I just moved to the area and decided to color and cut my hair.after looking for hair salon in the internet i found extravaganza hair design, after reading so many good reviews I decided to try the salon. my stylist was peter, and he did such a beautiful job on my hair, I never had such a beautiful blond hair,after he finish the color he cut my hair and I WAS LOOKING SO HOT. he knew what to do what to mix with the colors, he listens to the client ,and he is fair with prices. the people are so nice there the assistant offers coffee tea or even wine, I left very happy and i really recommend this hair salon. more

Not what I was looking for 11/17/2007

I just moved to the upper east side and I wanted to try a local salon. So based on the reviews on Citysearch, I thought this salon would be a perfect choice. I was very wrong. The quality and customer service was the worst I have ever seen. First the shampoo girl was rude and did not want to be there...then the low class stylist was even worse. Not only did she stop to have lunch and smoke, she barely said two words to me. I had two requests no red highlights and a nice modern cut. What I got...red highlights and a bowl 1980's teacher cut. Horrible and expensive at nearly $300. I will never go back. Pros: Location Cons: Price, People more

They really care about your hair 11/16/2007

I went to Extravaganza with a hair emergency! I had gone to a salon that assured me they could do my hair, as I am a black female, and in the end the artist had completely ruined it. It was so bad that my hair was breaking off in huge clumps, I couldn't get a comb through it without it filling up with hair. I went to Extravaganza, only for a wash and blowdry, sat down in Peter's chair and was forced to come to terms with how bad my hair actually was as he was trying to style what little was left. With tears in my eyes, Peter assured me that he could fix it, and that he would do everything he could to help my hair grow back stronger and thicker...Long story short, he cut it into a fabulous style (especially since he had so little to work with), and my hair is already on the right track. I would recommend this salon and Peter to anyone. They have a really comfortable atmosphere, a genuine and knowledgeable staff, and they use quality products. Thanks for saving my hair, Peter!!!! Fabulous Haircut 11/12/2007

Recently I had a wonderful experience having my hair styled by Pinney at Extravaganza. The haircut I received was easy to style at home and looked great, so I have recommended Extravaganza to both my friends and my family. The stylist had a great personality and the decor was comfortable and relaxing for me, therefore Pinney and Extravaganza receive my highest recommendation. more

What a pleasure to go to an immaculately clean, trendy, yet 'down to earth' salon on the upper eastside where creativity abounds! Peter and his two associated is unbelievably talented. The color,cut and blowdry I got were truly extraordinary. The last time I received such individualized attention and had my hair done so beautifully was when I first colored it years ao at the L'oreal salon in Paris. I would refer all of my friends and any of my family without hesitation. My only hope is that this relatively young salon doesn't get so busy that I won't be able to get an appointment. more

Feels Like Home 9/21/2007

This is a fantastic place. I have been going to Peter since he was at Amour de Hair and was thrilled when he left to open his own salon. The place is warm and comfortable and Peter is one of the most accomodating people I know. Besides a great atmoshpere, Extravaganza offers fantastic haircuts. Peter's skills cover a diverse clientele and I am a true testament: after going to Peter for about a year, I brought my dad, who was unhappy with his stylist. Not only has my dad become a regular, but so have my mom and my three sisters ranging in age from 12 to 21! Go to Extravaganze, you won't regret it. more

Walking into Extravaganza hair salon was the best thing that ever happend to me. Peter iss thee best hair stylist in the world. He gave me the attention that i wanted and made me feel like i was at home. The workers there are warm, friendly, & comforting. Coffe, Tea, Wine, Water etc Exravaganza will get it for you. Peterr is veryy talented and hell get u satasfied with what u want with ur hair. I greatly recomend women and men to go to Extravaganza hair salon and experience pleasure. Best Hair Stylist & Colorist 8/29/2007

