Terrible Customer Service - Horrible Experience. My wife and daughter have been going to the Tigard location off and on for years...actually since 2009. We first took our young daughter there because she was having trouble reading. They were helpful in prescribing glasses. We recently took her there again a few months ago to get a checkup. \r \r I was shocked when we got the bill. They actually charged her $367.00 for a new patient visit. When I called the office to inquire, they told me because she has not been there for three years she was considered a new patient under Medicare rules. I laughed because my daughter will not be eligible for Medicare for about 55 years!\r \r This organization has absolutely ZERO customer service. They are more interested in money and hiding behind Medicare than serving their existing customers. I told them our family would not be back if this were their practice. The woman on the phone did not even care. They got their money for this visit but we will not be going back and given the age of our kids that would have added up to a considerable amount of money. They tripped over a dollar to pick up a dime. Too bad for them but we will be going to a much better facility, with very reasonable prices down the road. more

Horrible experience. My appointment was at 10:10. 40 minutes later I was called back to have my eyes dilated. As I went into the room, I saw another entire room packed with patients who had been called in when I first got there. I had taken time off work for this. I asked the technican BEFORE she put drops in my eyes how much longer this was going to take. Would I be done by noon. She said probably not. You have to allow at least 3 hours for an appointment. I told her this was totally unacceptable and stupid. There was no way she was going to touch my eyes today, and furthermore, I didn't want my insurance billed because they don't know how to keep on track. \r \r I rescheduled for two months out so I could be the first person to have an appointment. I also then have scheduled a vacation day. I don't trust their scheduling. Their doctors are quick. But I feel like this is an assembly line. . and they must overbook. They should know better. If I could get any other eye insurance I certainly would more

Horrible Experience - I was left in a room with dilated eyes for over an hour. No one came to check on me though I could hear staff laughing outside. When the doctor finally arrived after closing time - she said 'sorry for the delay'; I was quite upset but decided to stay for what turned out to be one of the worst and shortest exams I have ever had from any opthamologist. more

Horrible experience. Scheduled my eye exam 2 months in advance. Upon my arrival they claimed that I never made the appointment - despite being a customer of many years and had confirmation af my appointment. I had taken a day off work to be at my appointment. They offered no excuse or apologies. Will never again set foot in Eye Health Northwest, have gladly taken my business elsewhere more

Horrible Service 3/9/2010

I made an appointment today for my son. I explained to the lady who answered the phone that I needed to get him in somewhere today as he is having severe headaches and is missing school. She told me I could get in at 4pm. I double checked with her that we could get in then. So we turn up, fill in 3 forms worth of paperwork and 5 mins after his appointment was to start we are told that someone else came in without an appointment and they were seeing him and we would have to wait at least 45mins! Had she been nice about it, I may have been ok and waited but I refuse to stay somewhere where I feel devalued and disrespected.It was clear she didn't care less, I explained that I had already filled out all the paperwork and why am I only just finding out that we'd have to wait. She told me it was the receptionists fault (the competent one) that I completed the paperwork and she couldn't have told me earlier because she was busy. So, here I am at the end of a day with no eye exam for my son, I could have easily have gone somewhere else if I had know. I will be sure to tell everyone I know NOT to even consider going there. Cost me a LOT 6/9/2009

NoPo Optical cost me a lot of money the last time I went there to get prescription sunglasses. First of all, the woman who helped me ended up charging me too much even though I asked her if it was correct - 9 months later I ended up getting a check for $100 in the mail. And then, they gave me a glasses case that doubled as a lens cleaner which scratched the heck out of my lenses. Three months ago I called and asked if my lenses had a scratch warranty and the woman on the phone said NO. Then yesterday I went in to have my glasses refitted and the woman asked how long I have had them as they have a 1 year scratch warranty! I have had them 1 year and THREE months. I told her that I had called and asked about a warranty and she told me that ?all her staff know about the warranty? and that I must have asked the wrong question. Then she sent me on my way. She just didn?t realize how far she sent me ? never to go there again. Pros: Close to my house Cons: unknowledgeable staff more

I just want to say that the staff at North Portland Optical is tremendously helpful and knowledgeable in what they do. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by a friendly and courteous receptionist. The prices are not the lowest but at no sacrifice to great customer service, which to me frankly is worth far more! more

I've been a customer at North Portland Optical for probably 15+ years. I got connected with them because they did special inserts for Oakley sunglasses and special inserts for scuba diving masks. more

Good luck with Flex Spending 3/31/2008

I'm currently having a big headache with my Flex Spending account. For my contact lens visit, North Portland optical only gave me a simple receipt of how much I paid. I was able to play with my flex spending debit (credit) card, but it turns out the receipt was not sufficient to substantiate the claim, as it was not itemized. more

Good staff, but trouble after being bought by Eye Health Northwest 3/5/2008

I've been a customer of North Portland Optical for a couple of years now. I like the staff and have had good service in the past. This year, when I went to get some new frames and lenses, I ran into a bunch of trouble. First, I was told I needed an eye exam even though my Rx was still valid. Upon arrival and wasting of an hour of my time, the doc said that my prescription was fine for another year. I picked some pricey frames and they sent them to the lab. When the frames came back, they were scratched up, and the wrong type of lenses were in them. I decided to go elsewhere and asked for a refund. The refund took forever to get--it had to be processed by Eye Health's main office. I prefer working with an independant optician--not Eye Health NW. Pros: location Cons: new ownership hurt service. screwed up order, and still haven't got a refund more
