [haven't been for dinner]. They were alright- but the guacamole was great. Pros: Good menu, bottomless mimosas, parking Cons: midtown sleaze crowd more

Solid, trendy American 8/6/2008

No complaints. Try the specials; they're typically the best on the menu. Brunch can get hectic, and you definately need reservations for it. Pros: Food Cons: Service can get confused and slow more

Awful food and service 5/3/2008

We had an awful experience. The service was non-existent. My food was awful and the server NEVER came back to check on us. She actually looked right at me and turned around twice. I finally went up to the host stand for assistance. The manager came over and apologized. The server FINALLY came back over and refilled our drinks. This was after the rest of our party had finished eating. We left our check open with cash and credit cards showing. She walked by several times before picking up the check for us. I wouldn't recommend this place. Pros: Guacamole was good Cons: service is awful more

these other reviewers are nuts. 3/24/2008

hi. the food is well flavored and fantastic. i love the spring rolls, the goat cheese salad, the fish and chips, the jerked pizza and more. the place is cute and the food is different. brunch is badass. great cajun benedict, polenta, stuffed french toast... i will say the service can be on the slow side. more

Ruined Birthday 1/17/2008

We were celebrating my best friend's 49th birthday witha party of 22. Very close to 1:00 P.M., the hostess came up to our table and loudly proclaimed that she needed our tables because a party of 25 was coming in. We quickly sang happy birthday, cut the cake, and people began to leave soon after. A few us hung around the bar because we weren't quite finished with the bottomless mimosas. After a bit, I went to the restroom and noticed that our table for 22 had been split into several tables. That made me very angry. I waited way past 3:00 P.M. for the arrival of the party of 25 that never showed. I went to the manager to complain. He seemed genuinly concerned, but our party was already gone. There was no way to get them back into the restaurant. If they wanted us to leave earlier, it might have been better to assign more than one waiter to our table of 22. I don't whether they asked us to leave because half our party was African American (I hate to use the race card, but I am baffled as to why they would ask such a large table to leave, especially a table that was spending lots of money) or if they simply wanted to get rid of us (we weren't stupid drunk). Either way, they party was ruined. The hostess was wrong! more

Sunday Brunch and the Bottomless Mimosas are Fantab-ulous! 1/17/2008

I have never eaten at Farrago for anything but Sunday brunch but out of about 8 restaurants on my Sunday brunch list this is in the top two. The orange juice they use for their mimosas (did I mention they are bottomless?) is the best flavor I have tasted in a mimosa. I don't know what they use but it is delicious. The cheeseburgers are fantastic, the chicken sandwiches are delicious and even better if you have it made like the cheeseburger because the steak sauce they use on the burger is a perfect accompaniment. All of the breakfast food is great but my favorite is the plain old eggs, sausage and potatoes because the sausage is amazing and the potatoes are really like shredded potato pancakes. Yummy- though a little on the greasy side, which is kind of the charm and taste. The atmosphere for brunch is energizing and fun and a little patience can go a long way - the place gets busy and it's nice on a Sunday morning to be a little more layed back and give someone a minute to wait on you. The bartender that is there most Sundays is always on top of things but can't do everything all at once. It is her demeanor and attitude and never missing my glass or forgetting it's bottomless that keep the bar area loose and fun. Enjoy the food, the scene and the drinks! I do plan on getting there to try dinner one of these days, just haven't made it yet unfortunately. I hear from friends that dinner is very good but the atmosphere is much different than the brunch atmosphere - they say much calmer and quieter at night. more