I followed Judith to Extravaganza from another salon. She seems to be flourishing in this new environment, where Peter gives her more freedom to be creative and she is relaxed and happy. My super-curly hair requires a good cut from a stylist who is skilled and can visualize the aftereffect of the scissors. After years of too-short scalpings, I finally feel that my hair is flattering and pretty. I've had fun experimenting with color too, something I would never do before I met Judith. We've settled on a soft shade that enhances my natural color, with stops along the way for real changes to my look. I no longer feel anxious going into the salon or upset and disappointed coming out. In addition to working on my hair in the best possible way, Judy has become a friend, and I always feel welcome and comfortable in the salon. I encourage anyone who is looking for a professional, stylish and polished cut and color to see Judith. Pros: Great stylists, reasonable prices, clean, comfortable salon. more

The best Salon in NYC 8/28/2007

Peter is the best! His hair cuts are outstanding, the best in NYC and I always get complements on my hair when I go to him. His shop is so clean and Sonia who washes my hair is so sweet. I have lived here all of my life and have not had a better cut in over 30 years. I highly recomend peter to everyone looking for a great salon in NYC. Pros: Peter Cons: none more

Peter is the best of the best. 8/10/2007

I've been going to Peter for almost three years now. He took me from black hair (a complete accident) to a very beautiful red. People are usually shocked when they find out I'm not a natural redhead. I have long hair and he has kept it very healthy for me through all of the dye jobs. I've always loved my haircuts, and he is a master with the blow-dryer. He is nothing short of magic. I highly recommend him. more

Flexible, reliable and great results! 7/30/2007

After trying tons of salons I've been sticking with Peter for the past 3 years. He has a great sense of style - always knows how to update my look. My favorite part about going to Peter is that he is a genuine, honest, flexible person. He listens to what I am looking for in my style and he somehow always gets me that look! He took my husband from a shaggy guy to a handsome man! He never tries to push me into buying any products or get any unnesesary treatments. I'm already looking forward to my next haircut! Great Haircut 7/26/2007

Being new to the city, I took advice from a good friend to get a great cut. I was given great direction!!! I sat in the chair and gave Peter creative lisence to do as he pleased. I couldn't be happier. I will not only continue to go to Peter, I would highly recommended him to all. The salon was friendly and I left feeling great! Thank you Peter! YOU ROCK!!!!! more

Great Salon, Great Owner! 7/25/2007

I have been going to Peter for about seven years and I finally let him cut about 10 inches off my very long hair. He made the trasition easy and comfortable for someone who was addicted to length! This new salon is great and I've seen many customers leave happy. Not only that, but I've sent several family members and friends all of whom also love him! more

Best colorist and hair stylist in NYC!! 7/24/2007

If you want the best hair colorist then go to Judith. She can tell you the best color for your skin type. She has taken me from a dark brunnette to blonde and done the right shade for me. She is constantly taking the latest classes in coloring to perfect her craft. She is also great with scissors. She can give you what you want or the latest hip style. Besides being a great stylist, she is a cool person who is professional and at the same time treats you like a friend. Try Judith, you won't be disapointed. more

Looking for one of those places where you can just go in and put your hair in someone else's hands and trust it will come out great everytime? I've been seeing Peter and his team for years and it's such a pleasure. I always walk out with a great cut - fantastic color - and the best blow-dry. And not only is Peter fantastic at what he does... but he's got a really nice butt to look at too! more

Extravaganza is the antithesis of the typical UES salon. Warm, friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere at the salon is always welcoming. And Judith, who has been my stylist for several years, never disappoints. Long. Short. Blonde. Brunette. Judith always knows just what to do to match whatever mood I'm in. I walked into Extravaganza without an appointment after seeing a girl with great hair walk out the door. The team welcomed me in and then Peter gave me the best cut and highlights I have had in NY. The next time my sister saw me, she said "This is the color your hair should have been all along," and people always ask if the color is natural...and that is the best compliment possible for colored hair.
