Funny name. Good food! 10/30/2009

We have been eating at Fa Fa for about 6 years now and have never had a bad experience. The staff isn't over friendly but they have never messed up an order and special requests are always welcome. Our daughter is a very picky eater and we will bring a happy meal for her to eat and have never had them say anything about outside food. I am surprised by the low ratings but if you notice the lower ratings are for ambiance and not food quality. The Spicy Crispy beef is AWESOME! The lunch specials are a really good bargain. I suggest just over looking the decor and the kinda sad fish tank and enjoy the excellent food! Pros: Really good food Cons: Decor is dated more

Unique Chinese Food 7/5/2009

They have their paper on their tables so people can draw and such on it yeah, but the place has actual Chinese people and they are working exceptionally hard on trying to make us, the customer happy. They make big meals in the hopes that maybe you will be happy with more leftovers later. They have seriously no money to make big upgrades because of the economic crisis. These are wonderfully nice people who really try and work hard at your tables. Also, their sesame chicken and sodas are divine. Pros: They are actual Chinese people not the trad Chinese-American Cons: Overly Concious more

Great 3/3/2009

I really like this place, they are kid friendly, they have paper so you can draw on it table cloths-the kids really love that, and I like the fact that you can watch them make your food. And it is always good the best crab puffs ever and a great house rice. The empress chicken is fantastic as well. Enough of that, you should go it's great. more

If you enjoy sauce so thick you can stand a fork up in it... this is the place for you! 12/13/2008

I love food. As evident from my generous belly.\r But unlike some..I will not give a restaurant high marks just because of larger quantities..I'm not in college anymore trying to stuff my gut for the cheapest price. \r \r On the other side of the coin, I don't think you have to pay high prices to get good eats.. \r \r Now that we have that out of the way...this is the typical Chinese restaurant with fish tank and tacky lounge to boot. The sauces are too thick and unappetizing. Like they have been sitting in a warmer waiting for you to arrive. It does not taste fresh by any stretch of the imagination. Pros: Has a fun name to say? Cons: The food. more

Good Service, Food, and Atmosphere 2/8/2008

I have gone to Fa Fa Gourmet serveral times and I enjoyed it everytime. The portions are fairly large and the food is always tasty. I have gone there during their not so busy hours and the service and speed with which they prepared our food was satisfying. I understand that with foreign cusine comes a foreign culture and our american selves have to learn to adjust when we are at such a place but FaFa Gourmet is a pretty good place to go to when you want the good Chinese food without a lot of the culture (ie. Chinese yelling across the restaurant, non english speaking waitresses, fish and god knows what else smelling rooms). I highly recommend it, eat in or take out. more

fa fa gourmet 10/19/2007

Okay..This place was terrible. Honestly the food is decent but the service is the worst. I have always had a bad ex w the short haired waitress. I asked 4 some extra napkinns and I thought she was gonna have a fit. I have NEVER had a service rep treat me w such disrespect. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!\r When I asked 4 her name she refused 2 answer without being rude about it first. Just typing about it makes me thing O my goodnesss. WHY \r enough said Pros: good food Cons: terrible service, as they speak about u in Chinese more

Never had a Problem 10/5/2006

Honestly I have read the reviews and have personally been there about a dozen times. I also ordered take-out. The food is good the service was never bad and I love the fish tank. It is true chinese food that can make the most americanized person feel comfortable. Even when asked to have chopsticks they presented me and my wife with 2 sets of chopsticks with it's own chopstick holder. Great attention to detail. Pros: Food and attention to detail. more

Avoid this restaurant!!! 6/9/2006

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food is mediocre, their sweet and sour is 80% thick sauce and 20% meat/vegetables. The service on Saturday, June 11, was so bad I didn't leave a tip for the first time in my adult life. After receiving our order, we didn't see any more of the woman who took the order. Items were added to our bill that we did not order. This is the last time I will ever go there. Pros: Parking is adequate Cons: Service, food, prices more

Would not recommend 1/1/2005

If you like sweet and sour, I would not suggest the chicken. You can expect soggy pieces of chicken drowned in sweet and sour sauce. It seemed the sweet and sour chicken was so saturated with sauce, that it must have been soaking in it for hours. The egg rolls are big, but have a rather doughey shell that is thick and unusual. They are served with a blazing horse radish sauce that will take your breath away. The flavor of the ginger duck was OK, but don't expect the meat to be trimmed free of fat and gristle. I thought the duck was also served on the rare side. I would not return to this restaurant. Pros: Good parking, Nice staff, Big aquarium Cons: , A little pricey, Strange name more

a surprise gem 8/12/2004

This is some of the better Chinese food I've had in awhile. Sauces are flavorful but not too heavy. And I love their egg rolls (I usually don't.) They're ample, have light crispy outside and a juicy middle bursting with flavor. Service is polite and professional. Ambiance is serene and relaxing. (I haven't been in the lounge yet, though. Don't know what that's like.) more

kinda spendy but good 4/1/2004

I love the food, it's a little pricey though. The service is average as is the atmosphere. I would recommend it over other Chinese restaurants around Vancouver though. Pros: Food more

Great place to eat 6/24/2003

Fa Fa Gourmet is a wonderful place to eat. Their lunch menu is around $5 and it includes your choice of main dish, fried rice, egg roll, soup, and tea. The service is friendly and prompt. I have made it a habit to eat lunch there every day because of the great food and affordable price. I grew up in Asia and I have to say that Fa Fa makes some of the most authentic Chinese food I have found in the US. Pros: Inexpensive Lunch, Great Food, Nice Atmosphere more
