Horrible service... Delivery arrived 20 minutes late, chicken soup is extremely oily and upon calling to inquire regarding the status of my late delivery, the cafe hung up on me. There are better cafe's out there, choose another one. more

Gross food and service!!! 1/13/2011

Not sure why I remember this place having good pizza. We had the most disgusting slice here tonight--tasteless accept for the green pepper which tasted rotten and literally made me gag. When I told ""Papi,"" the employee behind the counter, he told me that no one else complains and refused to do anything to make the situation better. Gross pizza, horrible service. Do not eat here! more

Great slices of pizza - unusal toppings - great place to hang out 5/20/2008

I wouldn't listen to the reviewers who say that they've had bad service - there are no waiters. Just go up to the counter and grab a slice. They always have a great selection of pies - I love the chicken parm. You can get ziti pizza, chicken broccoli pizza, cheeseburger pizza, etc. They have some good baked goods and I love the tiramisu. You can get in quick, grab a bottle of beer (they have a pretty good selection) and sit for as long as you like. I've even seen people in there playing cards. The seating area is always clean - and there are murals of the whole neighborhood all over the walls - great artwork and a local history lesson! I think it's cool that it's in the St. Mark's hotel building and there are pictures of the hotel in there... and yes, the bathroom is pretty bad - but tell me where you're going to find a sweet-smelling clean bathroom in the city without having to pay for it and I'll tell you that you're in lala land. i've even run in there just to use the bathroom sometimes and the guys are totally OK with it. Just bring you're own TP and some wipes or handgel and you're all set. But don't go for the bathroom - go for the tasty, unique slices of pizza and the relaxed neighborhood ambiance. Oh - and a cold one. more

Best pizza I've had in NY.... 10/12/2007

Been going to this place since 2004. Fortunately, I haven't had a poor experience (other than the time I was hammered and almost threw up in the bathroom, which was already filty, by the way....not good times). The posting underneath about having to order a multiple topping pizza in order to get a particular topping is true. I love a lot of stuff on my slice so I never noticed that, but you'd be in trouble if you just wanted to get one topping. It's a great place to go after getting sloshed with friends at the local bars around the corner....you can't beat a 24 hour pizza joint. The mural on the walls provide something interesting to look at, and I've never been at a loss for seating there. Don't go there for ambiance or great service, just go for an awesome slice with everything on it. Pros: 24 hour pizza, alot of toppings, great after a couple drinks Cons: dirty bathroom, a little pricey (but we are in NY, right?) more

world famous ray's pizza 8/5/2007

The absolute worst service in the city! They have no regard for decency! DO NOT frequent this joint! There are too many other places that will appreciate the service! Pros: hours Cons: WORST SERVICE more

RAY'S PIZZA on st. marks 8/5/2007

I was eating at a table outside on a sunday night, and the maintainance staff actually asked me to move,as they packed up the table I was dining at. I understand this is not a classy establishment, but common sense manners would suffice. NOT RECOMMENDED. Pros: Hours Cons: VERY rude waitstaff more

Rising prices, decreasing selection 5/31/2006

I have been going to rays for a couple of months now since i live in the area. Two things have happened in that short time, 1) prices of the pizza have risen twice 2) selection has been reduced in most cases. Sure service is fast, and the slices are pretty good, but how fast does pizza inflation rise? I find the best deal is in the sicilian slice. When I say selection has reduced, i mean selection of single toping pizzas; its almost as if they want you to spend more on the more expensive slices. Good luck trying to find just a chicken slice, its gotta be chicken bacon, chicken broccoli, or chicken sausage if you want chicken... variety is good, but not when it my only, more expensive, choice. Pros: excellent taste, good selection, fast service Cons: rising prices, forced to choose, unwanted topings more

great for a fast bite 11/8/2005

more than just pizza, but who looks past the Sicilian? more

This is the ""real"" Ray's !!! 5/19/2005

There's nothing better than this fast paced counter with great pizza choices. You'll have yours in under two minutes then sit outside and watch the characters go by. No kids running around either which is great. Wave to the tour busses and sit as long as you want for this is the corner where history was made. You can almost hear the past! Then go around the corner for great ice cream, falafels, a little bit of Tibet and great shoes...If you're not a character then stay away. more

World's worst service ever 8/10/2003

Worst service ever especially people behind the pizza counter. They act like as if they are giving us a free food. They remind me of ""Seinfeld's soup nazi"" guy. They refused to sell me a coffee because I have a stroller with me and it seems to take much of their precious space. MCP (male chauvinism p). I will walk miles to get a coffee then set a foot in that restaurant again. more
